weekly Tyrex's My 52 for 2016

Hi Michael

Boy racer on some housing estate with ott processing really catches the eye. I really like it; is it saying "old".

Extremely rust old thing by the beach ... another out-of-the-crowd image. Top "metal" shot, up there with the best. (y)

Gorgeous shape, colours and textures in this shot. Loving the composition too; it makes for an appropriately abstract nature which helps emphasise he key elements.

Great start to the 52

Cheers

Really liked the second image of the car. Nice, clean and sharp;)

The colours in that second photo!!!!! Awesome. Nice close up as well.

Good luck with your 52s,
Oscar

Very very nice Michael. I look forward to seeing more of you work.

Smashing shot for metal Michael - the rusted metal makes a great contrast with the cool bg colours. Look forward to seeing more of your work.

All three are nice Michael but strictly speaking ... #1 looks too happy to be classed as captive and #3 has too many harsh shadows and distractions so #2 for me - cute expression and lovely soft pastel colours.

Nice collection - I think number 2 is more on theme, great expression and I agree I'm not the house rules add much. Your dog looks like a happy chappie though :)

Love #1, although it probably isn't very much on theme as the dog looks like it could easily hop out!

For that reason, I think #2 is best.

I think you're gonna regret "Break the rules once in a while" once the kid is grown up a bit. :P

Lovely dog and while I agree he looks too happy to be "captive", its still my favourite shot of the 3.

Agree with others that while #1 is the best picture #2 says captive much more effectively, I also actually like the rules in the picture. While they are not harsh rules, for me, it does add to a sense of being captive.

Have to wonder how the "peace and quite on sunday mornings" works out for you with a young one and the dog :)

The 3rd for me, Michael, it made me chuckle both the dog and the small child grounded in one hit, and the dog looking at the child as if its their fault :D

Lovely photos.

The first one is a really nice photo, but the other two are more on theme.

Hi Michael, yes, it has to be #2 for the theme, I love the 'House Rules' but in this instance I think they'd be better cropped out.....I think it gives it a lot more impact....love her expression :)

Captive - nice collection of images, much prefer the 2nd image.

Thanks for all your comments, my model for the day was my granddaughter she was not impressed loll as for the theme Captive there were so many great pictures I thoroughly enjoyed looking at them all.

Number 2 is the best one for me although I think I would crop out the rules,
in 1 the dog is lovely but way too happy for a captive

H Michael

Old: I prefer the non HDR version great take on the theme with both the house and car fitting the theme.

Metal: WOW fantastic image great composition

Captive: I love the first image really show the dogs character but the 2nd and 3rd images are more on theme for me the 2nd image is better then the 3rd as I find the flash distracting in the 3rd

Keep up the good work

Hi Michael. Excellent response to the theme - love the brick bg and the reflections in the jars.

Hi Michael, metal is great, fantastic colours and composition. Captive - number 1 is my fave & miniature is great too. Very crisp and colourful :)

Hi Michael :)

Captive - Really liking the first shot, but feel the focus/DoF has missed the ideal point, although the eyes are caught nicely, so I'm going for the second shot, the young girl sure looks miffed :)

Miniature - My ocd picks up the brick line top rh - other than that a nice bright image, liking the brick background and a good trio of candle sizes, works well for the theme :)

nice idea for the theme, overall a nicely balanced photo

Great take on 'miniature', good sharpness.

We have a Yankee Candle with 'mmm, bacon' fragrance

Have to admit that I find the brickwork a little distracting, but nice colours and detail in the candles.

Nice idea all nicely in focus, and actually I like the background

Hi, on theme, doesn't really grab me but, nice composition and files the frame.

Cheers.

Hi Michael ....someones house will smell nice :) ....I would maybe have just used the large and the small jar to emphasise the size, but as mentioned above it's a good crisp colourful shot.

Miniature - I do love a good Yankee candle, good interpretation of the theme.

Many thanks for your comments much appreciated , as for the line top right YEP I should of framed better thanks for pointing that out DK I guess I was more focused on the Jars loll

Michael, welcome!

Old - I like this and your processing. I think in the context of the image it works: brash, unashamed and a bit like a Cozzie.
Metal is fantastic. Great composition, detail on the metal and very pleasing background image. It looks fairly processed, but it works well.
First captive is a stonker too - the composition and placement just works so well.
For me, Miniature is a weaker shot by some margin: although not a bad image, it just doesn't jump out and grab me in the ways the others did.

Some superb shots and really looking forward to seeing more!

Week 4 Happy.. Taken Sep 2014 when my daughter was diagnosed with autism so I surprised her with a lab puppy and they are inseparable I look at this and many more pictures and they always bring a smile to my face.

Nice thread Michael, excellent shot for Metal. The colours and point of view/composition are spot on for me.

Captive - the first shot is more of a Captive but trying to escape and is my favourite of the set. I like the low down point of view, the only criticism is that the focus is a little off, the general rule is to try and lock the focus on the eyes.
The second looks a little flat, mainly due to the lack of shadows and colour on the background.
#3 the flash is a little too harsh and direct which has resulted in very harsh shadows. Maybe holding a piece of white card in front of the flash and bouncing it off the ceiling.

Miniature - I like the colours and the lighting, however the wall is a bit of a distraction, a larger aperture would help to throw it out of focus

Happy- a lovely shot. It's amazing how children with ASD bond with dogs. My son was diagnosed last July, shortly after our puppy joined the family. They have been inseparable ever since, with Luna sensing when he needs her help

:)
