Just been reading through old posts and it seems all the original posters have left or only very rarely come here and I have noticed there seems to be a bit if a clique going on, now dont think its me being over picky or my shots not getting the views, its definately nothing to do with it.
It just seems that if you dont do Oulton park or Whipsnade zoo you are a non entity here.
All the old posters have left for a reason and TP seems to be quiet of late or all posts on other peoples posts seem a bit snidey rather than informative.

Bitchin yes I am ............Bitchy no I am not:shrug:

I like this place but it is gettin very clicky again and where are the mods they were always in threads commenting.........

Hmmm, not sure I agree with you 100% here Peter.

I don't tend to look at the motorsports section and rarely visit that area (actually, I have a bookmark link that specifically excludes new posts from there), nor have I been to Whipsnade Zoo, but though I don't class myself as anywhere near as good as many here, I don't class myself as a non-entity here either!

Forums will always be somewhat cyclical. I too own and manage a very large forum, and it's the same there too with many of the 'old guard' no longer around, or only visiting every now and then. People come and go, and new members continue to come along - thus the cycle continues.

I will say though that on times there certainly is a feeling of 'cliqueiness', especially from the perspective of a minority kit user, but I find the 'report post' function very useful, as well as the superb good humour prevalent from those far better qualified to comment than some (FitP for example!! :) )

It's all part of the fun I guess.

This is really part of what I wanted to say but without sounding like I was snobby or above anyone else but I coldnt find the words so cheers for this.

TP in general is a nice place to come but it is getting a bit clicky maybe a good thing or maybe a bad thing but to me it seems if ya face dont fit ya not commin in sort of place and its going to put people off

I haven't found TP to be clicky as such but then I've never found myself being part of the "in crowd" on any forum.

Jinkies I am a none entity :( Never been to Oulton or Whipsnade. Aw shucks :(

I went to Whipsnade when I was a kid, but never been to Oulton Park, what does that make me? Only kind replies permitted.

OH,you are a non Oultoner,can i join your club.:lol::thumbs:

:lol::D:thumbs::woot:

I've never been to Oulton Park, but I'm a Friend of Whipsnade (well, ZSL). Does this make me a half entity? :D

I think maybe that Oulton and Whipsnade are two very frequent "Meet" locations so maybe the fact that people know eachother from these meets makes them seem like a clique (I suppose you could also put those who attend regular London meets in that bracket). I'm pretty sure that is merely a perception though, I am happy to have the same banter with those I have met as with those I haven't and I'm pretty sure others dare as well.

never been to either place.

there did used to be a clique, a trail of smut and that spread round the forums, thanksfully that has gone, there will always be little groups who stick together but they are much more welcoming than previous years cliques.

As for quiet, im afraid not, much more busy now, infact the last few weeks have been some of the busiest.

As for mods not commenting, half the slackers are away, the other half are quietly deleting threads without attracting attention to themselves...

Did someone say something  :D

I've never been to Oulton park
nor do I particularly "like" motorsport
Though I do "talk" to Matt sometimes :p

I "do" Whipsnade sometimes and organise the TP annual trek there
But I will and have talk (ed) to you Pete as you know :D

You can be in my Clique of 1 if you like, and double the membership

There are little groups forming ( have formed) as people get to know
each other and meet each other.

And of course as I and others have said in the past
A lot get pee'd off with "non response" by a few, to critique or advice given

and its only natural to stick to "groups" that post picture types
that are of interest.

It would also seem that the ignore button is getting used
a lot more than it did a year or so back, my personal opinion is that
if someone ignores me twice, they are either to arrogant or lazy to respond
OR I am on their ignore list.
Which ever the answer is it would be pointless me posting any further help or critique
Lifes a bitch
( then you marry one :help:)
.

Aint done that in a while Chris...

But anyways. I know what you mean. It even goes asfar as the member, people who dont post as much as the other lot, dont get the replies in the thread. You get like 1000 views, but only 10 comments.

My two cents anyways

I've been on TP for years & been everywhere :D

but then again I'm a bit of a slapper ;)

I feel a bit nouveau :(

but if it helps I have never been to either place and am uncertain of where they are :D

Whatever you do, don't mention the 'C' word around here.

oooooooooh! Too late :bang:

Surely geography is always going to be a problem for some of these outings?

I'm not sure where Oulton park is, but Whipsnade is miles from here. (Used to go there a lot as a kid)

I'm hoping to go to a Macro meet if somebody gets around to answering my question about where it is, but it looks like the weather may cancel it anyway.

How you use the forum is obviously going to affect your usage of the site. My PC is on 24/7 and has two tabs for the site, new posts and for sale.

I've learned stuff from all the specialists forums, I wouldn't want to limit myself to only one of them.

Never been to Oulton park or Whipsnade

Nor am I a professional "Tog"

I am just a guy who has an interest in taking pictures and I am very new to the world of DSLR cameras, having bought my first ever DSLR camera just over 3 months ago.

I have looked at many photographic forums and this is the one I thought was the best.

I have found the members here to be very helpful and understanding.

I like it here and intend to stay :)

I wouldn't say i had been on here ages or post a lot, but i tend to just look nowadays and try and pick up tips from what has been posted by others.

It seems whenever folk ask a genuine photography question there is two groups who reply, the amateurs who try to help the best they can from previous experience, and then the pro's who seem to mostly leave comments which are either a) not much use at all b) seem a little snidey c) kinda make sense but still dont understand!

I'm not slating the pro's or anything. Just simply saying it as how i see it. You've only gotta look at the business section for some examples.

I am in that camp too.

I love everyone, you are all my friends :D

I've never been to either of the above venues, and tbh I've never noticed any sort of clique with people that do.

I've technically been here a while, and I've had a break/come back etc.
I am a returnee!

Aww, all round yours for hugs then? :D

Hell yeah, TP meet at my place for guiness record attempt for biggest group hug by photographers :D

You saying TP'ers are sweaty?!? See, this is why we have the issue ;) Haha!

Hang on a minute, I've changed me mind. I didn't get an invite to the last Whipsnade one, bleedin' cliques! :suspect: :p

:p

You have my personal invitation to the next one Marc

Please God don't let him see this :D
