Have to agree. The reason they were on top in the first half was because they targeted Ozil & Sanchez, in fact at one point the ref called over the captain and told him to stop. I think they forgot about that in the first half and continued their assault, so they ended up with cards. Ozil played the ball for Giroud's knock down for Theo's goal, and took the free kick for Welbz to score the winner. He's real class.

How Drinkwater never got a red for the tackle on Ramsey I can't work out, high, above the ball, and late. It could have ended up breaking his leg (again).

I got the feeling that when the winner went in yesterday the crowd felt it could be they're year. Maybe I was just reading something into the pictures on screen.

While I was watching the Spurs game, the commentator said that in the Premier League era, Spurs had only been on the top spot for 23 (or maybe 43) days. That, and Leicester aside, may explain why they have gone under the radar a bit.

I'd like to see the ref walk up to a centre back at a corner and say "pull on that shirt, and it'll be a penalty and a yellow card" then actually have the brass to do it. WHat goes on at corners is bloody stupid at times.

Totally agree. That's pretty much what happens in Rugby Union, and it's definitely good for the game.

I thought the penalty decision in the Palace v Watford game was very brave by the Ref.

Tottenham result aside, they've been doing a good job then. Now that Bolasie is back they may improve. They didn't seem as good without him.

Liverpool v Man Utd in the Europa League could be interesting. And so should Spurs V Dortmund.

League Cup Final on Sunday and Cit€h have come into a bit of form at the wrong time, from my pov. I just hope it's a good game.

I really don't understand this 'form' terminology and hear pundits and TV/Radio presenters saying it every week when someone gets one good result .... I always thought form had to apply to a period of games, at least 3 in my books. A convincing 3-1 win away, Cit€h getting Kompany and Aguero fit, Liverpool's poor form, and the pessimism I may have going onto a final may have overstated Cit€h's form. Sorry about that.

I obviously hope you will be laughing at Liverpool fans, because that will mean Liverpool had won it. It would be nice for them to bring some laughter into the lives of others.

Seriously though, competitions and their priorities change throughout the season depending on how good or bad your team is playing, and how likely they are to win a competition they are in. You get to the final and it's 50-50, and should be taken very seriously. It could be argued Liverpool have given the League Cup a 'monkey's' more than any other team, seeing as they have won it more than any other team. Sadly, it will will always be the lowest priority for most teams at the start of the season. League title, FA Cup, League Cup, and if a team happens to be in a European competition, that may be ahead or after the FA Cup depending on which competition it is, 'Champions' League, or Europa League in their priorities. Add into all that teams going for titles or promotions, or worse flirting with relegation, and cups may have little or no priority, and can be seen as a hindrance.

I'm happy Liverpool have reached a final, and I'll be even happier if they win it. It will be one of the 3-4 cups that can be won each year.

Apparently Klopp said in a post match interview that he felt s**t. I love watching his press conferences.

I watched the the Sky coverage and saw again the bias there is against Mignolet. Some people in the media have already decided that he is rubbish and can do no good. Yes, he should have stopped their goal, but he is never given the credit for the great saves he makes. He made some brilliant saves from Aguero, and if Cech or De Gea had made the same saves they would have been raving, yet the commentary called them 'decent' saves. He played so well (goal aside) that in the studio Carragher had to concede that he had a good game, and he is not his biggest fan. On the Channel 5 highlights, the commentators gave him a bit more credit, as did Stuart Pearce and David James after the game. I'm fine with highlighting the mistakes, but give credit where it is due.

Great result for Utd, not so good for Arsenal. Spurs keep on getting the results.

I think if it wasn't for Mignolet, City would have taken that game earlier and I wouldn't have speaking with half a voice on the way home! He made some cracking saves that many other goalies wouldn't have got a hand on.

Maybe, I didn't see that, but I've watched many games were Mignolet gets negativity from the start, and any mistake is overemphasized, and anything he does that is outstanding is downplayed or ignored. I just would like him to be treated fairly, but I fear it is so ingrained in people's minds, especially some people in the media, that it doesn't matter what he does, he will never lose the bad reputation.

Until he saved our arses yesterday, now he's a bloody hero. The football community is incredibly fickle I suppose.

I couldn't comment about the media bias though, I rarely take heed of opinions of 'pundits' tbh. They all have a bias IMO.

Sorry dude, but Migs is not good enough. Not commanding enough, not *that* good a shot stopper, terrible distribution and makes too many mistakes. Defending him shows how quickly we have become accepting of mediocrity.

I'm sure there was a comment regarding goalkeepers encroaching on penalty takers recently, but it seems to have gone amiss. Everton being denied that third goal could be the difference between West Ham, getting a win and onto perhaps a top four finish (certainly the Europa spot) but it is barely acknowledged. MOTD showed it in the pundetry, but didn't dwell on the significance and I'm sure the liverpool fan that was moaning recently about their penalty miss won't be caring either

What I can't understand Simon, is that they were so poor in the 2nd half on Wednesday, yet they show the grit and determination a few days later.

Oliver Giroud is not good enough to be the main striker in a top 4 side. He's too static, lacks quality, and has poor decision making. Arsenal, if they really do want to challenge the better teams in Europe (or even the EPL) need somebody in the ilk of Aguero, Suarez, even Costa.

Hat's off to both Rambo for that unbelievable finish yesterday, and Ospina, who had a great game. We won't talk about a certain French midfielder.....

I like giroud and he does score goals but he is a no2 striker. We do need someone who is better quality as a no1. Welbeck Walcott and giroud are decent and on their day as good as anyone, but they do often go missing.

We have needed a world class Keeper for years and finally have one. But have needed 1 or 2 class CB and wenger still has done nothing about it. Huth would have been great for us. Bellerin is poor defensively which would be ok with say kompany and Huth at the back but with our back line he is a liability. Still no great Defensive mid.

As for keeper's moving for penalties, Caballero was a foot or two off his line in the shootout at the end from I think Coutinho. The best team one, but it should have been picked up on. The one in the Everton game was just a joke, approaching a yard off the line. That a Ref and two linesmen don't pick up on that is very poor imho.

I don't think Adrian would have had a chance to encroach if Lukaku had just kicked the ball rather than stall his run-up. I still think the ref had a shocker, though, but I'm sure we've all gotten used to that with Taylor in charge.
