I also don't think Fabreags will come to United.

Martino said he wasn't for sale today or at least he said that was the view of the financial people at Barca after United's first two offers.

vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu then echoed the sentiments of Martino as did technical director Andoni Zubizaretta.

I'm sure silly money would do it but I'm not bothered about him enough for United to go hell bent daft.
 
Liverpool are now saying they won't sell to direct rivals. Well that rules out Everton, Newcastle, Swansea and Tottenham making a move for the want-away man, but leaves Arsenal right in the running :lol:

Na spurs fight for top 4 now along with Everton. Everton are not a direct rival to Liverpool as they keep finishing way ahead of them lol

I often wonder if liverpool's 'loyalty' is misguided, or just a myth. Pepe desrves better

Pepe was expecting to move to Barca and had already made it clear he would be going earlier in the year. As Valdes decided to run his contract down he was left in a bit of a fix. What was Buck supposed to do? He bought a replacement and assumed Pepe would prefer to play first team football than warm the bench. Honestly, I don't know what Reina expected.

Liverpool have reached some lows recently, but kidnapping your goalkeeper in the middle of the night, blinfolding him and sending on a flight to another country to play for another team is bang out of order. This is a shocking abuse of power.

If only Reina had the power to say no to the move.
 
Reina has been a very loyal servant for Liverpool so I find it pretty shocking they can agree to offload him to Italy without discussing their plans with him first. I think it demonstrates an absolute lack of respect towards the man to not discuss intentions like that first.

Exactly. If you don't want to go, you don't go. The player should always be informed of any movements that concern him though.

But if Barca had put in a bid he'd have been off like a shot. Rodgers wisely planned for an anticipated Barca bid by bringing in an international keeper, but the bid never came. :shrug:

He was willing to discuss a new contract if the Barca bid didn't materialise though. That was good of him. No doubt for more money, and with some clause inserted so that if Barca came back next year it would make it easier to go.

So LFC have bid a shed load for Costa. I've seen very little of him and certainly not enough to have an opinion other than to know he's a bit hot-headed. I'm assuming he'l play a wide role in the front three but with the option of going up top if needed.
 
Sounds like a good replacement for Suarez in every aspect. A £21m bid should surely indicate that Liverpool are anticipating Suarez's departure, regardless of the manager's comments, much like the signing of Giroud ahead of RVP leaving us last year.

Either that or it's a sign to Suarez that we can compete. Either way I cannot see Wenger bidding over 50 million for anyone without genuinely having an aneurism so you ain't getting him. ;)
 
Well done to Swansea last night for their 4-0 Europa League win against Malmo. :clap:

It's always a tricky tie playing a team who are half way through their season, when we're still in pre-season here. They did have a bit of luck, but they looked cool and calm and played a good game. :)

As far as I'm concerned it's a win win from here on. If we get him it'll be so funny to watch the backlash from Liverpool fans and if we don't then we avoid signing a disgusting player.

Hedging my bets like that so it's a win win...I'm beginning to sound like a certain member no longer of this forum :bonk:

So long as you dont start putting more value in beating a specific club a couple of times a year than actually winning trophies, then you're safe :D

Win, win for me too. If he goes he's no longer our problem and if he stays we can sit back and laugh at you lot crying that Wenger hasn't bought anyone decent again.

Make that 17. Chamakh has agreed a loan to crystal palace, and only having 12 months left on his contract that will surely mean he doesn't return. Gervinho has agreed a permanent transfer to Roma.
 
Boom. Season starts tomorrow. Gawd, I've missed it. And for you in the upper gods, that's the proper leagues starting tomorrow where it's exciting and no one knows who's going to end up winning the promotion battle :p

I wouldn't put money on that. :shake: :lol: Wenger seems averse to spending money. He may be serious about Suarez, but that is only one player, and by the looks of it, the Arsenal squad is short on bodies.

while the rest of the world laugh at liverpool for being stuck with an ungrateful bag of trouble who is threatening legal action for not letting him talk to arsenal. Football can be as much fun off the pitch as it is on ;)
 
I am stupidly excited. I had a ticket for today to go down to Bournemouth but apparently a family wedding takes precedence :thinking:

Thank goodness we've just signed two strikers as well, I was having kittens pre-season every time Kermogant looked like he was going over. He has a tendancy to go into every challenge hard and fast

Some people have no priorities whatsoever. Honestly, who plans a wedding on the first Saturday of the football season??? :rules:

I'm cautiously excite about today, signing Charlie Austin this week has given me hope that we will actually have some firepower this season.
