the claims are that there was no transfer request at all, they just said there was.

From This Article:

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/01022011/58/premier-league-paper-round-carroll-forced.html

The paper claims that Carroll emailed a friend, Magpies fanzine editor Steve Wraith, saying, "They have kind of said we don't want u to go but want me to say I wanna go. And I said I wanna go."

If he didn't mean it, then why say it, what was the worst the club could do, Sack him? either way he would be out the door.

Funnily enough, our local radio station up here had an interview with Steve Wraith, this morning, who said Carroll has explicitly told him that he hadn't handed in any transfer request.

So it's printed quotes vs verbal records, but I still dunno which is will turn out to be the actual truth

Don't think we'll ever know if he handed one in or not, but if that £35m isn't reinvested into the playing squad I can see a fresh bout of Geordie protests.

Hoping and praying he doesn't spend a penny. Love it when they gather outside the ground en masse.

Now I know If I ever have a baby boy i will do anything so he could play football.
50m for Torres:gag::cuckoo:

£35m for Carroll was a joke. David Villa went for much the same, and if Carroll is worth £35m then how much is a world class player like Fabregas worth - much more than the £35m Barca were offering!

Cheesed of Wenger did not get his wallet out. Hard to knock him, but even my 3yo could probably work out we need 2 quality defenders.

dont forget, the price doubled due to the circumstances, end of window, torres going at last minute. the price thats paid takes into account when they are signed.

Andy Carroll walks into a bar, orders a pint and the barman says,

"That'll be £36 million pounds please"

Andy laughs, "You've got to be joking mate."

"**** me", says the barman, "That's exactly what I thought last night."

2 Goals for Rooney so far tonight - wonders will never cease !

I can hardly justify £35million for him but Villa and Carroll are at completely different ends of their careers. Carroll could potentially be at Liverpool for many, many years so it could be a good investment in that sense, if he does the business that is.

Fact is though, the price tag is going to follow him everywhere, no matter how good he does.

Arshavin scores as well, maybe he's got his **** together at last.

And just when you think your week cannot get any better.....

The Sun said:
Liverpool fans gutted at his transfer included Shaun McCormack, 36, who changed his name to Fernando Torres a month ago. He said: "I cried when I heard."

:D:D:D:D:D:D

He's no Liverpool fan speaking to that twunt of a paper. :nono:

Anyway, you can have the lazy spaniard and I'm happy with the Geordie & Uruguaryan Loons :D

Well that's Luis Suárez off the mark for Liverpool.

not sure now, ive seen the bbc site change 3times, now they have it down as suarez

I see Gary Neville has announced his 'immediate retirement' from football.

85 Eng Caps - 3 Euro & 2 World Cup campaigns

602 Man Utd Apps - 8 Premier Leagues - 3 FA Cups - 2 Champions Leagues - 2 League Cups - 1 Intercontinental Cup - 1 Fifa World Club Cup

Not forgetting - 7 Goals !!

Not quite the haul of Giggs but not bad for a footballer of 'questionable' ability. Can be a bit of an arse at times but certainly not lacking in commitment and club loyalty.

I seriously hate Neville but I can't knock him for his actions of the field, a real class act.

We should have got a point atleast tonight, so so infuriating. Samba for Crouch's goal is disgraceful, guys as tall as he is yet gets outjumped easily. We had 5/6 solid chances to score from. Wigan on saturday, confident we can get 3 points there. Sold 4000 tickets, a full stand, so theres no excuses. COYB

Sounded like Spurs were fortunate to take the points from what I heard on the radio. Gomes was busy by all accounts.

Well that worked!

:coat:

West Midland League premier division where I spend my Saturday afternoons much more fun than the EPL
no diving
no cheating
no waving of imaginary cards
Female officials treated with respect
Male officials mostly treated with respect

Immensely talented club photographers

Yeah, they were very fortunate. But as they say, those are the games that big teams have to come away with 3 points from. I know they aren't challenging, but it's a sign of a good side.

But it was bloody infuriating! I'm feeling quite optimistic under Keane now, it was a wobbly start but compared to Fat Sam's tenure, we're playing like Barca week in week out!

 Just as I post how I am optimistic, the owners go and sack our chairman.

Nice one. Panic resumes.

Some amazing scorelines in the premier league today - goals galore

Couldn't believe the Newcastle Arsenal score when I heard it.

Looks like Man Utd might be about to suffer their first defeat.......

I seriously hate football right now.

We were so naive today it was untrue. MOTD should be good mind, I laughed so hard when I heard Arsenal were 4 up, then even harder when I heard it 4 all!

I had a quiet chuckle myself.

Gutted we lost to Wolves though. I'm not fussed about the unbeaten run but getting this 19th title to finally get ahead of Liverpool means everything.

Can anyone explain what newcastles 2nd pen was for? Not often I agree with lawrenson but that was never a pen. And why was Nolan not sent off for doing same as diaby?

Most annoying is wenger keep saying he doesnt need to sign anyone. Any arsenal fan knows we need at least 1 if not 2 decent defs.

Only saw the games on MOTD but the Everton Blackpool game looked to be a cracker. So pleased to see Louis Saha doing well.

...pleased to see Louis Saha doing well.

Aye, he is class isn't he? So very underrated imo. Watched him against us last season and he was so impressive playing as lone striker in a 4-5-1 for them

I think they summed him up when they said 'on his day' he's as good as anybody.

The guy just seems to suffer from too many niggles and then takes a while to get going again.

I bet he'll knock a few more in over the coming weeks and then be out for a spell :bonk:

yesterday was a good day, utd losing to the bottom team and the magpies coming back from 4-0 down Both results gave me a good hard laugh.

but seeing a front three of drogba, torres and anelka makes me think today will not b quite so funny.

Much as it pains me - I'm hoping Liverpool win today !
