weekly Tyrex's My 52 for 2016

Nice thread Michael, excellent shot for Metal. The colours and point of view/composition are spot on for me.

Captive - the first shot is more of a Captive but trying to escape and is my favourite of the set. I like the low down point of view, the only criticism is that the focus is a little off, the general rule is to try and lock the focus on the eyes.
The second looks a little flat, mainly due to the lack of shadows and colour on the background.
#3 the flash is a little too harsh and direct which has resulted in very harsh shadows. Maybe holding a piece of white card in front of the flash and bouncing it off the ceiling.

Miniature - I like the colours and the lighting, however the wall is a bit of a distraction, a larger aperture would help to throw it out of focus

Happy- a lovely shot. It's amazing how children with ASD bond with dogs. My son was diagnosed last July, shortly after our puppy joined the family. They have been inseparable ever since, with Luna sensing when he needs her help

:)

Thanks Chris much appreciated, I tend to get excited when taking pictures and forget some basic rules like focusing for the eyes and the list go’s on and on but many thanks for giving feedback.

I’m glad your son is happy with his dog, I sit and watch my daughter and pepper play and they make me laugh so much its great I’m shore you’re the same cheers Chris.

It is, sometimes they both lay on the floor watching TV, side by side, on their front, heads on paws/hands. They're like twins :)

That's superb. You've nailed the "happy" theme there. She must have been thrilled.

Happy Lovey image right on theme you can feel the love they have for each other

Miniature ... I like the BG but it doesn't really shout miniature to me.

Happy ... she is ... with that dog.

Lovely image for Happy Michael - you can feel the love. One to treasure.

Happy, thats a cracking image Michael.
I love the expression on your daughters face, you can see she is truly happy there

I like your minatuer shot, so well focused and beautiful colours.
I think the photograph of your daughter and her dog is outstanding. I can well see why it makes you smile - great choice for the theme.

Hi Michael,

I agree with other crit that the HDR is a touch overdone. That said, I think it adds to the image.
Cracking metal shot. Strong FG and BG. Nice one (y)
No2 for captive in my opinion. Great expression :)
On theme for miniature but the BG takes control a little for me.
Really like happy. Made me smile :)

Miniature - on theme and I like the colours
Happy - lovely portrait she certainly does look happy.

I agree with Carl on this one Michael ....a super shot to treasure, it just shouts happiness, it's natural and very lovely.

Now that is one happy girl...and pup - a special moment beautifully captured.

The epitome of happy there Michael.
Perhaps a bit busy in the background, but it gives it context.

Thank you all very much for the lovely comments :)

Miniature: a nice idea and like the brick background + fact you've used odd numbers....... Can't help but feel there's a better arrangement in there somewhere though (appreciate u were short on time though)

Happy: As Paul says.... Perfect timing. Definitely a picture to treasure for all of time

Hi Michael,
Abandoned - Wonderfully dramatic -I like the first one best with the cottage looking very isolated.

Lovely compositions for the theme Michael, especially the first.
But for me the PP is pushed a little too far. There's some significant halo and fringing in the trees especially.

2 nice images for Abandoned but I agree Ruth the PP is a little to much

Superb find - I think that might be my favourite building that's cropped up for the abandoned theme and the compositions are great.

Obviously lots of processing and there are a couple of bits where it looks slightly odd (along the top of the highest ridge of trees in the second shot for example) but I realise you wanted to bring out the colour nicely. I reckon if you could nail the PP then shot 2 would be my preference.

Good photos regardless.

Hi Michael ....a perfect find for the theme ....what a fabulous location, I wonder why it's abandoned.

Many thanks for your comments I found the place in a little village in Mordiford just outside Hereford, I took them Sunday morning and then had a 180 mile hike back home. Thanks for pointing out the halo around the trees I didn’t spot that I was trying not to overdo the processing, I’m glad you like them, I was lucky just behind the building was a timber house being built in the woods so I took some pictures for the theme camouflage I will try my best to not over process thank you all again.

Hi Michael

Abandoned ... couple of lovely images ... powerful sky. But as mentioned PP's a bit OTT, especially the 2nd one.

Camouflage ... Hmmm just about, ;) ... certainly well hidden.

Would love to stay there (Camouflage). Like it for the theme.

Gaz

What an amazing subject you found Michael and I think you've done a terrific job on the images. My favourite has to be #2 with that awesome sky and the lighting on the façade. Love it.

Hi have to agree with the other comments very over processed

Abandoned what an amazing old building
I prefer the more subtle processing of the 1st one TBH though Michael.

Camouflaged, it certainly is, and what a great place to live too

Love your Happy image. A very happy girl.
Abandoned and Camouflage- definitely fit the themes; I like your style but definitely more natural (camouflage) is my preference

Hi Michael,
Great find for Abandoned, it looks like it was a lovely house once. Crying out for someone to buy it cheaply and spend a fortune restoring it.
I don't usually like over processed images, but actually the second of the shots is my favourite brcause of the counterpoint of the decay vs the vibrant grass and blues in the sky.
Camouflaged - Sorry, it doesn't do it for me. (But what do I know eh?)

The building for abandoned was an amazing find! The sunshine on those trees certainly helps your camouflage building hide away, too.

Abandoned; two beautiful subjects for the the theme but I found the pp a bit much.

Camouflage; a well hidden, camouflaged building. Big improvement on the pp too. (y)

Love your Happy image. A very happy girl.

Quite noisy and some haloing on the trees, but I rather like it.

Cheers.

Hi Michael, that does look very well hidden, it will certainly be a fabulous house whe it's finished, colours are definitely softer than your abandoned shot.

Many thanks for your nice comments just got a new computer screen so I’m hoping not to overdo pp in future.;)

Hi Michael, Abandoned - like the first one best with the cottage looking very isolated and the processing is better for me. Camouflaged is also a good image, maybe not as strong as the abandoned one but well balanced
