TP 52'ers Class of 2016 Discussion thread Week 52 we made it! time to celebrate /( celebrations)

It really annoys me TBH, A little point and shoot with a 52x zoom is acceptable but a parent trying to get a few decent images of their kids with decent kit can end up "labelled"
or at the very least, please don't do that sir!
Oh me too. As a new parent I'd love nothing more than to take photos of my son but would be put off from even trying because if the fear of being labelled like that despite the fact I'd most certainly only be interested in my boy.

Was never an issue when I was wee :(

Tis today's modern paranoid society I'm afraid :(

I have pictures of my two running nakid on the beach ( well they were needed to embarrass them at their 18th birthday parties :D )
Now there is a whole generation missing out of the chuckle memories, because of a few arse's :(

Well, the lens is a bit of a beast. But unfortunately the autofocus doesn't appear to work unless I'm missing some particularly cunning trick. So it'll be going back to MPB since it was described as fully functioning! Grrr... at least I'll get some use out of it as a MF lens today at the dancing.

Nightmare :(

At least you've the option of returning it!

Not the end of the world - it means I can have a play today/tonight and decide whether I reckon I will use a lens like this... Not really any "option" about returning it - I'm definitely not after a MF 300mm prime lens as my MF skills are nowhere near good enough...

Not the end of the world, but it'll be interesting to see if I get any decent pics at the display... I'll be far more nervous about shooting at f/4 manually focusing so I may need to crank up the ISO a bit more. Hopefully 1/500 will be fast enough to freeze the action and minimise my camera shake.

I meant that it was a retailer who'll accept returns as opposed to say, an eBay seller who won't ;)

Thats a shame Paul, I have always found MPB very good. I remember having a little issue with my F4 500mm AF. I tried on a different body and it seemed fine. Put it back on the original body and
the AF seemed to of corrected itself. Might need a change of body ? Few quick shots, manual focus etc?

Thanks Chris... the reason I ordered it was partly because of the price and partly because it was from a "proper" shop, so I'm expecting MPB will sort it out after the weekend. Sadly it'll probably be a return and refund but I can wait until another comes up I guess.

I got some decent enough shots using manual focus. Sure, I had to spray a bit more than I usually would but it was workable. I'd just rather have an AF lens, obviously.

Good effort Andy - that's normally me but despite my kids' best efforts, I managed a lie in until 6 so feeling fresh as a daisy for a change :)

When do you head to the place-that-shall-not-be-named-for-fear-of-mass-jealousy?

I was up at 4:45 and am shattered already. So not a morning person!

I believe the right question is how much, Andy? Iceland is definitely on my to do list.

Around 700£ or 7 days in camper van

Cheers

That is excellent value! We're currently looking to book our summer holiday last minute for a fortnight's time and it's extortionate... oh for the days when we weren't tied to school holidays!
I'm not looking forward to that. We're away in Sep outside the summer hols and it's pricy enough [emoji15]

didn't he say something about black forest Gateaux? An Iceland speciality, presumably. :cautious:

I need a theme that's based around slobbing out on the sofa in front of Eurosport watching Le Mans 2016 for the whole of the weekend.
Just photograph something vaguely relevant on the telly :)

I'm after an Icelandic type theme

Indeed I did, I asked Dean to pick me up a frozen chicken, 2 multi packs of BBQ meat plus the BFG

And the rest of us can hope for a "Hot" theme, when I get around to it that is :D

So here we have it, don't forget as I posted last week its a (an optional) Re-shoot as well

But the sign(s) are looking good this week

Right, only 4 or 5 to go and I will have commented on all posts from pages 30 and 31.

I apologise for my tardiness but sometimes I just can't do it........

My double vision has more than doubled from prism 3 to prism 7 (you can probably tell :p) and the tennis elbow is now also golfer's elbow.....WTF......

MS can be even more of a bitch than me sometimes :angelic:

But I'm off to sunny Córdoba for 3 days so will post my pics when I get back.

PS, don't send hugs.....just alcohol :beer::beer::beer:. :whistle:

week 25...already...how does the time fly, a minute ago it was week 13.. so this saturday, is it another photo24? all those who felt the urge but didnt give in last time... give in this time..:banana::banana::woot::beer:
