There's certainly a bigger element of surprise in the lower leagues...like will the next pass reach its target, trickle out of play, or hit row Z (if the stadium is big enough to even have a row Z) :D
 
Nicky Bailey's penalty kick in the play offs that year nearly hit us row Z up in the North Upper :lol:
 
Weird coincidences, Higuain's first game for Napoli may be against Arsenal. :lol:

Wonder if he'll show them what they missed out. :) Though he may only have a bit part to play as it's his first game of the season.
 
He'll probably score a hatrick. Football has a habit of doing things like that! :lol:

I think it was clear we missed him last year - I've no issue with him if he plays for us all year. Was delighted to see Faurlin back in the team. Re Austin I'm genuinely quite excited about him - good age, good record. I didn't go today and missed it but am going to have to get used to that feeling this year!

You had a great last half of the season, be interesting for you if you keep going like that this year. I see you've let Rowlands and Cook go, I was hoping they'd do well for you, two of my favourite players of recent times, though both had pretty bad injuries.

There's certainly less surprise in the top division, the slightest contact or none at all and over the player goes...;)

Faurlin did really well, seemingly much better for his loan spell with Palermo. Certainly showed the defence how to tackle.

The team actually played as a team today and it made all the difference. Austin demonstrated how good he is at getting into the right position and, if they can give him the service, he's going to score a hatfull. As for Hoilett, if he can get his shooting right it's going to be a case of Adel who?

Edit: How could I forget AJ. He was like a 20 year old out there, if he can stay injury free (I know!) we're going to be in good shape up front.

All comes down to budget and neither came cheap especially as you mentioned they are carrying injuries
Cook didn't do himself any favours saying he had trouble getting motivated in Div 1, Kevin Lisbie doesn't seem to have that problem

Thought Rowlands was worth another go, but with such a small squad need to have players that hopefully can last the whole season

Good start though and got more points now than we had after ten games last season

Hopefully we will be able to rotate AJ, and keep him fit. He looked good in the Prem I thought, so should destroy this division if fit. If fit is the question for all our strikers though with Zamora and Austin as well.

You have to hope we can coach Hoillet, and he gets his confidence back this season - he has been a good prem player, so again should do well this year. I'm a bit split personality re Adel, which is probably down to his own lack of consistency. He does some things that are simply amazing, and some things that are simply amazingly frustrating. If he stays I'm happy, and if he goes I'd not be unhappy.

Really hope Faurlin has a great season, he's probably my favourite player at present and I was \ am worried Redknapp would not want him.

I did hear Cook was not that committed in some games, which is a shame as there are not many players with a better delivery outside the Premier League.

You wouldn't have been so eager to say that last year when you were a part of it...and it won't stop you striving to get to an elite tier of football again ;)

I sometimes think we're just clinging onto the past when it comes to Adel, I certainly don't think history (as in 2010/11) is going to repeat itself so, if he stays and produces a little magic every now and again, all will be good but, if he goes, no tears and we move on.

I'd be surprised if Faurlin isn't in Harry's plans after today but you never can tell.

I was. I've always said it, even back when we were one of the founding teams of the premiership. I want my team to be as successful as it can be though and that means striving for promotion to the premiership but that doesn't mean I can't prefer the way the game is played at Championship level or below.
 
Good result for Wigan today; they must fancy their chances next week.

We all said it last year, many times :)

I can certainly take or leave the Premier League. I've said before one of my favourite seasons as a QPR fan was in league 1 as it now is called.

The championship is certainly more exciting than the Premier League in terms of how teams will perform. Of course the PL has generally larger supported teams with better players etc, but as a supporter of a 'smaller' team, generally at best you're hoping for mid-table. When we were last in the PL in the 80s \ 90s we had decent changes of finishing top 5, with squad sizes now for the large teams that's almost impossible.

I'm not saying I don't want us in the PL, but equally I don't really care that we are not as the positives and negatives pretty much equal themselves out for me, and it's a lot cheaper this year!

As we did in the inaugural premier league and don't forge Watford's 2nd place in the 80s. Those days are certainly gone forever.

Wigan looked great yesterday. I can see them bouncing straight back.

Great to see a full house at Anfield for Gerrard's testimonial and hopefully over a million quid raised for charities.
 
My first dip into this thread and I see there's a fellow QPR supporter here. Good stuff!
I've been a regular season ticket holder in the past, up to a couple of years back, but can't afford it any more. Ive got high hopes for this season though and will try to get to at least a few games, especially now Harry has sold on most of the high paid prima donnas that got us relegated.
Tarabt is an odd one. Such a frustrating player to watch. He can be ridiculously brilliant and then completely useless, all in the space of 5 minutes. Personally I wouldn't miss him if he was sold on, but it doesn't look like many clubs fancy buying an expensive luxury either.

Come on you R's !!!!

I know what you mean with regards to Taarabt but, from what I saw yesterday, a certain young Canadian may well make him surplus to requirements and I could see him going out on loan.
 
Drogba was getting some stick at the Emirates today but it looks as though he got his own back.

Closer to home - Saints march on with a win against Hearts.
 
So Taarabt and Remy are both on the move today. Need to get a few more in now Harry!!
 
Ignasi Miquel and Nico Yennaris are now out on loan, taking the clear-out of players via release, transfer and loan to a total of 28 so far. That's said to add up to a whopping £490k p/w removed from the wage budget!

They make sense, though Remy in the Championship would have been interesting.

We do look a bit short up front, especially in view of the injury history of our strikers. I'd be happier with a much smaller squad though, so hope we don't bring too many in but continue to shift some out.

Why can't these prima donnas just grow a pair and say in public they want out?

Mbia looks to be on the way out and I can't see a certain Brazilian goalie being around too long. What does that make, twelve players gone/going already? I agree we could do with another decent striker though, Zamora and Johnson seem a bit injury prone....shame Mackie left really. :(

I've pretty much accepted that Cesar, Granero etc are as good as gone. Remy's confirmed and Adel appears to be as well. Time to move on I feel.

Good win this evening, Austin getting a goal 73 seconds into his full debut. Getting into the winning habit I hope.
