How is a size perky?
Hmmm! perhaps not the best explanation I ever gave, lol!

However, Ive never seen a lardy size 8 but, I have a size 12, and unfortunately for me, I think I fall into the latter catagory, lol!

A comfy PC chair and a regularly topped up supply of Green & Blacks Butterscotch chocolate doesnt seem such a hot idea nowadays! :shake:

Well put it this way, to us guys it's not what size you are its how its packaged. Don't forget M. Monroe was meant to be a size 16.

When I was 21, I was 12st 12 , now I'm 45 & it's 12st 12.

Got to be the only perk of being Diabetic & watching everything I eat and checking weight regulary :)

Almost forgot , 6ft 2 in height

well i'm 33, 5ft 9 and 14 1/2 stone :'(
was 15 1/2 after xmas but did that cabbage soup diet and lost a stone, which has stayed off, thank goodness. My wife is doing the weight watchers thing, losing about 1-2lb a week and doing well.

With me its definitely an exicise thing. I work from home and there are many days when i dont even get out of the house. Also i have used the world cup as an excuse to crack open a beer every time i watch a match:bang:

I bought an exercise bike thats making a wonderful place to hang my shirts :help:
so i'm up for this.

By the sound of it reading this thread anyone under 6 foot on these forums is a midget..

I am currently 22 stone!! I am 5ft 11. I was 17 stone but recently with getting my shop going i have put a lot of weight on due to no exercise and junk food, so i will happily join in to shed the excess i have put on.

Its not only calories in vs calories out it can vary with metabolism, so some people who don't eat a lot and can't shift weight could have a slow metabolism but this can be increased by eating proper meals daily or lots of small/snack meals (4 or 5 in a day) but still healthy food instead of 2 or 3 big meals.

so, looks like we have a few up for it then, what we all should know is, types of things to eat, and what exercise we are doing, or going to do.
i take a packed lunch to work, but trying to get something filling and not fattening is a challenge, ideas, suggestions appreciated.
and dont forget, i am 53 with knac**ered knees, but i will be doing exercise starting this friday night.

And before you even ask... NO its not me...

Glo, I think a picture is in order here, a 12 isn't exactly supersize ;)

I'm with you Boon. Although I'm not exactly fat (I'm a size 12), I am a little overweight (and I'm only 5'3" so feel like a midget on here now with all you 6 footers). I go on my hols in 8 weeks, and I joined a slimming club about 3 weeks ago in order to help me lose the weight I need to so I can fit back into my clothes! I've lost 5lb up to now. I have the problem of being very sweet toothed too.
I did join the gym, and enjoy going there, but I've had to abstain for a few weeks following an op I had - should be ok to start going again now.
If I really must disclose my weight, I'm 10st 2 at the minute (that's 142lb Jewel :) )

Yeah yeah rub it in I'm a measly 165cm / 5'5" and tip the scales at 85 kg / 187.4 lbs / 13 stone 5 lbs so not what you'd call tall or thin :(

My wieght loss program started in november when I was 100kg or so.

I don't really believe in strict dieting for me its all about "portion control" you fancy some chocolate have some chocolate but have one bit not the whole damn bar :nono: it hard but thats life. Alot of the old sayings are true don't go shopping hungry, try to eat a big breakfast and a small dinner etc.

Exercise wise to loose the flab cardio vascular is the way to go so running/walking, swimming, walking up and down the stairs pretty much anything that gets you outa breath. However if you a gym member don't neglect using the weight machines as your metabolic rate is affected by your "lean muscle mass" the more you have the more calories you'll use up each day.

My current "program" consists of a 3 mile jog a random selection of the wieght machines and 10 mins of trying to use a skipping rope ( not a word about it being girly or I'll send the two boxers who gave me the rope round :boxer: )

ok I've been typing this for way too long so I'll finish with a couple of tips

1) drink loads of water as if you don't drink much your body thinks theres a drought so slows everything down to conserve it and stores it just in case.

2) If you want to start running I'd check out the couch to 5k program over at www.coolrunning.com

Ok now were getting personal here. I don't know any of you, so I guess I can disclose my weight too,lol :p

I'm about 6 feet 2 inches tall and 100 Ibs :p

Ha ha, ok I'm really 5ft 6inches and 135 pounds  and apparently I have huge feet as well,:D A size 8 feet folks. Long legs and all I suppose, lol that's what I tell myself anyways! :p

If I ever get to my goal weight I will post a pic! :p

Jewel :D

today i had a reality check, the doc said it would be good for me to loose a little weight, it will help with the pains in my knees(osteoarthritus, chipped cartledge)
Today we went to Padley gorge, and i am affraid its not for me, climbing up and down big boulders, humps ,hollows, i just couldn't get to the 'right' places for the shots, so i left there feeling very down, and annie did her best to cheer me up again.
i am now more than ever determined to loose at least a stone before sept, as we go to cumbria then.

oh and the most unpopular tip for weight "control" cut down on booze, stop drinking drinking at home for example can make huge differences.
Bread's not brilliant for you either and almost as hard to not have :(

Oh I wish I wish I wish.

I don't drink, but I wish I did...just so I could give it up and see some difference :)

Booze is my weakness. I have a method which has worked for me to maintain a balance. It's a bit sad but, what the hell, I'll share it with you.

I give myself a point for everyday I exercise and don't drink.
I take a point away for every day I drink and don't exercise.
I try keep my score close to zero (-2 to +2 maybe lower at the end of a holiday!)

I have gone from drinking almost every day and exercising a couple of times per week to exercising and drinking 4ish days a week.

Seems to work and it's not too hard to keep up.

I very rarely drink alcohol and I'm not a huge lover of bread either  It's the crap I eat like cakey stuff and sweets that is my downfall. I'm doing the Slimming World thing where you can still eat big portions of food and not have to starve yourself to death, so I can still have big steaks, chips & chocolate :D In fact, I'm eating more now than I did before

Pleased you shared that with us, this is a good idea, my wife gives herself a tick every time she dosen't eat in the night, and it works.

i am very similar to Mini, its the cakes, biscuits etc that let me down, i have started today, with only half of my lunch, and although i am not going to starve, i intend to eat properly.
I want to also use my wifes step board in order to do a cardeo vascula workout, and then the ab-swing.

So how's it going for everyine that decided to take Boon up on his offer? (or was that just me?)
I had a not-so-good week as I went home and got fed rather well with BBQ stuff, takeaway pizza, and had day's out eating junk like hot dogs & ice cream. Needless to say, I put 3lb on this week :'( Right...off to the gym now...

oh boy...I'd love to take part in this but I don't want to reveal my weight lol...can I just tell you that I want/need to lose a stone and let you know if I lose any pounds?

I don't see why it's can't be relative to a hidden start weight.

well the current "heat wave" has resulted in a few more fizzy drinks and ice creams than I would normally have allowed myself and have cut what I do at the gym down loads but not put any weight on

i have been off the crap, and mostly drinking water, so here's hoping to a few shed pounds on saturday..

fizzy drinks and ice creams are a compulsary part of my diet!!!
i'm cutting out brocolli and marmite, the weight is falling off............. :bonk:

Well yesterday I was a hand model for my friend in Oxford and all I got fed all day was a saladbox!
I was so close to yelling 'Im a hand model not a bloody catwalk model... feeeeeed meeee!!!!' but I behaved myself, and felt so proud at the end of the day.
Then came the 3 hours of sweltering traffic jams to get home, so by the time I got there, the first stop was the fridge. 2 ice cold juices, 1 custard tart, 1 southern fried chicken, a jam tart and a cup of tea later and I felt human again.
This slimathon thing is going to be very hard going, Im really struggling to cut out the crap! :(
