The iOS 6 Thread

Definitely agree that losing YouTube is a bad thing. I wonder if YouTube & Apple have had a lovers tiff!!
The app is iPhone specific & the iPad ones are pretty poor. Not impressed with that to be honest

down loaded on my ipad last night cant see any diff tbh

then you aren't using the features that were added.

Some differences for you:

Guided access
new maps (which is poo)
facebook integration
icloud tabs
shared photo streams
facetime over cellular
do not disturb settings

if you haven't seen a difference, then you haven't tried using these features

Google and Apple have parted ways. Hence no Google in the Maps app and the removal of the native YouTube App.

And Siri.

have now been able to try out the shared photo stream, it seemed disabled on all the beta versions I have used.

Its nice, but it lacks the ability for other members of the stream to add pics, seems only the owner can add pics to their stream. Commenting and that is cool though

nobody loving guided access then?

I guess you guys don't let your toddlers loose on your ipads then

best feature of ios6 by a mile inmo

I had forgotten about this! Many thanks for reminding me, no more deleted apps thanks to my 2 year old!!!

did my 4S, the wife's 3GS and our iPad 2 last night, both without issue. I did have to clear 2.5GB of memory for the 4S to update though!!

Only thing that annoyed me is that we share an itunes account on the iPhones/iPad and it has copied all of my wife's contacts onto my phone :(

Think it was something to do with the iCloud thing. So I have deleted that account and turned it off.

Now just have to go through my contacts list and manually delete her 300 contacts :( takes ages!!!

There's a lesson to be learnt there I reckon!! ;0)

I've solved the YouTube problem for my iPad. Just go to YouTube via Safari & then select 'add to homescreen' from the Bookmarks menu. Instant home made YouTube app, it's not as good as the old app but it works well enough

That's not a "home made" app. What you've done is added a bookmark to your home screen. You can it with any website.

Can no longer write posts on the iPad app. The send button is greyed out. I've seen somebody else mention the same thing somewhere.

Anybody have a solution???

I have the same problem, just make sure you press return at the end of a sentence and it works.

Same problem here with the send button not working. However as suggested hit return at end of line and it then works.

I've got it running, its great, but it just eats battery now. Seriously, used like half the battery in like 2 hours.. just using Facebook and iMessage

I'd noticed that as well but the battery has always been poor on my 4S, I've even had it swapped by Apple and the new one was only marginally better.

Yeah I know.. but thanks for pointing it out :0/

My wife is on a 4s. She wants new to update it but with all the bugs people are reporting I don't know if it is worth the hassle. I don't want to be finding work around for her all the time. She seems happy enough as it is so maybe we should just leave it?

I don't know what half of those are, so no update for me, :) and I don't need Siri (can't really see the point on an iPad)

A question regarding facecack native integration

can you delete the previous facebook app completely that was pre iOS6 and still use facebook?

A good question, I'm interested in the answer if anyone has tried it.
In theory yes and still post photo's etc but I don't know how you would browse Facebook.

Has guided access crashed for anyone yet? It did for me this morning and so my 4S was stuck in Dora the Explorer app! A quick google revealed that you have to reboot the device via the home and power button for 10 seconds combo.

The only thing I can't get to work on my idevices is passbook, i keep getting a "can't connect to iTunes store" message.

I've not found any bugs at all. The only downside for me is the loss of Google maps, and streetview.

Passbook is the same on mine but I'll never use it so I'm not to worried.
My battery isn't too bad either, it's down to 38% after 39hrs with location services still turned on.
Facebook doesn't seem to have changed for my, I had the Facebook app & nothing's really different

Same here. I assumed it was because it hasn't been launched in Spain.

Nah, macrumours reported the passbook issue, some people had success if they set the clock on the phone forward a year, others didn't

It doesn't appear to be widely used yet, so maybe a 6.0.1 update will follow soon to improve it.

You can now update your FB status from the notification bar. Facebook per se has hardly changed at all. What has changed is that it's been integrated in the operating system, eg if you look at one of your photos, you now have the option to upload it directly to facebook. Before you didn't. You'd have had to open Facebook, then choose to upload a photo.

Whenever I try to use Facebook on my iPad it asks me to sync my account to my iPad. When I tap 'continue' the screen turns to the side and the keyboard blocks where I should be typing. Then when I put in my password nothing happens.

Anyone else get that??
