What a joke these guys are now, I was a long standing member for years untill 10 minutes ago, It all started last month when they sent me a letter saying they could not get the monthly payment from our bank, so I checked the bank and no problem there so I phoned RAC to find out what was happening.

They cannot take payment because the account name is not mine its Eileens, so why the problem now they have only been taking it for a few YEARS for the same car with no call outs whatsoever, so the gent on the phone sorted this for me or so we thought.

For the last couple of weeks we have recieved our new card and details along with the same letter every day stating they cannot take payment and after numerous phone calls which all the time ends with "you will have no more problems or letters" what a joke now they have sent me a letter stating my cover has ran out because of their incompetance so I gave them one last phone call to let them know I am now covered by the AA and lo and behold a text message on my mobile saying it was a clerical error and did I want to use the same bank account SOD OFF was the answer then an email asking the same to which I told them exactly what I thought of them and I now have AA cover for £1.48 a month less but the cover is better....no more text or email messages:thumbs:

Make sure they don't take any payments, I swapped from the AA to the RAC and the AA kept taking payments, despite me cancelling the mandate - took 6 months to sort it out :annoyed:

could be hard due to the fact they wouldnt take payment when I was with them lol

all's well then

/me dons his V. Meldrew slippers
it's mind boggling how all of these companies are such slaves to computers.

i get quite irate when i'm told by my bank that the computer says no! i mean really , who works for who here, the computer is a tool to assist you not the other way around.

/me removes slippers

Just as well you didn't need the RAC. My mate broke down at around 13:00 pm on the way home from work a few years back. Luckily I was driving along behind him. I drove him to a service station to telephone them, he gave them the exact location of his car, then I drove him back again. I sat with him for a while, then carried on my way home. After I'd had my dinner, I had the feeling he might just still be there waiting. So I made him a flask of soup, grabbed a couple of bread rolls and my wifes mobile phone, then drove back to see if he was still there. It was now around 18:00pm and yes he was still there. He'd already phoned his wife when we rang the RAC, but a stretched limo had pulled into the lay-by behind him and he'd borrowed his phone to ring his wife again. His wife had rung the RAC twice. Eventually the RAC arrived around 22:00pm almost 11 hours after he had originally rung them. Their excuse was they had been looking for him on the A1306 (old A13) instead of the A13, where he'd told them he was.

I agree you're better off with the AA - I'm with the RAC (family choice, not mine!!) and they are thoroughly useless..in one instance the AA actually pulled over to help me out whilst I was waiting for the RAC to come on out...!
