Got my BT bill today and I'm not mean but as a matter of principle feel annoyed about the calls to Fuji on their 0844 number which are chargeable. I should of looked on saynoto0870 numbers for an alternative :bonk:
The alternative is 01234 217724 and ask for Digital Camera Support department.
Blimey 103 pages and I only wanted a brief summary of owners thoughts on the X10 so far! I can't read all that, so is anyone able to put the salient points from this thread into a short paragraph or two?
What is the situation with the 'orb' issue? Are new cameras coming out with revised sensors/firmware, or whatever is needed to resolve this?
Sorry, only just started researching this and so far it looks like a toss-up between the X10 and the Canon GX1.
I come from initially using Canon 40D/550D, then downsizing to Lumix G3, now thinking about this, as I don't get enough use to justify numerous lenses sitting around, etc.
OK cheers Duncan, that makes sense - if it ain't (observably) broke, don't fix it!
cheers!![]()

Is there any sure way to tell if a new one has the revised sensor?
How long does it take for the postage boxes to arrive? Got an e-mail over a week ago saying they were sending me a box but its still not here.

I can't blame Fuji - apart from deciding to use City Link...

When I upload pictures to TP they never look as good as on my laptop (like the last post of mine)
Is there a technique where I am missing the point with or does it apply to everyone every time![]()
I think a lot of the photo sharing websites like photobucket apply 'corrections' to images. I've read quite a lot of posts grumbling about how they ruin the image. Flickr et al are notorious for it...
However, probably a good thing for 80% of the population, but less good when you have prepared the image on a calibrated monitor and have it just right.
If you aren't using a calibrated screen then photobox may be trying to fix your dark/light, over/under saturated image for you.
Even 'pro' sites like Smugmug apply sharpening to the viewed image, but at least all the modifications are under complete control of the account holder.
If you have no way of getting what you want from Photobucket then probably time to look elsewhere.
Fist place to go for comparison has got to be the TP Galleries!
1) If you buy a new or possibly refurb X10 is there a way to know you are getting one with the revised sensor and software and not older stock?
2) If you buy a refurb from Fuji, does anyone know if they still do a sensor change and software update either as it comes or do you have to return it?
3) If I acquired an updated X10 either new or secondhand with the sensor change, does that mean the software will have already been done? Some posts seems to read that a second return to Fuji has come around for a newer software release after some X10's had previously had the sensor change. Is the soiftware not user upgradeable?
4) Is it quite a quick and silent camera in operation (e.g no zoom motor)? I do a lot of street/urban stuff where I was looking for speedy and unobtrusive but capable of A3+ images. I do some on my Canon G11, but I don't like the motor driven zoom.
Thanks
Hi all, very interested in an X10, or maybe an X100, and have tried to read up in this thread but there are thousands of posts although I am mainly interested in its revised orb issue/software updated latest form. I have a couple of easy questions if anyone could summarise an answer...

LOL - it's City Link - who knows!
Having done a drive by and don't care to me on Monday, I rearranged for Thursday (tomorrow).
I've been away and just got back to find they have made attempts to deliver both days I have been away and now they have defaulted to only option is me to pick up from the depot.
Their office is open at 8am tomorrow...
Cue Mr Angry from Somerset! :bang:
It will be a cold day in hell before I ever send anything via City Link :bang:
allanm said:I must say I have never had a problem with City Link. A few years ago, I used to get parcels delivered very regularly and the guy would turn up like clockwork at 1030.
One day, after taking my daughter to school, I got home around 0930 and the City Link van was waiting outside.
He said he was early today and guessed I would be coming home from the school run soon, so he waited!
He ( quite rightly) got promoted into the office. Even so, I have always had good service from them since and we seem to have different drivers everytime they call.
I even had an item delivered after 9pm one day, and it was only ordered at 3pm. He had already picked some of his next day deliveries and my house was on his way home!

In the meantime, I'm starting to consider trading down my X100 for an X10. Anybody else done that and have any experiences?
Daydreamer - the detail in the house/cottage shot is really good. I like the shot![]()
I love my X10 complete with sensor change. However, the lack of a viewfinder that shows the iso etc (I wear reading glasses!) led me to purchase a Panasonic G3. The problem is I cannot bring myself to sell the X10. The images are superb as are the ergonomics. Why the hell cant Fuji have given it an electronic viewfinder![]()
