THE PP GAME!

Here's my go:

IMG_8923 by Adrian Deans, on Flickr

Liquified the cats right eye smaller. Duplicate layer, gradient map (teal>Orange) set blend mode to linear dodge, bit of de-sat around the face, added more contrast around the face. Added contrast to all. Increased canvas size, content aware scale to get to portrait orientation. Pre-made a mask and used it with lens blur. Filled background with black, select image layer, stroke with 4px brush. Added text.

well done Adey. That change of composition was well thought out

Congrats Adey

Thanks guys, i have 3 cats of my own so i've had a lot of practice with the furry ones :)

This time i though i'd mix things up a bit. I've chosen a football photo (featuring Argyle legend Tommy Tynan). I know its probably gonna be a challenge for people to come up with ideas. I know there's not a lot to work with, but thats the point, i want to see what people can add to the picture. Rather than just fixing things that are already there, i want people to go crazy and be creative. If the response to this pic isnt to good, im happy to either put something else up, or let someone else post something (all i have is football, landscapes and cats).

Full size available on flickr,

Good luck!

Congrats Adey. Very creative entries as already mentioned.

Adrian. Not wanting to put a damper on things but I thought this thread rules didn't allow or encourage adding or getting extreme with the images? or as it changed (I'm not reading through all those pages) just courious.
Wayne

I'm so sorry, to be honest, I only came into this on the last page, I hadn't read the rules, I will remove. I'm so sorry:(

you will be taken into the town square and placed in the stocks while we all throw tomatoes at you :D

don't worry about it... you did nothing wrong. Put your pic back up and then Adey / The OP can decide what's allowed. But i don't think you strayed too far off the guidelines

Ade did say he wants people to go crazy and be creative for this round so I think in view of that Willmorh's edit was just fine and she should put it back up. I did see it and I thought it was OK anyway given the brief for this round.

i'm in... (just realised i've spelt Tynan wrong :bonk:)

adey by leftcurl, on Flickr

tighter crop
desat 50% (ish)
levels adj to dampen the brightness a little
apply 'cutout' filter
desat a bit more
increase canvas size to apply border
add the text.

A bit off topic but you think you have problems! I used to frequent the family gunmakers Wiseman and Sons and one of the sons, Brian, was a brilliant engraver. They made a matched pair of shotguns for a customer and they were handed over to Brian for final engraving. He engraved the guns with beautiful game scenes of pheasants, hares and Springer Spaniels all over the sidelocks. As a final touch he engraved the family name F.J. Wiseman and Sons in a little inset on each sidelock....

... and missed the E out of Wiseman on both guns!

bet he got 'both barrels' of his old fella

It wasn't my intention to stray of the rules, my wording was probably a bit off when i said "add to the image". I didn't mean necessarily adding new elements, i just meant play around, cut things up, use filters/textures etc.

The examples i've seen so far (haven't seen wilmorh's yet) have been the type of thing i was thinking of, so good work guys!

Wayne: Not a problem mate, i appreciate it.

Wilmorh, could you put your pic back up please?

-Adey

Well, Adey, did say get creative and I love a challenge;). Well I spent the best part of 6 hours+ on this. Could of spent more with text creativity but alas I got bored. Now if it was Chelsea that would be another matter...........:bat: I think I'm gonna play Argyle in Football Manager 2011 next. Should be a laugh!!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::bat:

My post wasn't aimed at you, only the OP (if he's still around) wanted to keep this editing thread for just editing the pic rather than adding things. That said I don't know if the position has changed since I last posted a pic here (been busy for a while) so I may be totally wrong.

Please don't remove your pic on my behalf, as others have said put it back up and let Adrian or the op decide.

Good point though. I totally lost the plot of the thread intentions with this one. If I'd seen you post first it would of reminded me of that and I wouldn't of posted or created mine. I'll leave mine up but do understand that it's its not within the rules.

There are some good edits on what is quite a challenging pic! Well done all:)

Yours is amazing:clap: would love to know how you acheive this sort of thing:)
