Notice The TP 52 Challenge for 2021 chat / discussion thread Week 52 Showcase

Quiet week in the discussion thread!

And here we are again on the eve of the next one!

I would imagine that Covid would be part of the reason, given that at the beginning of the year during lockdown the 52 was a nice distraction and a good excuse to get out and be productive. Now that we have returned to a relative normal, time passes by really quickly. Then before you know it you're four or five weeks behind. That's certainly the case for me especially as I have been working nights pretty much none stop since I have been redeployed.

Although I've noticed that a few people are catching up!

However as this is my first year perhaps its lot quieter than normal?

I would also add that I've really been enjoying the 52 and I wish I started years ago. I learnt so much about my camera and different techniques and I love seeing how everyone tackles each theme. I often find myself thinking "Why didn't I think of that!"

Hopefully things will pick up (y)

TBH it looks like people are generally losing interest in the 52 :(
Aww, don't say that. I've had a bit of a blip recently due to life getting in the way but am back up to speed. The 52 does me a great favour by making me pick up the camera at least once a week and, if not out deliberately, it makes me more aware of photographic opportunities when I'm on the daily grind. I'd hate to see it end .

Finally! after several weeks of flat grey sky's and ( at times heavy / torrential) rain.
Yesterdays storm seems to have cleared the sky's..... Zoo here I come (y)

Before I do, I have say its been quite an Irregular ( that'll make you think) thing for a very long time

Also, remember there are, just 2 more opportunities ties to try the technique,
this week and next week.

How irregular! Nice one :)

Noooo! I have been very inactive recently due to illness mainly and then trying to catch up on life.

Let's just say some of us have been more irregular in our visits here . I've only dipped into this section at all for the last few weeks.

Irregular.... hmmmm.... tricky...

It's quite irregular to be told the theme so early :D
Just a screen grab should cover it then :D

I'm not having a go at anyone, when I say, for quite sometime, people have been saying, life's getting in the way, or sorry I've not had time to comment and other such things...
OK so I admit this was me back in the summer, but it was for the good of ( saving) the forum generally.
There is still a lot of images being posted, which is good, but the comments have been diminishing, for quite sometime.
In just over a month I'll be setting up the threads for 2022... maybe...

Oooh.....tricky...

That's the plan you've all had it far too easy recently :D

I’m probably one of the worst culprits for not commenting but it’s certainly not down to a lack of interest. Since before the pandemic kicked off I’ve been dealing with a lot of issues (both personal and work) that have taken a lot of time as well as having a fair impact mentally and emotionally. As a result despite browsing the forum regularly mean that I don’t post a lot. I think it’s fair to say that because of this I’ve needed something like the 52 as a reason to make the effort to at least get out with the camera to get a shot for the week and to be honest it’s been a distraction that I’m not sure I could have coped without at times :)

I'm trying to comment more frequently, although still consider myself a very much a newbie with a lot to learn to turn a snap into a photo and as such find it challenging to make constructive comments on others photo's beyond "great shot" or "nice photo". However, I do enjoy the challenges and get a nice sense of community on here.
The weeks do come round quickly though :D

I know what you mean. In my first 2017, I felt under pressure to make comments constructive, and also to try and deliver something interesting, but now I will sometimes (perhaps too often?) say 'nice shot'. It all feels a little bit more relaxed these days, and I think that is a good thing.

It would be nice to be able to make the effort every week to get something worthwhile, but in reality I am often just trying to get something to fit the theme, and would not want to share the photos outside of the 52.

I love the fact that the 52 gives me something to think about photographically, even if I rarely execute my ideas. Certainly during lockdowns it was a very welcome distraction.

Keep up the good work, team!!

That was the way I was slowly moving it to, more relaxed, its supposed to be fun (y)
1 image a week? pah! that's easy!
That is of course until we try to do it, especially as the weeks seem to only consist of 3 or 4 days, nowadays.
Retirement boring? I'd answer, how the hell did I find time to go to work!

I'm not expecting everyone to give in depth critique on everything,
But reciprocal comments here and there, are always appreciated, by everyone.

I was just slightly saddened ( and becoming a little disheartened if I'm honest) that any comments were becoming very scarce, from some people.
Even "I like that" etc. would be nice, and give, I feel, would give the poster a little boost, or encouragement,
which I feel we all may need at some point.

On me hols this week so limited to cafe Wifi and not very good 4g in places on my phone. I’ll try to get this week’s photo up tomorrow and maybe a few comments!

Now I'm back to work and with a 3y old and a 9month old it's proving difficult.

Might resort to some less technical photos and just get some snapshots.
For red I'd love to go and find some mushrooms. Might see what's red in work, lol. You think I'm joking.

Well here we are again at T -1 day!!!!:naughty::banana:

I'm away for a week from Friday. I hope we get something I can fit into my holiday to Devon.....

"Snow"?
:D

I'm on it guys give me a few mins there is a lot of managerial stuff happening at the moment, nothing to worry about its "our issues" :)

I'm having problems with the current technique - free lensing. Tried it this morning and got absolutely nothing. Just saw grey when I looked through the viewfinder. I may have to pass on this one but does that mean I don't get a pass for the 52??? If it does, then I will persist and get something for next week but really really struggling!

Thanks @Cobra - I will persist but I think it's going to be my bogey! I will have more time this week so depending on the theme, I will have another go. Even when I was trying it in the house, I still couldn't get anything!!

Right then Week 43
What else was it likely to be other than Halloween

But you made need to think a little laterally on this one, not everyone has a pumpkin or a residential ghost.

Last chance at the technique too free lensing

Hmmm and I was convinced it was going to be 'regular' :ROFLMAO:

Quite a tricky one for me though I know I have one in the archives....

@Scots_quine I used a magnifying glass - if you happen to have one around? Or a pair of spectacles? Or maybe even the bottom of a glass?

I have an idea but it's way lateral thinking and a shot from a couple of weeks back!

Nice one Chris. :cobra:

I got the shot yesterday I must have some psychic power to know in advance.
