Well I hope to have some pictures up by Sunday and looking forward to shooting more in 2016,

As it’s new years eve i wish everyone on TP a Happy New Year....

Hi, I like the perspective you have shot from but the HDR ruins the image for me, slightly overdone, I am sure other people will like it just not my thing

I like this, not so much the content of the photo but the contrasting colours (y)

Hi Michael,
Like Allan, I like the composition of the shot, counterpointing the RS with the house. But the garesh HDR ruins the final mage for me (and you've still got a shed load of noise).
Was this taken on a tripod? If so then reducing the iso and reducing the shutter speed would help massively in reducing the noise.
How many stops apart were the different images? It might be possible to get the dynamic range you're after without the overly HDR effect.
You may also want to try applying some Noise reduction to the original image before applying any sharpening.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ignore anything I've said, afterall, it's just my opinion and achieving what you want is all that really matters :)

Tim

Many thanks for your comments much appreciated...I shot this today on tripod iso 400 F11 1/400s I took around 20 pic and tried one HDR at 2 stop under 2 over and one normal.

I was trying to get some mood into the sky as it was overcast and as you can see this was my first HDR loll I’m still learning lightroom and Photoshop and my camera but I will do some work on photo and reduce the noise and tone down the overall HDR effect and see how it turns out. Now as I look at the photo I see I have well over done it.

I agree with the others the HDR is a tad "hot"
but I love the subject matter and the perspective

Oh Wow - an RS2000 - amazing motor. I like the composition a lot with a partial on the car and that background - the partial, leaves something for the viewers the imagination to work on which I always think is the way to go. Well done for trying HDR Michael - I haven't attempted that at all ... yet.

Thanks for your comments, just had a play in Lightroom and I quite like this, as for the car it’s my stepsons car I’m just glad it didn’t rain..

As others have said, the composition is really good, and the inclusion of the orb (sun?) is a nice touch.

If you like HDR, please persist with learning more about the technique so you can achieve the look you want - Easy to overcook but conversely great tool when used sparingly or on isolated elements only etc..

Hi Michael, and welcome, well I actually like the first one, not being too technical, I comment on what I see and I think it adds an interesting dimension to your shot, Well done for being brave and trying something new for your first submission.

I prefer the first shot. I feel it's much more dramatic. I like the impact of the colour and the grainy feel.
The only drawback is there's a bit too much of a halo around the roof of the house.

I definitely prefer the first shot but agree that it's a tad overcooked. Strangely, it looked excellent when viewed on my phone but the bigger shot on the laptop really highlights how much processing has been put into it.

Thank you for all your comments , if I am to learn more about photography and processing there is no better place than Talk Photography. :)

Wow - loving this shot ! The imposing in your face composition and colours of the rust are great but the wonderful colours and scene in the background is fantastic - well done :)

The seascape in the background also looks fantastic - not wanting to detract from the shot above or go off topic but do you have any of that too?

Lovely image Michael with all those subtle colours coming through that rust and like the way that you managed to get that great sky in the bg. Brilliant.

I like that Michael, nice focus on the subject but also a great scene in the background.
Defintely a shot where a shallow DoF wouldn't have had teh same impact. Nice one.

That's a cracking image Michael, from the detail in the background, to the "in your face" foreground

Wow that’s great feedback thank you all, I shot this today at St Anne’s old pier.

Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures of the foreground, I wish I had I was concentrating on trying to complete my challenge.:)

I don't think that its required, certainly not in that image, by foreground I meant the rusty old pier leg

Now that's 'in ya face' :)

Like it. Some slight haloing but aside from that it a great submission and a strong start.

Cheers.

Sorry Cobra my fault I was trying to answer Jon.Ps question I guess he was asking if I took a shot, just off the foreground I should have stated in my comment.:banghead: Glad you all like the shot:)

Hi Michael, loving your photo, good strong composition and super detail. Good luck completing your 52.

Great photo! Striking composition and lovely contrasting colours.
