THE PP GAME!

Winner
I'm going with Adrians version but there were a few I really liked.
Over to you Adey

Heres mine.

Im really trying to go beyond my comfort zone with these edits, so forgive my vague explanations.

What i did;

Used ACR to play with the colour adjustments, tried to manipulate the colours into something more pastel-like and painterly. Didnt do a great deal with the other settings apart from a tweak of temperature/contrast that type of thing. Created 3 exposures at2 stop increments (-2, 0, +2) and used photomatix to create a more painterly tone pallette (not typical HDR look). Exported this as 16bit tiff, and opened in photoshop. Selected the whole image and defined as pattern. Created new layer and using the pattern stamp tool (set to the defined pattern and impressionist), i painted in the features of the image using gradually smaller brushes to bring out the details. I then combined this 'painted' version with the (pre-edited) original using a lot of experimenting with different blend modes, cant remember this stage too well im afraid. Next i wanted to get rid of the foreground so i made a selection of the top portion of the image, flipped it upside down and placed it at the bottom. Next i created a new layer and rendered some clouds. I then squashed this layer right down so it looked like ripples, duplicated this layer twice and placed them on top of each other so that combined they covered the bottom 3rd of the screen. Merged these new ripple layers. Transfered this layer to a new document and saved as .psd. Next i selected my 'mirror' layer again, and applied a displacement map using the 'ripple' psd. I then used the 'ripple' layer over the mirror layer and set to overlay or multiply i cant remember. Bit of dodge/burn.

Finished of with a border using Canvass size and put Wayne's name on the bottom using Augustus font.

:)

Good choice there Wayne it's a very Monet type pic, congratulations Adey.

Really beautiful edit Adey, congratulations :)

I haven't taken part in the competition/game, but have watched it with interest, and your winning version was superb Adrian. The deserved winner against very good other entries.

Not perfect by any stretch but just don't have the time to do more.

Here's a go

Adey_TPPP2.jpg

B&W via gradient map, curves tweaks, copy top of sky, paste, flip vertical, position & blend to suit, duotone, dodge & burn with 50% grey layer in overlay mode, slightly darkened off rails at the base to stop your eyeballs following the track out of the pic, duplicate and then a smidge of diffuse glow, general spot healing bits & bobs (sensor marks) I think that's it.

Joan

opened in raw, sharpened, increased clarity, fill light and recovery, in luminance lowerer the blues till the sky apeared clear and blue, reduced the greens and aquas, opened in cs5 and cloned out some stuff by the track, and that is it

Probably taken this one too far, as its looking a little nuked now.:D

Open in ACR hit auto, increase fill light. Save as Tiff and open in Paint shop pro.
Duplicate FG blend mode to soft light
Duplicate sky, blend mode to multiply x 2
Clarify
Increase warmth
Add selective red filter over part of sky
Unsharp mask

I think I might have to sit this one out! I've tried but can't seem to get inspired...I'm losing it... :S

To me that says "This pic is too boring for me to think of anything"

If i ever win again Phil i'll post something more exiting, it did occur to me before posting that i should post something a bit different to whats been posted already, but im not sure i have any exiting pictures:thinking:

What time should i call it Phil?

Amazing light on the rail shed, chrissie.

bit of marmite maybe with the lens flare.. but hey

Using Elements 9:
adjusted raw with -0.65 exp, fill light, shade wb, reduce saturation
Adj layer with levels for sky, then painted out the foreground
Adj layer with levels for f/ground, then painted out the sky
Reduce highlights
Increase saturation (reds)
Add lens flare with filter

Well this time I've gone for something quite different to what I'd normally do.

My aim was to try to get something that looks like a vibrant pen & wash painting.

I basically used some Topaz plugins such as simplify to create a line drawing and watercolour painting I then adjusted them in Photoshop with blending modes I also used an inverted B&W image with colour dodge blend mode.

I wasn't going to bother but I thought I'd throw this together..

I'm off out but if anyones interested I'll edit tomorrow with method.:beer::beer:

OK OK!!! I'll join in after all!

Made into 3 -+3 EV images, then put together in photomatix. Converted to B&W and reduced yellows, increased red slightly. Used "small details" preset in topaz adjust, burned sides and top of clouds.

Sorry, been working...judging by the last few games, people get their edits in early then its a bit silent for a good day or so...perhaps by tomorrow sometime?

I think that people are waiting to see what others do before they put anything up;)

I like the original image but was curious to see how it could be cropped....

tripething.jpg

Crop was done to put bridge pillars in top left and building in bottom right, and use the train track to move your eye up and down, not a clue if it works. As for the photoshop faffing... in raw mode: gave it a warm white balance, tried to remove the minor CA and recovered detail in the sky. Then cropped and stretched (except the buidling), removed distracting things (buidlings, wires and bright stones), pulled the sky down and darked the left corner.

Ok guys, here is my edit.

HDRbridge by Adrian Deans, on Flickr
Made 3 exposures, put through Photomatix. Cloned out storage tanks amongst the bushes/changed their colour. Used LAB mode to bring out the blue in the sky without killing the yellows in the sky. Some contrast tweaks, bit of dodge and burn.

And now for the winner;

Chose Paul because of the use of colour mainly, love the peachy-ness to it. Plus i like the way the tones site together.

Over to you Paul!

Congratulations Pork :)

saved 5 raw files and loaded them in photomatix, altered sliders till i reached something i was happy with, saved the file, openend with cs 5, saved as 2 files, 1 darker 1 lighter to bring out sky a bit, copied and pasted the lighter one over the other then erased the sky to reveal a darker sky, and lighter bottom part, flattened image, done

pp2.jpg

my take on the shot. made it lighter and added darker. sharpened, added more saturation. nothing out of the ordinary really..x
