The TP 52 -2023 The sign up and chat thread Week 52 Your favourite image from 2023

The idea of the tech is that at least one image would be a composite, not an image of something composite.
The theme is distant, NOT composite. I sometimes wonder why I bother :(
Sorry, I was just being silly, I'll stop.

It was a general heads up, it wouldn't be the first time someone has done something similar ;)

You could do a composite image of something composite in the distance though! Just sayin :exit:

Rules are meant to be broken, as they often are in here

Well, twisted to the point of near failure at least!!!

Got me a few likely distant shots that 'would do' - but as usual I'll see what else presents itself before I post.

Hi all, I seem to be falling behind again, I can't blame illness this time, I feel I may need to back out, I don't want to quit as it's not me, I just don't want to let everyone down.

I wanted to try and make a real effort with the images but I seem to run out of time to set things up after work, home work and house work... I know I could probably leave the local wildlife alone for a bit but it's my way of 'resetting' my mental state.

Thank you to @Cobra and @LC2 for all you've done and I'm sorry.

Don't worry Gav, and there is no reason why you can't dip in and out if you want to, there are no penalties for not doing it all

I might need to play catch up this week too. Overcast skies have made my home based distant plans fall by the wayside and needing to be close to home has kept me... well, close to home! HOPEFULLY I'll be able to be a bit more distanced from home after today but with thunder rattling the windows, I'm not sure a camera wants to be out!!!

Time to do this.... :runaway: :runaway: :runaway: if you haven't got your distant pix sorted yet!!!

You guessed it - it's THEME EVE and the Snakester is already pondering tomorrow's challenge!!!!

 :naughty:

Sorry for the lack of comments over the past couple of weeks. I've just about caught up on the themes and I'll get my act together with commenting again this week :)

Week 19

And over a 1/3rd of the way through.

I guess there maybe a few people, feeling like this over the week-end.

Fragile

Yegadz TPers it's that time again!!!! Get those fragiles up (carefully) and get yer heads straight for tomorrow's new theme!

And there we have it, another week with 2 Thursday's

Week 20

And this weeks theme will probably be of little surprise for you that follow the themes closely,
or even in a Robust manner.

(you may need a dictionary or even a thesaurus for this one)

After consulting the dictionary and thesaurus, I would say there is a very wide scope to play with this week.
The little grey cells are off and running.

I was feeling pretty robust doing my rehab, another good theme and really is an open one.

Am I correct in thinking a focus stacked image is a composite?

Simply put, composite photography is when a photographer uses two or more different images to create one new image.

Also

In the digital world, a double exposure image is basically a type of composite. It can be done in-camera or after the fact in PS - but in the end, two distinctly separate images are being composited together.

And

When shooting a landscape, it can often be difficult to expose properly for the sky and land alike. If a graduated filter isn’t easily available, the next easiest solution is to take two photos — one exposed for the sky and one of the ground — and then stitch them together in post-production, masking out the parts you don’t need.

Be sure to shoot on a tripod when stitching together images like this to ensure both photos line up accurately.

Composite photography is also a great way to edit out unwanted people in your photos, especially if photographing in a busy tourist area. Take multiple photos on a tripod, and layer the images one on top of the other. After that, simply erase anything you don’t want to see in the final photo.

Astro photography has another benefit from composite photography — known as stacking — to get rid of visual “noise” when shooting long exposures.

Shooting on a macro lens can come with the disadvantage of losing details outside the narrow depth of field afforded. Some photographers will shoot multiple photos at different focus marks so that the insect, tree frog, or other minute subject being captured comes out in greater detail.

Like the stacking method for astrophotography, this is known as focus stacking. This method can also be helpful for landscape photography when it’s necessary to have elements in the foreground and background in focus. Again, shoot on a tripod.

Also, you have the live composite mode on some cameras where it will take a series of images (say lights on a motorway at night) and the stitch / stack them (sorry not sure on the correct terminology) into a single image.

My GX9 also has a mode called sequence composition:

5. Sequence Composition mode
Sequence Composition is a brand new 4K Photo mode that is currently exclusive to the GX9.

It allows you to select a series of images from a 4K Photo movie clip and instruct the camera to combine them into one composited image, all in-camera

So they are all forms of composite photography?

Also, the technique is composite. I never mentioned Composite photography in the technique announcement
And the dictionary describes that as
noun. /ˈkɒmpəzɪt/ /kəmˈpɑːzət/ [countable] something made by putting together different parts or materials.

I hope people will take the themes in the spirit they were intended.
However, I can lead you all to water, I can't make you drink or indeed enter into the spirit of the themes or techniques.

@Cobra

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be funny. I was just after some clarification. If you type into Google composite photography these articles pop up.

If it can be any of the above, or even an image of something made of two different things then that's fab.

Didn't want to end up falling foul of the rules because of my own misunderstanding.

Example, I'm having my drive done this week so later today I could come home and get a picture of the bricks around the edges and the mud / soil in the middle. Is that composite? Mud / dirt and grey drive way bricks? That's two different materials for example.

Again, not trying to be funny or cause an issue at all.

If it is whatever we want it to be then that's also fab.

:headbang:

I could have shoehorned my last week's shot into the technique since CF is a composite! However, as you say, probably not quite the spirit!!! Now, adding water to Ouzo makes it a composite and there's no denying the water will be going "in the spirit"... :P

It’s here again…. Muhahahaaaaaa….

You know what it is!

Muuuuuhahahaaaaaa…..

Hope things work out ok Dave!

Sorry to hear that Dave, I hope it all comes good in the end.
