Hi folks!
I really am a complete "noob" when it comes to life outside of a camera's "Auto" mode
, so expect a lot of dumb questions in the not too distant future. That said, I do intend to spend the first few days (weeks?, months?) wading through the instructional posts, elsewhere on the forum, as well as my new camera's (Olympus E 420) manual, before getting on your (collective) nerves
.
Although I am new to this forum, I'm no stranger to Internet forums in general and spend a lot of my time on an American Bassist's forum called, "TalkBass". Whilst not the most accomplished musician on the board
, I do hold the record for "Highest Amount of Totally Superfluous
and Irritating :annoyed: Emoticons in One Post" - :1st: an achievement that I'm very pround of and am very likely to continue to build on over here (except that I've just noticed that I'm limited to 10 images per post - damn it :-( )!
I also liked to add lots of photos, to accompany my posts on the bass forum, although I might be a bit intimidated to do so over here at TP, as they will be judged by the experts
. For instance, here are a couple of pics of my new camera (taken on my old Canon Ixus 75), which are probably object lessons in how not to light indoor shots ....
As far as what I hope to achieve, photographically-speaking, I at least want to be able to imporve the quality of the indoor pictures that I take of my (ever-decling) guitar collection and at best, would like to have the knowledge and ability to be able to take my SLR on trips into the nearby forest and get some really good nature and wildlife shots to add to my "portfolio". We'll see!
So, I look forward to dealing with you all in the weeks and months ahead and hope that the community here is as friendly and professional as it appears to be, at first glance
.
All the best,
Andy
