Re Adrian being off his line, I doubt very much he would have had time to if Lukaku had just kicked the pen rather than stall taking it just beforehand. I do think the main reason for WH's comeback, though, were the subs

I don't think Adrian would have had a chance to encroach if Lukaku had just kicked the ball rather than stall his run-up. I still think the ref had a shocker, though, but I'm sure we've all gotten used to that with Taylor in charge.

Does not matter what Lukaku did. The keeper is not supposed to move forwards until the ball is kicked. As long as the player does not stop his run, it is another technique to take a penalty. Now I know that keepers do move forward a bit, but Adrian was just extracting the urine imho. All the linesman has to do is look where the keeper is when the ball is kicked, and obviously missed that one.

But Lukaku did stop his run, albeit momentarily. Adrian had initially made a small hop forward, then Lukaku stops which is when Adrian moves again. And talking about officials missing it, don't forget, as was mentioned by all the pundits at the time, this should never have been a penalty in the first place - the infringement took place outside the area.

I know it should not have been a penalty, and in my mind I thought 'justice was done', but Lukaku slowed down, he didn't stop. I don't think the kicker is not allowed to stop. There has to be continuous forward motion. And in the video linked you can see Adrian does a little jump off his line when Lukakau is about 2 yards from the ball, before Lukaku slows down, and then jumps even further forward when Lukaku slows down. 'Justice' was done, but it should have been taken again imho. And this is from a Liverpool fan. ;)

Basking in the glory of a complete dismantling of the Mancs last night. Just a little annoyed that the tie isn't over.

We should have had the tie wrapped up. It could easily have been 4-0 and tie over except for DeGea. He's worth every penny they paid for him.

Just a pity, such a wonderful european night, was tarnished by some eejits chanting

Well done to Liverpool on winning the Europa League and this qualifying for CL next season... I am guessing thats what happened judging by all the Facebook posts by liverpool fans!!!

Hey, we destroyed MU, in the first ever European match :D Allow us our moment of glory

And you never crow when you stuff Spurs? Well, the LFC-UTD game is bigger than the North London derby will ever be. ;)

Are you sure about that. So little passion shown by Utd, at least with a North London Derby it rarely ends with 22 men on the pitch

After the Merseyside derby it's the game with the most reds.

That red card for Costa was a long time coming, didn't realise that it was his first, he's deserved quite a few before this one !

Great goal from Lukaku apparently.

Unbeliveable that he hasn't been sent off before in the Premier League. If he is judged to have bitten Barry, which it certainly looked like, then he could be out for awhile.

Good goals by Lukaku. The first one looked very good, but when you see it, the Chel$ki defenders just run along beside him without going to try close him down and make a tackle.

Good to score against the club who said you weren't good enough. ;) From his pov I think he would have preferred Moaninho to still have been there. ;)

Looking back at a video of the incident, it looks like he went to bite Barry but stopped himself from actually doing it. Barry certainly didn't react as though he had been bitten either. That said, it would still be poetic justice if he was banned for a while considering his previous.

Cracking goal from Lukaku but I agree about the defenders, it looked like they were too scared to tackle. I do think Everton would be in big trouble without him this season and wonder if he will stay if one of the CL clubs make a bid for him in the summer.

Blimey - that was some strike for Watford's second goal.

So, anyone still think wenger should not be sacked??

I think Giroud should be dumped that's for sure.

Anyway, I've got bored of going to Wembley... And this may be the last year I keep my season tickets.

Not sure I like the grey on the home shirt, but the red one looks OK...

Didn't look very blue to me, looked very grey ! Maybe I Macbook needs calibrating ! :)

Great win by England, and brilliant goals by Kane and Vardy.

Been a very long time since I've enjoyed an England game as much as that. Even when we were losing the performance was good. No fear, pressing all over the place, some real quality on the ball but a great team performance. You've got to hope most of that team starts the Euros.

That feels really good and really encouraging.

Fingers crossed. They do this every so often, put in a great display, but no doubt Hodgson will mess it up by putting his favourites in when they are just about fit, and mess up the team by playing people out of position to fit them in.

Well the depressing thing is you know Rooney will be back in if fit, or even half fit. I don't mind Rooney as it goes, but he can't constantly be guaranteed a place, not good for him or the team.

A genuine team performance today full of players who never gave up, wanted to win. I know it's only a friendly and I should not get my hopes up but....I'll just enjoy it for now. That team felt like it had something about it though that I've not felt we've had for a very long time.

Long time no see folks - hope you're all well.

So refreshing to see England tonight - even if i hated the kit.

Let's just hope Woy takes note.

Hi Phil, good to have you back :)

It's only one game of course but there was something about that team that felt very different - and I liked it a lot.

I'm sure Roy noticed - and to give him credit he picked the team tonight an we have an impeccable qualifying record.

Either way looking like a cracking PL season this year (maybe not for you though....) and hopefully the Euros we can look forward to and actually see a fully committed side who fear no-one. If Leicester can get a CL spot then whose to say England can't do something special. Some of those players will be full of confidence going into it.

So... who would you choose for your 23 man squad and staring 11?

Squad:

Keepers - Hart, Forster, Ruddy
Defenders - Walker, Jagielka, Rose, Bertrand, Smalling, Cahill, Stones
Midfielders - Drinkwater, Dier, Alli, Sterling, Milner, Lallana, Henderson, Barklay
Attackers - Vardy, Kane, Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge

Team:
Hart
Walker Cahill Smalling Rose
Dier Drinkwater
Barklay Alli
Kane Vardy

Its quite attacking, but you have 2 quite defensive mids keeping it tight. Cant choose between Kane & Vardy so why not play both seeing as they are so in form.

I think I would still make space for Walcott personally. His finishing is excellent and he still has bags of pace. Must be a reason why Wenger doesn't play him, he looked sharp when he came on the other night. I'm not sure about Milner or Henderson, the game slows down when they have the ball. They're always looking to play the ball sideways rather than forward. I'm not sure if Rooney has earn't his place...

Really? 4 goals in 22 games? Not keen on Milner but a great utility player.

If Rooney isn't fit by the time the squad is announced then he shouldn't go. Taking players who are not 100% is just stupid. My fear though, is that if he does go, he will automatically play, and I don't think he should play before Kane or Vardy.

I don't think Walcott delivers as a winger or a striker, he hasn't progressed imho. I don't know whether it is because he doesn't get the chance for a run of games or Wenger doesn't rate him to give him a run of games.

Henderson has gone backwards since last season. I don't think he has been as good as last season, being injured for most of the season didn't help, but since he came back he hasn't been very good. I can see Klopp possibly moving him on over the summer as he starts buy and mould his own team.

Milner is a versatile and reliable player, which comes especially useful in tournaments as it allows you to take extra players in other positions as he can cover various positions if needed. I think Liverpool have worked their magic on him in that he has dipped slightly since he arrived. ;) I'd always have him for England though.

Rooney will go regardless, but he should not start ahead of Kane or Vardy - lets see players who are in form!

Cant believe talk of Wilshire going - joke!

Wilshire won't be fit, he'll break something before the tournament...

I get the drift with Milner, very much a utility player, but I'm not sure that he will fit in a "new England", as he has no pace at all.

You have to watch Walcott from the stands, you don't see his movement on the TV. He pulls defences all over the place and like I said, he can finish well too. You can play him on the left or right, and I actually think he works best as an impact sub.

Liverpool v Spurs was a very good game. It seemed to be non stop. May have put a kink in Spurs title aspirations depending on what Leicester do tomorrow.

Great free kick by Payet, he couldn't have put it anywhere else.
