Well its definitely summer now... exams done! And the sun is out! and its lovely and hot! :thumbs::thumbs:

Hope everyone is comfortable in the heat :)
 
Its gotta be up near 30 today, with a very featureless cloud cover.
Humid? just a tad :(

Unfortunately, I don't have a thermometer... however...reading thirty two at my local online weather station. alysham - which I'm just 2 miles away from. http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/03492.html Humidity is only 47% To be fair I've been cutting the grass, and thats quite hard work as its quite high!

That website is also very good. As it uses lots and ltos of local weather stations, which are normally relatively accurate :)
 
Here is one of the photos I took of that cloud/fog as it moved past the tree. Where I was standing there was no fog at all but there was fog on the river estuary and it seemed to be moving in from there. The photo doesnt really show what it looked like.

Well, that was a bit of a let down storm-wise! :D :D :D :D

Still, it's bright and sunny right now here at Folkestone as high cloud from an old french storm system moves on. And still feeling muggy too, so I may still get to have a second bite of the cherry for storms today, at least before the cold front (already over the middle part of the UK) does eventually move in to kill off the storm risk outright tonight (or even trigger them off!).

However, I did get this lovely sunset last night. Walked down to the Harbour pier especially for this shot as I saw the colours slowly form . . .

Lovely shot. Real lovely colours and nice composition :)

Sorry to rub it in but we had a few rumbles of thunder last night. No flashes of lightening. Lots of rain though :thumbs:
 
Hi all :wave:

For once, the first time EVER, I'm actually glad that there were no storms last night!
Usually I LOOOOVE a good thunderstorm, but we are in the process of converting our loft into a room, and there's a gaping great big hole in the roof where we've taken the chimney down!!!
Although it was covered, I was still a bit concerned........

Just a few minutes ago, there were a few distant rumbles at the airport. Sounded as though it was coming from the East, so Fareham, Portsdown Hill area.
Bring it on :woot:

Bit of a let down, here storm wise too,
some early morning rumbles and a drop of rain,
then a few more rumbles and more of the wet stuff this afternoon.
Nothing to write home about, as the saying goes ;)
 
You're the lucky one. it started to rumble in the distance late morning here, passed close and then went off the distance, came back a short while ago right overhead with torrential rain, gone off into the distance again at the mo, but bet it will be back :(
 
It has just finished with the thunder and lightning here, heard distant rumbles of thunder around 2PM.

What a fantastic shot, Ian - fabulous colour and light. :clap::clap::clap:

I was in Berkshire on Sunday for a family bbq - and it was sweltering. Love it!

Today didn't disappoint - sun/shade/sun/shade etc all morning. Kept me changing camera settings constantly at my nursery shoot. No chance of getting bored there! :D

I'm still pp-ing the wedding shots, but I'll post a few when the b&g have seen 'em.

In North Essex we had quite a lot of thunder and a couple of loud claps of it but no lightning- quite a bit of rain too. There are still a few rumbles around. Its nice that the heat and humidity have dropped.

It was really weird leaving... as the sixth form was held at my high school.

Well, things got lively over the South East as thunderstorms broke out widely. Houses being set alight by lightning bolts, etc, etc. :eek:

And yet here at Folkestone, all I got to see at 2 pm was two claps of thunder, five minutes of heavy spitty rain and that's my lot! :razz:

But that finally signalled the end of this mini-heatwave. All back to normal as from tomorrow and the rest of the weekend.:)

Until perhaps the next hot spell? I'm sure they'll be another of those later on down the line. :D

We didn't get any of that - just mixed sun and cloud all day and one very light shower for about 5 minutes about 6.30 pm. No drama, no lighting bolts (not that I'd want one! :eek:) no thunder, no baking heat, no nothing!

Chillin', photography, roadtrips, camping, biking and trekking :D Then in september -grade dependant- I shall be off to Aberyswyth in West Wales to study Physical Geography :D

Here's hoping we go onto having a decent summer to enjoy those things.

Actually, I, too, am taking an extended break from full time work. Not because of lack of trying and can't find a job, etc, etc, but I'm in an ideal finanical position to take things easy for a while anyway, so I might as well make use of it while I can.

After all, 20 years of being a tomato picker is enough to drive anyone to distraction! It's only now that I'm starting to stand upright and not having terror dreams about tomatoes!

I have a few plants that I am nurturing- they have lots of green tomatoes on but dont show any sign of wanting to turn red.

Enjoy your break Ian. I have got quite used to being a lady of leisure.

That looks like lots of opportunities for some fantastic photography. I hope you get the weather as well. :) Good luck with the grades (results about the 18 August?) Let us all know how you get on. ;) Wow - travelling from one side of the country to the other for uni - that'll be an interesting journey! :eek:

Sue - my tomatoes are just starting to ripen - the cherry ones (Sweet Million) and Sungold. Not much sign of the larger varieties turning red yet, but there's plenty of time. Do you want recipes for green tomato chutney? :D

Ian - that looks like a fine, bright day again. btw - I love your 'Comfort Factor' in your daily forecast - it's a great way of interpreting all that data you deal with. So far today - you're spot on (as always!) - we've had a few heavy clouds but they've passed over without soaking the washing out on the line. :lol:

Sue and Ian: I'm glad you're both enjoying some leisure time. I'm sort-of retired but work when needed, and it's a good compromise. I enjoy the work, but also value the extra leisure time when I'm not working. I'm also looking after my baby grand-daughter 2 days a week, which I really enjoy. :)

My tomatoes are outdoors too, but in a fairly sunny and sheltered spot.

Yes, our little granddaughter's great - and so are our two bigger grandsons! I hope you're having a lovely evening with yours. How old are they? :)

Been pretty boring here weather wise the last couple of days
a few heavy showers developed in the past afternoon but nothing to
write home about.
it threatened a few times today, with darkening clouds,
but amounted to nothing.

Hi guys :)

Away at the moment in surrey... :) Naff weather today as it started up nice, with warm weather, nice bit of sunny with little cloud. Then by mid afternoon it absolutely chucked it down... and I jsut happened to be on the 13th hole on a golf course :( But it was great to be out in it!

Hope alls well :)
 
I haven't even noticed the weather today - I've spent the day wandering round the house fretting while both our dogs were at the vets having dental treatment and one was having a throat problem investigated as well. It turns out he's got an enlarged heart, and it's pressing on his airways. :(

The other one had to have 9 teeth taken out! :eek:

Aww, sorry to hear that you are having a hard time of it on the pet front, but we end up loving them that much we'd do anything to make their lifes as comfortable as possible.

Yesterday, I took this photo while on a long bike ride.

As I type this at 8.15 am, it's cold, blustery and overcast. Suddenly that summer-like spell of weather I had in the past couple of days has very quickly become a distant memory!

Patchy cloud here this morning (here being just off the M3 for me today :) ) I believe we're gonna be getting patchy rain a little later on ... no golf today, so thats not so bad :D
 
Ian and Toby - thanks for the sympathy. Both dogs are feeling a bit sorry for themselves today, so lots of TLC and a good excuse to have lots of cuddles! :)

I love that picture, Ian. My immediate thought was it looks like an Impressionist painting by Monet. Have you done any pp on it?

Today it's raining, blustery, sunny, dull - and all within a couple of minutes :D
