Absolutely outrageous, both of them price wise! Are they gold plated?Interesting that VW are reducing the price of the Golf Gif by almost £3.5k and upping the spec. You can spec a gti to over 40k. Yet you can buy a fully specced Focus RS for about 38k.
Fairly sure if the cost of the electric car is over £40k, it will still be taxed after year 1.only leccy cars get a free pass now as well.

For what the Focus RS is capable of, it's a bargain. They seem to have zero depreciation at the moment too. As for the Golf, like all VW's it is overpriced.Absolutely outrageous, both of them price wise! Are they gold plated?
But at least it's not a front wheel drive hatchbackhahaha yeah its 1000 years old
Nothing wrong with fwd.But at least it's not a front wheel drive hatchback![]()
Fractionally faster at the top end, fractionally faster to 62 than mine, I'll grant you, however, it'll ( they'll both) lose a lot more driving out the showroom than mine cost. For what the Focus RS is capable of, it's a bargain.
2nd hand Focus RS's are selling for new car money.Fractionally faster at the top end, fractionally faster to 62 than mine, I'll grant you, however, it'll ( they'll both) lose a lot more driving out the showroom than mine cost.
They are still way over priced tin cans.![]()

You could have added the Mountune M380 engine upgrade for just over £1k and the warranty wouldn't have been affected.Yes, it's nuts. I was looking at one a couple of months ago, and I was actually able to buy a new one for £2K less than a used one in the same showroom... yes I had to wait 2 months for delivery but I would have been fine with that. I didn't buy either in the end as following the test drive I was really disappointed with the performance.
All I can say is some people have more money than sense in that case !2nd hand Focus RS's are selling for new car money.
There's loads of them about, they drive Mercedes, BMW's, Audi's, VW's.All I can say is some people have more money than sense in that case !

Don't know, not many of them are willing to pay new car price for a used car, bonkers, it's not like the rs is a rare collecters modelThere's loads of them about, they drive Mercedes, BMW's, Audi's, VW's.
No but they are willing to pay way over the top for a new car just because it's "Prestigious". Mk1 and Mk2 Focus RS's are increasing in value. All Ford RS's become collectors models, some more than others.Don't know, not many of them are willing to pay new car price for a used car, bonkers, it's not like the rs is a rare collecters model
I bought one because it was what I wanted. I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. Why do you buy the type of cameras you use? I'm guessing you use some Chinese copy.No but they are willing to pay way over the top for a new car just because it's "Prestigious". Mk1 and Mk2 Focus RS's are increasing in value. Made in Japan actually and they work well for what I want / need and to top it all I didn't buy them, they were 25yr, 30yr and 35yr long service gifts from work. Another two years and I'll probably get another. Why do you buy the type of cameras you use? I'm guessing you use some Chinese copy.
No Ford bias, of course. No but they are willing to pay way over the top for a new car just because it's "Prestigious". Mk1 and Mk2 Focus RS's are increasing in value. All Ford RS's become collectors models, some more than others.
None at all it's fact, I get to see what goes into other more expensive makes of cars and the cost difference just isn't there. We have an engine in development at the moment, there is a whirring noise from a gear wheel they are currently trying to eliminate by re-engineering a part. BMW's solution to a similar problem is just slap more sound insulation on the engine and in the engine bay, yet they will have you pay thousands more for a "quiet" car.No Ford bias, of course.![]()

Buy what you likeSorry.
Not buying that you have no Ford bias whatsoever.![]()
I beg to differ, I thought it was slow and totally uninspiring, I was looking to trade down and buy one, as I had always fancied one, but wanted an AWD or RWD if offered. I was completely underwhelmed, thanks for graciously allowing me to buy what I like, I willBuy what you like, I see what goes into cars, how well they are actually made, how poor the pressings are on premium brands that with over 30yrs of experience in vehicle press tooling, their workmanship is really not acceptable. Yet people are prepared to pay well over the odds for it. For sheer value for money there isn't a new car that comes close to the £31k base price for a Focus RS nor the circa £38k for a fully specced RS.
And I'm willing to bet it's going to cost considerably more or less well specced.I beg to differ, I thought it was slow and totally uninspiring, I was looking to trade down and buy one, as I had always fancied one, but wanted an AWD or RWD if offered. Just like car repairs if you can't afford it don't buy it.
Not all car buyers will get clobbered. If I replaced my current car with the latest model it will be £60 a year cheaper from year 2.

Add another 4k to your fully specced RS and get a new 718 (Cayman) or 2k more than that for a Boxster. For sheer value for money there isn't a new car that comes close to the £31k base price for a Focus RS nor the circa £38k for a fully specced RS.
