Well, I am still like a dog with two willies :D can't get over the fact I won the second challenge, and was really pleased with all my entries as I specifically took each one to fit each of my chosen proverbs.

I have been thinking long and hard as I wanted to make sure everyone was in a position to enter on a reasonably fair playing field, so I discounted portraiture (my chosen field) as there are distinct advantages to those who have studio flash lights and backgrounds etc, I discounted sports and nature as too specialized and would give the advantage to those photographers who are experienced in the field. I thought about landscapes (my preference, pity I'm no good at them) but the weather is not too great at the moment and with the short day light hours and in the limited time of the challenge it does not offer a lot of options for people who work.

So, I wanted a theme that could be shot indoors or out, day or night, with good equipment or poor and hopefully will make people think about how the light (for that is what we are doing, painting with light) will effect the final image and continue their journey forward.

So after wading through the ravings of a madman, this weeks topic is:

Texture

Now I will be looking for something different, and the good use of light will assist in this. Entries can be posted from 8pm on Sunday 25th (my birthday) and the competition will close at 8pm on Thursday 29th

Good luck all and I look forward to wading through the multitude of entries on my return next Tuesday!

Sounds a great subject, best get

have a good time on holiday, where are you going
EuroDisney, taking my 2 daughters, their partners, 3 grandchildren oh and my In-laws (not my idea I can assure you) are tagging along. 11 of us in total.

Im gonna miss at least 1 or 2 of the challenges

have fun,

Ooo, how does this work? Where do we post entries?

Sorry for being so dense, but I didnt realise there were weekly 'projects'.

Yay! Can I play? :D

Got a shot I can use that I took earlier! Will upload shortly :)

You post in this thread AFTER 8pm Sunday 25th!! and before 8pm on 29th.

Ed, as winner of the previous round, gets to chose this theme. and pick the winner. The winner of this one will get to chose the next theme and judge it. HTH ;)

Ooops, sorry :p

:rules: :whistling:

no worries betty. I think the loose agreement in the previous two has been a maximum of three entries per person. The idea is to get you out shooting, out of your comfort zone and doing something different and filling the time between the monthly forum competition. Blame Edinburgh gary, he started it

He hasn't entered any yet though, has he? :whistling:

well he entered the chair one, it was his idea  I pressume his impending camping trip is keeping him occupied ;) We shall, never the less take the idea forward and run with it whilst people still want to play :D

Ooh, might give this a try myself! Not that I'm any good at sticking to these challenges... but hey! The more I enter the more likely I am to take one photo :p

I got a few things in the bag so far. I'll be getting more... just a shame I hadn't noticed this challenge before I posted my rusted barb shot... :bang:

I'll be in again! I've got a few from last week that would have been perfect for this....may have to think about a re-shoot;)

:woot: I woke up in the middle of the night and my subject idea just popped into my head, all I need do now is pull it off.

I'd try and keep my mough shut in future if I were you

Yeh shame about that John would been a good entry, you could re shoot it from a different angle

Not had the conditions for it, but I've got some others... I've been at it with the Raynox again...

oh no :help: ;)

Good one, Dave.

I really like the fact that these challenges make me think. I gave a lot of thought to mine, but I was unsure whether or not they fulfilled the criteria. So, I looked up the definition of Texture - "The distinctive physical composition or structure of something, especially with respect to the size, shape, and arrangment of its parts." This was one of the definitions, anyway.

So, yesterday I was out in my garden and took these....

This is lichen found on a twig. I just love the textures on this.

That Dave is brilliant . Jenny you're's are all good too...

Here's my efforts... Used the Raynox on the 55-250 to get these. Enjoyable to get, but too easy to get them totally wrong with the silly short DOF this setup gets at 250mm

An Onion. I can't believe I got the cell structure with the Raynox.
