and the important bit considering your subject line.... £? or $?

i still cant get over the fact they package those in that awful gaudy gold, whats wrong with those people at nikon?

congrats though, must be exciting!

Most expensive package I ever opened was 14 boxes with the name of "Caterham" on the side - then it was 15 days of building a car!

Yeah whats this Nikon stuff? :shake: haha

No looks like you have yourself a pretty nice setup, did you win the lottery then? Or is it a whip lash claim? :bonk:

I had to double look to check that I did see 2 D700's! Wow :) hope you enjoy that beautiful kit

Yes, last month you would have got two free SB900s :gag:

You can change your sig now :D

You'll love the D700 + 24-70 it is a classic combination and the 70-200 is top of my wanted list.

Congratulations....

Xmas, three months early, have fun.

Thanks all. I'm now just waiting on the CF cards from Amazon they dispatched today.

Redundancy payment means I can afford it, 9 years in the same job.

I did try the 5d MKII but was not keen on the feel or the wheel selector for menu's.
The Nikon just felt right.

Very nice and very envious!!....must do the lottery tonight
Enjoy your kit the D700 + 24-70 are a partnership made in Heaven.
Are you doing weddings with the gear??
Dave

A cracking purchase you can't get much better.
Dont know what SBs your looking at I have gone back to my SB800/600s
Last two weddings I shot both SB900s shut down on me :(
Have never had the problem with my SB600 SB800 or even that little gem the SB400.

That is some upgrade from a D40!

Hopefully this time next week I'll be in the 2xD700 club, then I'll be getting that 70-200.

Must be a great feeling to get all that in one go!

Its a wonderful feeling and I felt a little guilty at the same time spending so much in one hit.

well you wont go far wrong with another SB600 I have even used the little SB400 at social events.

The beauty is you can use higher ISOs so you don't need the extra power all that often especially with the fast glassware you have :)

I must admit i dont like the gold boxes, however i am sure the contents are going to keep you bust for a while and yes a couple of flashguns open up a lot of creative freedom.

I used to be into motorcycling and I know lots of people who would have a £10K bike just for fun at weekend. This would lose value at about the same rate as a camera body and far faster than camera glass. So spending 2/3rds of that on what is superb kit is reasonable.

The flash offer was a few months ago it was the grip offer last month!

Shame your 35mm will be useless on the D700 but get a 50mm f1.4 they are awesome

One thing I would ABSOLUTELY recommend are a pair of DK-17M magnifying lenses costing about £20 each they replace the view finder and give you a 50% bigger view. Couple this with 2x rubber eye cups from china at £2.50 each and you get a much better view.

What a shame you haven't got your memory cards I am surprised Stuart didn't just match your best price on them.

Just shut down the stat's in the menu, I shoot a lot of weddings and they still keep going with the thermostats turned off, on the web the general feeling is that they are to sensitive.

What a lovely set of kit. I thought I was pleased when my one D700 turned up today, battery grip tomorrow fingers crossed. My 24-70 has been sitting patiently waiting. I know it feels like my Christmas has come early, if only he will bring a VRII early!!!

Enjoy the cracking equipment, I know I will.
