Seen 'em! Only really had one poor landing - the chief steward commented on that one and thanked the pilot for all the landings, especially the final one! It's a bit unnerving if it's your first time landing there and you're sat on the starboard side for a runway 27 landing - all you see out of your window is sea until about 2 seconds before the wheels hit the ground! After the year we had in 2012, we're really looking forward to this holiday especially showing all our Cretan (and tourist) friends how well I am now (I was really quite ill last year and was probably the only person not to realise that!)

Just setting up an automatic watering system for all the gro-bags we've got planted along with a couple of troughs of beetroot. Nod's law says that if I go to the trouble, it'll rain solid for a fortnight! We'll get a neighbour to deal with the front lawn and there's not a lot of back left after the conservatory went up!

After the kind of year you have had, if anyone deserves a break, it has to be you. I suspect your camera will be tagging along with you. :)
 
I actually went out in short sleeves without a coat today :eek: The kids have had a water fight, and i now have a headache coming. Yep, summer is finally here ;)
 
I had a break! 2 weeks in hospital, being waited on hand and foot!!! It's my wife that needs the holiday as much as me since last year's was a bit of a trial for her. She managed a bit of R&R by leaving me asleep in the room but I was a bit of a worry to her.

This year, she's going to do all the driving so I'm navigator... Luckily, I read Greek a bit better (faster) than her so can read the Greek signposts which appear about 400m before the English translations :) . Since we're revisiting places we've been to several times in the past, I think I can do most of the navigation from memory (which is handy since the maps available aren't brilliant [but we're totally spoiled over here by the excellence of OS mapping]). We plan on a fairly lazy one visiting friends as well as eating and drinking to mild excess. Been practising on Ouzo.

Funnily enough, I've got this achey type head coming on, so indeed it must be the shock of doing the garden in my T-shirt (and jogging bottoms, of course) and worked up a real sweat instead of breaking out with goosepimples. I've even caught a bit of the sun on my face and arms.

Indeed, I can only imagine how much it has been of a worry for the other half when it comes down to that kind of thing but at least you both are coming out of the other end.
I've never ever been on a foreign holiday in all my life (I'm 45), so perhaps at some point I ought to address that by breaking into my life savings. Trouble is, I'm not a heat lover (the result of 20 years working in a greenhouse) and nor am I a food lover, so I have no idea on where I want to go or what do do.
 
Well, for the first time this year I have been able to sit out in the garden as well as pottering about in it and did it all without feeling cold as we had unbroken sunshine the whole day. Now I've caught the sun properly, that's going to sting some tonight.
I could have sat out in the sun for a little bit longer but next door decided to fire up one of those stinky cheap disposable BBQs (my pet summer hate) literally right under my nose.

I've been dosing myself up with P20 whenever the Sun's been out in the hope that I'll get a hint of colour before Thursday. You can tell I've been wearing a watch but only just! (Actually, that's probably down to last Thursday when I didn't slop it on before a golf lesson but I was only out in it for 1/2 an hour or so.)

Must remember the Bio Oil as an after sun lotion - reduces the sting and stops me peeling! That and liberal internal application of Ouzo, tsikoudia etc should keep any pain at bay.
 
Spent the day strolling along Hastings seafront with the Husband's family. The children kept moaning that they were too hot. I had to shush them quick, incase the sun heard them and decided to go back in :lol:. Loving it, evening if my arms are looking distinctly pink ;)

Hi Neil, if it is of any consolation, it's turned much the same here at this corner of Kent. This morning started off as being bright and even felt warm in the sunshine but then it all went downhill with gloomy overcast skies as well as it feeling colder as we went into the afternoon. Even now it is still cloudy and dull.
 
Quite windy - had to put on a long sleeved shirt yesterday night (at about midnight) when the temperature dropped to about 25!!! Playing spot the cloud and trying to decide what they look like before they dissipate in the heat. Luckily, the breeze is keeping the apparent temperature down to comfortable levels, although we still try to do any walking early. So nice to be able to do the walking after last year.
 
Another gorgeous day down here on the Sussex coast, and it's set to be fine all week.

Beer garden weather. Again. :cool:
 
And actually its not a bad day here either, high teens, virtually a clear sky and a gentle breeze,
'Tis a good "drying day" :)
 
Unfortunately, the Newfoundland style climate continues here at Kent as the sun turned more milky and hazy in appearance this afternoon due to high cloud creeping in from the near Continent and a keen north-east breeze is keeping temperatures pegged at 13.4 C. It is generally dry and bright but looks and feels more like April rather than June.
There are signs of a proper warm-up over the bulk of the UK as we go into the weekend but the East Coast and parts of the South East may still be under the mercy of cooling sea breezes in from the North Sea as winds come in from the NE or E.
 
Wow that was quick, we have just gone to Autumn, 11c wind and rain, the advert on TV for sun cream did make me smile :lol:
 
Why did we come home?! 14°C here at the moment but 28 or so over there. (Actually, the main reason we came back is sitting nearby purring loudly - she's happy we're home and we're so pleased to see her!) Just under 10 weeks until we're back there though.

Some of the poor weather here while we were away could be down to me setting up an automatic watering system - 1/2 tempted to set up a higher water butt and plumbing the waterers into that rather than the mains!

Hi Nod and welcome back! Hope you had a fab break and have taken lots of photos.

Indeed, either winter is hanging on longer than usual, or we have skipped summer and going straight onto Autumn. Actually, when viewed from the comfort of my hobby room here at East Kent, it does look bright and sunny out there and is staying bone dry, but the strong south west wind is certainly keeping it cool and fresh.
 
Absolutely fantastic time thanks! Took about 700 photos (which is about 699 more than last year) on the little cameras having (deliberately) left the DSLRs at home. Might take the old D70 with an 18-270 in August/September but probably not - the smaller cameras allowed so much more freedom especially from the weight the DSLR kit puts on my back (I turn 50 in 3 weeks...)!

Clear blue sky first thing (well, 06:30) which turned to cloudy by 08:30 and a few drops of rain at 09:00. Cleared up a bit at lunchtime (after a heavy shower) but now overcast again.

Hi Chris! Even though it is being quite sunny here, I cannot get over on how cold it still is feeling and yet we're only a week away from the summer solstice. From there on, the nights start to draw in . . . I'm not helping matter much, ain't I?

Well your not doing any worse than our local "Paul the weatherman", he couldn't tell you the time :D
Yesterdays forecast by "Paul the weatherman" , wind/rain & don't leave the house.
Actual weather, light breeze with some nice sunny spells and a very light shower at 7pm :cuckoo:
 
:-D Mind you, some places are experiencing thunder and lightning at the moment (Essex in particular, so it seems) but that thundery activity should all fade away in the next hour or so.
Indeed, the sun is at it's highest so naturally it is packing a punch, enough to get sunburn easily but, as you know, that fresh wind coming in from the Atlantic is just simply taking away the heat.
 
Rather breezy and a bit of a nip in the wind but otherwise warm when sheltered (almost hot, tbh) and gloriously sunny :) Walking into the wind with the sun behind, your face is cold and your back is sweating :D
 
Well, we've finally gone all Scorchio :D

Pool is still damn cold though :(
 
Apparently the Met Office are suggesting that due to a warming up of the Atlantic Ocean thus forcing the jet stream to stay further south than usual, our weather could be "cloudy with showers" for the next ten years.

Mind you, it's already turning out wrong as it is becoming quite warm and steamy here at Folkestone now that the sun has come out (it was very dull and damp this morning after a burst of heavy rain occurred at 6 am).
There is a risk of thunderstorms breaking out over Southern England tonight, though, so we're not out of the woods just yet.
 
Its mid 20's here at the moment, but bloody sticky!
We can't win can we :shrug:
 
Indeed, it was only this time last week when we were complaining about how cold it was. :D
 
I'm not going to complain about the heat or the mugginess. I just wish it would decide what its going to do first thing, rather than changing halfway through the day! I never know what to wear, and my washing bins are full from the whole family changing clothes halfway through the day :lol:.
 
Well I really enjoyed the summer while it lasted :thumbs:

Its now very overcast, flat grey sky, and drizzling.

Is anyone else concerned that this is actually the longest day? :(
