Not sure if you meant me or Radio4, Richard..re ' not concentrating on what China did or didn't do. Re. Radio4 . There were 4 programmes covering 2 hours. 8.00-10.00pm. I lost track as one ran into the other. Your comment would be valid if discussions (in general not just last night's programmes or my contribution above )were solely about China but they aren't. The programmes didn't concentrate on China . China was just one of many subjects covered in relation to the situation and contributions came from a variety of experts. Just to clarify that one aspect for myself I had a look at the time-line re China and how they dealt with it re the scientists and posted it. How S.Korea dealt with it was also brought up and as an aside I read that Vietnam dealt with it in short order too. Other countries were also covered.
Every day at the government's briefing journalists get the opportunity to put question to the panel to hold the government to account. As we've seen they don't always get an answer. This forum is full of criticism of our government's handling of the situation. In my post I added my two-pennyworth regarding China but I'd already highlighted the situation with that Liverpool v Atletico game and the Cheltenham Races and criticised HMG for allowing them, amongst other events, to go ahead. When you say that 'we' (theUK )need to put our own house in order first (before criticising China) that's for the government, we can't do anything other than hold the government to account through those briefings, via the media and now Parliament is 'sitting' through that channel too.
So, last night's programmes and my reference to China were just part of a mosaic of contributions to the ongoing debates, discussions and comments. What the world can possibly expect post the epidemic was also discussed. A very interesting 2 hours,I have to say.
I see New Zealnd were on the ball

I think we've had a misunderstanding here..the vagaries of forum talk. If we'd been having a cuppa..lol I'd have mentioned China you'd have said we need to sort ourselves out first,I'd have said, yes of course and when it's all over there will be our own inquiry ( a Leveson-type which has been mooted )and hopefully an international inquiry regarding the way it all started etc.
