That really is utterly disgusting. I really cant understand the mentality of the people who do such things.

I certainly feel for you here.

Makes me wonder though. whether it's worth getting a couple of luggage locks for my backpack when im out and about in a crowded place.

Thats real bad mate

I bought the lowepro 400 flipside for this very reason, the zips that open the camera part are at your back, it can be a pain at times having to keep taking it off to change lens etc but it keeps your gear safe

Are the cops involved? Was there CCTV?

Just found this:

To further enhance the security and safety of the half million plus adults and children who visit each year, Cadbury World, the UK visitor attraction devoted entirely to chocolate, has recently invested in a versatile high performance CCTV installation based on equipment supplied by Siemens Building Technologies Security Products. As part of Cadbury World's programme of continuous improvement, it was decided recently to upgrade the attraction's CCTV installation, as the existing system provided only partial coverage of the visitor areas.

I'm really sorry to hear that mate. Some people are just so ****ed up.

Definitely get the police involved, it's their job to help with these things.

Also keep your eye out on ebay to see if anything goes up :|

I just got a lowepro flipside 400aw in which the compartment can only be accessed from the back ( the side that faces your back ) so nobody can secretly pinch things...

Anyway, as i said - definitely get in touch with the police:police:

What an awful thing.

I hope that it brings you some comfort to know that the thieving scumbags will be sad pathetic little creatures trapped in pointless miserable lives. May they rot and fester in their useless and frustrating existance for a very long time.

Thanks everyone yes spoke to Cadburys today and they said sadly this does sometimes happen also I let the police know up there so hopefully they'll get them before it happens to anyone else

Hi Darren,
I use Nikon so am unlikely to see anything offered for sale in this area, but I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear of the disgusting theft that you suffered while visiting our area, I almost feel embarrassed. I agree with what the others have said, you really should involve the police and push them to get Cadburys to check their CTV. I have never been to Cadbury World but I am sure there will be notices somewhere absolving them of responsibility in these type of cases, but I would try and get them to do something. Perhaps being American owned now they may be a little more sensitive.

Disgusting behaviour, I hope you get your kit back sharpish.

may sound daft but keep your eyes out on gumtree.that place is currupt.always scams and dodgy stuff for sale

Theft while at Cadburys World

Oh dear! That really is a not good.. So, I wish to keep this thread on Topic and give it a bit of a Boost. I certainly don't want to veer into Chinese Whispas about the gangs who operate in Clusters, apparently the milk chocolate area is renowned for its very Curly Wurly footpath also known as the Milky Way. It is here that the gang operates and should therefore be avoided

For those who prefer not to walk, there is a Double Decker available but the seats can be a bit uncomfortable, some say a bit Crunchie.

The bus departs Bournville, Route E but it is a tad slow getting there.... However, it does stop on route for a Picnic....Give it a Twirl it's really very good . The driver is a nice lady, a bit of a Dream actually! I think her name is Claire? More commonly known as E-claire.

After the Ride please do thank her Nicely with a bunch of Roses and allow her a bit of Time Out as she can sometimes become a bit Flakey otherwise ..... :D

This is disgusting, I hope they find the scum :bat: :bat:

Do you mean the author of the post above yours? ;) .... Hands up..... It was me :D

Nice one Splog! Apart from that not a bad place to visit they give you a few free samples and the little tubs of warm chocolate very tasty. But not on such a hot day it stuck to your mouth like hot tar. I never new they built Bourneville the town big place

No I didn't aim that at you, I went away from the thread halfway through typing my little post and as a result when my post was made yours appeared above

That's okay! .... I guessed that was the case :) Ignore me, I'm bored!

Man, Im sorry to hear it, have you Insurance or something that cover's theft?

I'm sorry to hear about your stuff being nicked. I know it's already been said but keep your eyes on ebay, gumtree etc. Also ask the people who are local if they have a local free ads paper cos it would be worth checking those too.

Unfortunately in cases like this i doubt the police will be too much use unless Cadbury world actually have it on cctv. I'd provide them with serial numbers for your stolen kit if you can, you never know they might just find them in a drug raid or something.

I hope your kit was insured.

I've got 2 lowepro's a pro-runner and a fastpack. I've heard of similar things happening with backpacks, not just camera kit but backpacks in general. People opening them and nicking stuff on crowded trains etc so the pro-runner has travel padlocks on the zips for the camera compartment. The fastpack's camera compartment opens up right by my left elbow and i always have the zips around where my elbow is, and that's got a right hook from a rugby union prop forward attached to it for anyone who's brave enough to try that ;)

Sorry to hear about this mate.
I have a Lowepro Fastpack and the camera compartment is easily unzipped from behind. There are two zips on the "track" so I always keep them locked together with a small luggage lock. It can be annoying when I need to get my gear out asap but I'd prefer that than some scumbag unzipping it on a packed train or in a large crowd.

Unfortunately unless there is CCTV footage identifying the thieving barstewards then it is unlikely that the police will do much if anything to nab them. :(

Sorry to hear of your loss.. Some people cant help themselves. :(

Is there anywhere you can register the serials of stolen photography kit? Be good being able to do a check on serials before buying... Bit like the HPI checks you do on cars.

Sam

Unfortunately it does happen. I was walking through the city centre in glasgow once for about a 2 minute walk from my car to a uni building and on that trip somehow got my camera bag opened up. Fortunately nothing was taken though I did have a couple of lenses in there at the time. Can never be too careful.

Hi,

I work at Cadbury World, and am just wondering if you contacted a member of staff on the day of your visit?

Thanks

For this reason I keep carry my kit in a nondescript rucksack. Camera rucksacks are nice, but you might as well be carrying a big neon sign saying "expensive gear inside, please help yourself"..

A.

Ignore him, he's a grumpy :)

Do you have any plain clothes security in Cadbury World? Might be a good idea to have some floating around to keep an eye on anyone they see acting suspiciously.

Sorry if I've offended anyone, I've joined this forum to see if I can offer some assistance.

You haven't offended me. I'm sure th OP will appreciate any and all the help offered.

Welcome to TP:)

I'd like to know what I've done to make him grumpy?? All I'm trying to do is help.

We follow the guidelines from the larger part of the company so we follow their rules for security. It's a good suggestion though.

That will be great, thanks. I've spoken to several other members of staff, who apparently have had a look for the missing items, just incase they have been misplaced and I believe he has been in contact with our reception manager who receives any lost property or issues of the type.

If you can't get my email address, please pass on this one: cadburyworldwebsite@kraftfoods.com, as I also manage that email address.

Thanks

I'm curious how a Cadbury World employee picked up this thread...?

Probably similar to our company which has little drones finding any news stories etc on google related to our company and posts it in a news feed :D
