I was having a drink and a chat with a bloke over a pint yesterday.
I discovered he was worth around £4 million and he shared the amazing story of how he got so rich.
Basically, when he left school he had little or no formal qualifications but he was good with his hands and he knew how to sell.
He knew he was never going to make it in an office job so it was nose to the grindstone time.
He told me how he left school at 15 and bought an old caravan cheap and spent a few weeks fixing it up, he then sold it for profit.
He then used the money to buy another and so on.
He did this a lot over the next 35 years, buying, repairing, selling, buying again.
He eventually moved onto motorhomes in the 90's and then onto cars in the last eight or nine years even during the real bad times he plugged away.
He worked long hours sometimes not seeing his wife and kids for days in pursuit of his goal.
Then he won the lottery.

A fifteen-year-old Amish boy and his father were in a shopping centre. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slide back together again.

The boy asked, "What is this Father?"

The father (never having seen a lift) responded, "Son, I have never seen anything like this in my life, I don't know what it is."

While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, an old woman with a cane moved up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened, and the lady ambled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched the small numbers above the walls light up sequentially.

They continued to watch until it reached the last number… and then the numbers began to light in the reverse order.

Finally, the walls opened up again and a gorgeous 24-year-old blonde stepped out.

The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly to his son.....

"Go get your Mother."

  • It's gone folks

If you feel that you'd like to move on to another photography forum - have you ever posted a single picture here? - then you don't need to wait to get banned.

Seriously for a moment, Lindsay and Chris (and others you don't see) put a lot of work in keeping TP going as a photographic resource, yet you come here to p*** and whine about unrelated stuff. It wouldn't be so bad if you even posted pictures and took part in the actual photographic side of things, rather than just hanging out in a gear thread when you aren't in the lounge.

Ask yourself - if you left tonight, how many here would wonder where you were, would miss your contributing from your experience, or wish you were still posting pictures?

So please, if this is all you want to offer here, don't hesitate to move on.
