typing incorrect words..?

I have noticed over the last year I find that the words I want to type come out as actual other words. They aren't misspelling just the complete wrong word.

today I wanted ' causes havoc' and typed 'posts havoc'

not even close on the keyboard and different lengths too

not confusing there/their etc - just completely different

happens quite often .....anyone else..?...........:cuckoo:
 
That's funny, I go to do things and then think ... 'What was I going to do?" ... or I go up the motorway and come to a junction and think ... "Do I need this one?" ... "Where am I going to?" :thinking:

How old are you?

Could you have some form of Autotext set up that is causing that?

def something neurological. For some reason your having problems with general word association. Have you had a concussion (bumped your head), taken any kind of drugs or medication?? I suppose this could also be some kind of dyslexia that came outta nowhere maybe. Personably I dud sideboard this as a priblum - quiet normal.
 
I do it too - but have figured out that it's because I am typing one thing while thinking about something else (normally work).
 
I do it too.... And I think I'm a fair bit younger... :D

Happens to me a lot to be honest. Was not bad at typing when I was younger but seems to be going downhill recently lol I think it's a combination of typing too fast for my own ability and also thinking ahead whilst typing and accidentially typing what I was thinking ahead about! haha

The most common typos is things like typing "you" instead of "your" etc and I don't spot it until I read it back. The weird thing is that when I'm speed typing numbers using the numeric pad I don't really make mistakes but when I do hit a wrong number I seem to sense it straight away. Go figure! lol

I would go for this too, i do it often, not only typing but one example happend only yesterday.

Wife asked me to pick up some vouchers on my way home, so knew i had to turn right at the rounderbout but on driving to said rounderbout i passed a job of mine that needed some input to the architect so before I knew it i had driven over the rounderbout on my way home then realising 100 yards up the road that i was no longer anywhere near the shop i wanted to be at.:bonk:

Old age kicking in or is it just the busy lives we lead these days?????:thumbsdown:

I do this every time I write something. Its got much worse over the last 2 years. Its really annoying. I have to retype everything I write about 3 times, corecting all the wrong words. I used to be a really fast typer, but now If I go fast, I just go completely wrong too.
 
Stop worrying, I find that if I've had a stressfull day my grammer and spelling go straight to the junk pile.

As for wrong words my problem is no words at all, I now call them brain farts. Half way through a sentence I just completely blank and have no idea what I was saying.

back on topic please ......it's NOT incorrect grammar, spelling or you/your.. etc

it's about putting a correct word in the wrong place

Definitely the above, I do it all the time unless I'm copy typing. Try slowing down your typing, tedious but I find it helps if I start making mistakes or switching words.

Ive noticed as well as putting the wrong word in, Im frequently missing out the word altogether.
Going to start using one of those dictation programs I reckon.
 
I'm 36 and I do it too. Think it's because my mind wonders or I just get ahead of myself. Sometimes the word I write in a sentence is a word I was going to write in the following sentence.

Anyway, probably quite normal :)

Along similar lines, there have been numerous occasions where I've read a sentence, or a headline in newspaper for example, and got a word totally wrong which completely change the meaning of the story.
 
My main problem is fat fingers. It's not too bad on a real, full sized keyboard but I often use a netbook and that's a different story! I can usually tell when I've hit 3 or 4 keys rather than just the one I want, so can generally correct the typos before hitting the post button (sometimes miss them but that's what the edit button's for.)

I did that with an article about an attack on an army barracks, it said that they were unprepared for the assault as the only had the one armed guard.


The first time I read it I was really puzzled as to why they had given the job of defending the the whole place to someone with such an obvious disability....:nuts:

True - my brane works fine - it's my fingers that refuse to do exactly what they're told.

The brane does sometimes fail to process incoming information correctly though, missing out letters that change a meaning completely! Earlier today, I misread Counting Games on a box and wondered how one played them without the o...

My problem is verbal astigmatism ... an unfortunately incurable condition that causes me to unfortunately use the same word twice in a single sentence.
