Come on Blackburn there's hope yet! 1-0
Just had a drink and a bite to eat with a family of Stoke fans who insisted that I share their picnic with them. Setting was a bit strange as it was the car park at Wembley. We all agreed it was a bit surreal being there. What was really nice was they were real football fans who had been going for years to see Stoke City. As someone who has been watching Manchester City for 42 of my 45 years it was a meeting of like minds.
The fella said to me it must be difficult with your team getting all the stick for having had so much cash recently, but people forget that you had 30,000 people still turning up when you were relegated into the 2nd division (old 3rd) a few years ago. He is right. I was at Wembley in 1999 when Mark Halsey found those 5 minutes from somewhere when we were 2-0 down and we went on to beat Gillingham on penalties. The Gillingham Manager was one Mr Tony Pulis!
Whatever happens today its for the fans (City & Stoke)that have been there through thick and thin, and there have been many thin times! My dad would have loved to have been here for this after 50 odd years of watching the blues.
As an aside, apparently Blue Moon was number 1 in the charts 50 years ago today. It wont ever have been sung with the passion that it will be sung today. Blue moon.........you saw me standing alone..........without a dream in my heart.........without a love of my own
Signing off with hope in my heart for today.

Looks like a cracking game at Blackpool, 3-2 at half time!
Never do things the easy way :bang:
Certainly does - hope Blackpool can come out on top.

hernandez saves the day once more with a pen that shouldnt have been giving, ah well sums up the season pretty much
I have to congratulate United for winning their 19th league title and finally surpassing Liverpool, my congrats goes mostly to hernandez and berbatov who have been probably the two players of the season in a season where the teams from 1 to 6th have all been a shadow of themselves quite frankly!
Penalty all day long Joe.

not from where myself and the commentators were watching it wasn't.
No surprise there![]()
Just saw the replay, was a little more convincing than when I first saw it, but slow motion always does that. I think Hernandez exaggerated it and was going down anyway but robinson did connect with him.
Was delighted to see City win today. That Huth elbow was pretty unpleasant and perfectly sums up what it is about Stoke I hate so much. I hope because the ref didn't see or penalise it in play there can be some post-match repercussions. He certainly deserves a few games off and a nice fat fine for deliberate violent conduct!
you're overexagerating that, it wasnt't quite as bad as you are describing it, it was nothing compRed to rooney's earlier in the season

He deliberately elbowed Balotelli in the jaw whilst the play was miles away. Not sure what exaggeration that is![]()
Well there wasn't the malice you were indicating in my opinion. It was more a "bit of a shove". I agree it was obviously intentional but it wasn't more than what you see week in week out in the penalty box. It wasn't like he was out to break his jaw.
If it was a shove it would have been a shoulder or a palm making contact, not an elbow! If you're putting an elbow into someone's face deliberately then it can't be anything other than malicious!
disagree, it was more a block than a deliberate elbow to the throat, check out rooney earlier in the season as a comparison. this was more that the elbow happened to hit the throat because it was a bit high rather than it be just a shove with the arm which it could have been if it with a few inches lower.
i do think it was wrong, and worthy of a card and free kick but it wasnt a deliberate jaw breaker in my opinion
We're not going to agree then. I see it as completely on par with the Rooney elbow that got so many people outraged earlier in the season.

Well that was Rooney wasn't it. :rules:
You can't use that chestnut this time phil. Rooneys elbow was a different kettle of fish altogether.
Kilmarnock 0 Rangers 3 after 7 minutes. So much for the nailbiting end to the season! Still time for a fightback, mind.

I've still not seen the Huth elbow so can't comment. I was just stating that much of the 'outrage' to the Rooney elbow was because it was Rooney.
disgagree, the outrage was because people rarely see the kind of elbow that rooney threw. You have to admit it was pretty nasty, if gerrard had threw that elbow he's have had the same press
