The iOS 6 Thread

Also last night when I installed it on my iPad 3 (wifi only) the wireless connection kept dropping randomly for no reason. I would have to manually reconnect to my network. My 4S didn't drop connection at all.
It seems more stable this morning though.

Switched on this am and unable to make calls ... switched off then on again and all ok

Installed last nigh and stuck my phone into the bedside Sony clock radio to charge
Got up this morning and it hasn't charged
Thanks apple

Try charging up something else via the clock - perhaps it's time for a new clock radio?

I have a dock for my phone and if its not sat in just right it won't charge.

Think I'll hang fire before I do my 4s & iPad!! :0/
Wife gets her 5 tomorrow so I'll play with the & decide if I REALLY need the upgrade. Every year they have a few bugs to sort out but it doesn't stop us going through the same old s***!!!!

I think all Apple products have a personality. When I updated my 4s the first time the battery life dropped to half a day. 3 days later it went back to normal.. bizarre!!

normal being.......

Did my ipad3 and 4s last night. Installs were painless over wifi, about 20 mins each.

Wish I hadn't bothered tho. The maps are a shambles. My area is in black and white and the resolution is awful. Turn by turn nav is too slow, thank Christ I knew where I was going, as otherwise I'd have been completely lost.

No YouTube app is crap, as the web interface is poor at best.

On the upside, it does seem a bit snappier, on the iPad anyway.

There is a youtube app for the iphone available. It is better than the old built in one. apparently the ipad one is on its way.

Video quality is actually pretty good when you press the x2 button on the iPad, it will do until a proper iPad app is launched.

It's not like there wasn't a load of free panorama apps already though.

I've found that after typing a sentence and trying to hold to move the cursor back to correct a spelling mistake it sometimes jumps to the start of the line and won't budge for love nor money! On the iPad btw not 4S.

New maps app is hopeless. No form of StreetView. Work around until Google produce an app for IOS6 (which could be some time) is to download a free iPhone app called StreetViewerLite and run it at 2X.

You can also download an iPhone app YouTube to replace the one deleted by the IOS6 update.

Think I'll hold off updating for a while after reading this thread!

Finally installed mine - maps is so crap! The low res screenshot is so rubbish compared to what used to show on google maps!

Maps is a bit pants, but to be fair.....it's not a bad starting point as long as they update. They're a decade behind google and it's going to take a bit to get up and running.

While the sat image clarity and the 3d view is sub par, i tested the turn by turn today with a small journey with a good deal of turns and a couple of 1 way streets.

The voice function worked perfectly with the parrot phone kit in the car and clear and concise directions were given allowing me to not even bother looking at the 2d image on screen. when I did glance down at the screen the image showed exactly where i was and was accurate.

passbook seems to be dead for me....... I want to buy something just so I can test it out :D

YouTube through safari will play back in HD as well, navigate to the page and then save to homepage if you want an icon.

Mine and the wife iPhones done. Thanks to BT fibre they downloaded together in under 10 minutes.

Only slight issue was that all the Apps and folders on my phone disappeared, tried a reset, nothing. Spend an hour looking for a solution online..... tried scrolling to the next page, found them :bonk: Updated added a blank page in

Lol it's always the simple things that cause the biggest problems!

Probably due to YouTube going and Passbook being added, and where it was placed.

Yeah mine added a blank page in too - took me a while to work that one out as well.
Maps in monochrome WTF is that all about then?
Is there a way to revert back to IOS 5?

Normal for mine is at least 2 days between charges!

Updated mine now. All I'm excited about is the panorama thingy for the camera. The rest is just gimmicks

Hmm - no panorama camera on iPhone 4 - just 4S and above:thumbsdown:

Sorry, but the lack of the YouTube app is a huge backwards step - and cannot play YouTube videos via Safari because it is not compatible with Flash.

Nope, don't like it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I just checked to find my iPhone4 is still running ios4!! I realise I'm a bit of a Luddite with my phone and I don't care about apps, maps or the rest of it, but I'd like to upgrade to the pre6 ios if possible. Can anyone tell me how to get it up to ios5 without going straight to the new ios6? iTunes only seems to let me go straight to 6.:shake:

There is a YouTube app. Just download it from the app store.

Just discovered it, but it's more suited for the iPhone (have the iPad but not the iPhone). it works but in a limited way (and all my "favourite" videos has been deleted).
