Yep, it's been fun. Looking forward to our first season in the top flight for 15 years.

Thread's not quite done yet though Phil, still got the Champions League Final and the Play-Offs to finish. Then I think it will be a new thread for the new season.

Champions league final :help:

Not holding out much hope for that but who knows.

Can't remember the last time (well I can but it was a while back) that United were going into a game with such little in the way of expectation. Perhaps that will be a good a thing - who knows.

The worst United side in recent years V the greatest club side ever - not my words but certainly the opinions of many.

I'm keen to see how Fergie plays this one as Barca's midfield terrifies me. We'll have little of the ball so Park would be my first pick for this particular game and I know Fletcher (semi fit) has been a firm choice when we've had to think more about the opposition than our own game.

Being a 'home' game I can also see a lot of ref baiting and diving tactics from Barca (like at Real) but I guess that's to be expected.

I'd be dead chuffed if we win it but European Cup / Champions league has always been a bit 'add on' cherry on the cake for me as (over the years) it has so much to do with variables / eras / rules / etc.

Unfortunately this year I'll not be at the final - the village I live in are doing a 'big screen' at the bowling green with a bar etc. I guess it will either be Messi or Messy ?

My early prediction  - United a goal down - press and get caught on the break to loose by two :'(

No doubt it's gonna be tough Phil but Fergie's one of the most experienced managers at this level so that's got to count for something. I'm certainly not sure about "worst United side in recent years" and I think they've got more to offer than some are giving them credit for.

I'll certainly be cheering them on come Saturday.

I see Rooney and Giggs are both playing tonight. It would just be typical of Rooney to pick up a knock.

Great to see the midfield of Giggs, Butt, Scholes, Beckham together again.

Have United 'signed' David De Gea ?

Don't think so, source?

Guillem Balague on the radio said it was all wrapped up.

I guess it's a case of waiting to hear more.

Think it was confirmed tonight.

A keeper is obviously on the cards but I'm a bit concerned by the amount of transfer activity being talked about.

The trend at United over the last few years has been to be win a few titles then make a few changes - miss out for a year or so then then return with a few more titles and so on - evolution rather than revolution if you like.

Swiped...

De Gea is unlikely to be the only new face at United this summer with the likely arrival of Wesley Sneijder, while Tottenham duo Luka Modric and Gareth Bale have been linked. Aston Villa's Ashley Young is also set to make the switch to Manchester after United beat Liverpool to his deal.

Club chief executive David Gill gave his first suggestion of a clutch of new faces when he told MUTV that fans should prepare for a 'busier than normal' summer in the transfer market.

Hmm - time will tell I guess as to what transfers actually happen.

A gem from the Wales v Scotland text commentary tonight:

1959: A quick stat to make your jaw drop... Robert Earnshaw is the only player to have scored a hat-trick in the English Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two (or their equivalent), as well as the League Cup, the FA Cup and at international level.

blackpool didn't get the europa spot. Even though fulham had a red card - they didn't deduct any points from them. Screams of a farce to me, they clearly didn't want the seasiders in the competition

less points around the top - more around the bottom.

I think that shows that the EPL is a very competitive league. On any day, any team can beat another. It's just not like other leagues in Europe where you have 2-5 strongish sides and all the others are poor. To stay in the EPL you have to be pretty good, and to win it isn't plain sailing any more; a few years ago the side that one it would lose 2 maybe 3 games all season, now that number has easily been doubled, and I can't imagine another side going a whole season without defeat for some years to come.

That's why some of the Worlds greatest players SHOULD be playing here, but many of them like an environment when they know from day 1 of the season it's them or 1 other side that will win it before a ball is even kicked...

On a side note, it seems that Arsenal have signed a couple of youngsters from Barcelona :shake: When will Wenger start getting his priorities right

Steve

So Sepp Blatter is being investigated by FIFA. Why do I suspect that this is just an attempt to ease the pressure on them and FIFA will find nothing? Me, sceptical of FIFA's integrity? Never!

If they really wanted an investigation it should be carried out by a 3rd party.

I really hope you don't get sneijder he's one of my favourite players and if he plays in manure red I'll have to start hating him

I like him too - not conviced about the transfer though.

We've also got Ashley Young now according to the news today.

Come on Barcelona.

the majority hate united of the Manchester kind so hope barca smash them. Looking forward to a good final tho.

I hope we stuff Barca

Can't see it though but yep - the two best teams so lets's hope it's a good game.

The whole thing is becoming a bit of a joke :cuckoo:

Its a bit like asking Ian Brady & Myra Hindley to judge the case of Ian Huntley!!

Can't see Wenger signing anyone worth getting excited about. The last time I had that feeling was when we signed Dennis Bergkamp.

And that was pre-Wenger.....

I hope united get annihilated, really embarrassed, like a 3-4 goal difference, sorry phil, i just want an end to the season that i can remind my wife's family about that is less miserable than what this season has actually brought.

Barca win will please billions. It's got to be done n messi will do the deed.

3-1 for united to win, i'm gonna put a fiver on it, that way I feel a win win coming on and if united do win then at least i'll have some money in my pocket

Not a fan of United but would much prefer them to win than Barcelona. Watched Barca's recent few matches and I didn't think much to be honest! Also prefer an english club to be best in Europe, ha :-P

That's you covering your bases again Joe

Put your bet on with Paddypower - they pay back all loosing bets if Barca win in 90 mins.

If Barca score first it's game over I think. We'll end up chasing the game and get killed on the break.

I'll go 2:0 Barca or 3:1 Barca.

It's possible but I just hope we don't get gubbed by 4 or 5

its all about damage reduction.

i put £3 on united to win and £2 on hernandez to score, which i think is inevitable.

Not a fan of United either but I would much prefer a Barca win, Bigger the better.:1st:

Sorry Phil, just being honest.

2nd mortgage on barca to win. Start the presentation ceremony now.

Game over me thinks.

60 mins of keepy ball and rolling around to follow.

Oo - hang on...

1-1. Against the run of play. Giggs offside missed due to a super-injunction.
