The most expensive package ill probably ever open

I used to be into motorcycling and I know lots of people who would have a £10K bike just for fun at weekend. This would lose value at about the same rate as a camera body and far faster than camera glass. So spending 2/3rds of that on what is superb kit is reasonable.

The flash offer was a few months ago it was the grip offer last month!

Shame your 35mm will be useless on the D700 but get a 50mm f1.4 they are awesome

One thing I would ABSOLUTELY recommend are a pair of DK-17M magnifying lenses costing about £20 each they replace the view finder and give you a 50% bigger view. Couple this with 2x rubber eye cups from china at £2.50 each and you get a much better view.

What a shame you haven't got your memory cards I am surprised Stuart didn't just match your best price on them.

I was thinking ill keep the D40 and 35mm as a take anywhere compact(er) camera. I love that little lens. Plus the wife is starting to ask to use the D40 every so often, which id never though id hear.
Ill try the 35mm on the D700 too just to compare results with the D40 combo at some point.

Ill check out the lenses/eye cups you suggested, cheers.

TBH I did not ask Stuart as I didn't think he would come down that much on the price of the CF's.
Lucky for me I have a mate that is lending me a card a little later so I can test the new kit out :D

What a lovely set of kit. I thought I was pleased when my one D700 turned up today, battery grip tomorrow fingers crossed. My 24-70 has been sitting patiently waiting. I know it feels like my Christmas has come early, if only he will bring a VRII early!!!

Enjoy the cracking equipment, I know I will.

Thanks Adam.
Were both lucky little boys, and must have been very good this year

My 30th is Nov so this year will be the best ever for new toys. I hope to replace my aging AV Receiver and also squeeze in a new Blu Ray player.

LMAO WOAH !! and I am getting comments on a mere D300 ... enjoy the gear what flash set-up do you have?

 Why is everyone getting excited over 2x D700, 24-70 & a 70-200mm VR BOXES!!! :coat: :exit:

Thanks.
I have a SB600 and a Yongnuo 460 and some RF 602's and YN-04-II's for off camera.

Taken the first shots with one of the 700's and the 24-70 and wow, sexy as hell. AF is nice and quick and the results are super sharp. :D

Wow - 1xD40 to 2xD700 and the most desired two lens - if your going to upgrade don't do it by half's

The new SB700 is due soon, might prove to be a comprismise between the SB600 and problematic SB900.

That's not fair :dummy: ;)
Please post a pic of the goodies inside the boxes. Drool

Here you go 2 quick snaps.

Lovely. Yes keeping the D40 and 35mm for your wife is ideal. Its not a bad camera :)

Get those lens hoods on :nono:

Dean: you forgot to order gold box number 5 - the 14-24 f2.8.

The 14-24 is all well and good but on a FF the 24-70 is pretty wide. The other two are always going to be more popular :)

Redundancy payment means I can afford it, 9 years in the same job.

I was gonna ask if I could have a lend of your mask and shotgun now you've finished with it:lol:

Nice parcel...mine only had a Kodak Baby and a dress in it... no the dress wasn't for me

Thanks all. I'm now just waiting on the CF cards from Amazon they dispatched today.

hang on you spend $$$£££££ and no free CF cards:suspect: from DDepot, personally i would send it all back.

Merc the amazed

Don't forget to head over to the D700 owners thread for some setup tips.
CONGRATULATIONS by the way.

Nice gear - but make sure your back is strong enough. I lug the same around at weddings and I'm nearly crawling on the floopr by the end of the day!

You can get some outstanding results with the 70-200 especially in a badly lit church at high ISO, hand held with the VR! I had a customer the other day want an 18x12 enlargement of a church photograph taken at 2000 iso. It came out fabulous! Don't be afraid to use it!

Most expensive package I ever opened was 14 boxes with the name of "Caterham" on the side - then it was 15 days of building a car!

I thought I knew your name from somewhere ! I built a couple of 7s in the 90s did you ever go along to any of the meets ?

Opening the boxes was just the most exciting thing ever, selling my 7 when we had kids was the biggest mistake I ever made :-(

Back on topic - to the OP, enjoy your gold boxes !

 No masks here, nearest I can get is the polythene bag the camera's were in, would that do you? You will have to be in and out sharpish though as breathing could be an issue.:D

I shall certainly be reading through the whole thread at some point.
Cheers.

My wife did say I should get a free gym membership with them as their so heavy.

Can you post that pic up so I can see it?

I'm hoping this is what christmas day will look like for me, slightly better though with it all being Canon.

Bet your one happy bunny none the less?

Im a very happy bunny thanks John.

Good luck for xmas but I think Santa is a Nikon man so you might be gutted but better off ;)

The CF cards have just came in the post :D

SanDisk make the larger cards have a bigger box what a waste of card.

Just don't tell the OH how much you paid for it all. Otherwise, when you die, she'll sell it for what you said you paid for it.

I'm off the the grandparents later, ill take a camera along and take a few shots. Post a few up later.

Wow, very nice.

Hope everything goes well with the wedding photography

Here is a shot I took of my daughter when out in town today, I think she wants to be a public speaker

The Grandparents were out so no shot of them today.

Wow, I'd love to open a package like that! I actually like the gold boxes on Nikon's pro line too. :geek:

Time to start getting fit so you can carry them around without getting home in agony...

Good luck with your venture into wedding photography too.
