I live in hope, (in my heart ;)) but I won't believe it till it is impossible to lose it.

Too may disappointments over the years, and too many twists and turns this year to take anything for granted. It's looking good though. :)

It is looking good for you guys and I know exactly how you feel. I'm sure it'll be fine.

It would be very odd if the title went anywhere other than Anfield now.

Yeah I do Dean. However, I suspect Everton will beat City and you should beat Chelsea, game over. I also suspect that Crystal Palace could be a banana skin for both Liverpool and City.

I may be totally wrong of course, which I usually am and that is why I never bet on football.

I can certainly see City and Chelsea dropping points and I too think Palace will be a really tough game for us. I don't think the Chelsea game is a given - they've got the tools to counter-attack us and cause damage.

It's looking an awful lot like Moyes is being sacked today...

Yeah, I'm hearing rumours.

Must admit, I'll be very surprised if true. I'd heard he was getting quite the war chest for next season and, without any European distractions, I'd be expecting them to do what Liverpool have done this season.

If the get the right manager they certainly could do that. Terrible news. #Moyesin

It would be pretty hard to do what Liverpool did this season no matter how much they spend with Moyes in charge. Liverpool finished last season very well, and thankfully kept the momentum going into this season.

With a new attacking minded manager, and lots of money they could nip the decline in the bud.

Talk of Giggs in charge long term is a big risk. It worked at Liverpool with Dalglish, but he was taking over a confident winning team. Moyes in charge has has taken the confidence out of the club, highlighted the squads deficiencies that continued success can mask, and I think only a big name proven manager could quickly turn it around.

Don't see why they couldn't do it with Moyes tbh, he hasn't become a bad manager overnight. Maybe he just needs to build his own team.

Just seen Sky News tweet that Man Utd are refusing to comment, no denial though.

I see Moyes in the same light as Hodgson - a decent man out of his depth and with no real idea of what is expected at either of the greatest clubs in this country.

I see him as a man who's taken over a team with Fergie's way of doing things ingrained in them. The only way for him to succeed is to change things to his way and that takes time. To write him off after not even one season is ludicrous in my mind.

I would love to see him stay!

Funny old game, eh? Dinners will be along to reflect soon.

Look like you're out of luck

Mixed reports about this but I'm happy if he goes - depending on the alternative obviously.

I'll always back the manager but if there really is going to be some serious spending - I'm not sure I want him spending it :)

Very late in the day to get a replacement in though unless they already have someone lined up.

Late in the day ?

Next meaningful game after going out of the Champions League isn't till next season.

Very bad decision. Remember that fergie had a poor start. Last season only city had a chance of winning league and they fell apart. This season Liverpool, arsenal, Chelsea are all stronger and Everton have improved too. Moyes should have been given another year to bring in his own players.

Can't compare the two.

Fergie toook over a shambles that needed rebuilding from the ground up.

Moyes took over the Premier League Champions.

I didn't expect Moyes to win the title but I've seen nothing to suggest it's worth giving him the time.

I can understand Man UTD being reluctant to give him a big war chest. I am always prepared to give players time, but Fellani must be one of the most expensive flops ever. In the first leg against Bayern, he was truly appalling. In fact, during the games I have seen, he has been bloody awful since he joined. Granted he may need time to settle, but there is just nothing coming from him, no flair,no skill, nothing.

It was a poor united team that won it last year, which shows how bad the rest of us were. So yes, they do need to rebuild, but is Moyes the man to do it, I don`t think so to be honest. His style of play will not satisfy a huge fan base that is used to winning.

Have to wait and see I guess.

MUFC confirming nothing however 'significant' news generally can't be released till NY Stock Exchange close of business which is 21:00 I think.

I'm always one for giving managers time, and when Moyes went there I said give him a couple of years, but the style of football he has them playing is not working with the players or the fans, and is not what they are used to, or want. He had Everton playing more attractive football. It may be that he thinks there needed to be a period of consolidation, but Utd have to do that while playing attacking football, or at least giving 100% till the final whistle. They are not doing that.

One of the things Moyes did with Everton was make a team of maybe not the best players work as team and maybe play beyond the level of the individual while slowly building up the quality through shrewd buys. At Utd he seems to have done the opposite. He has made a championship winning team look ordinary. Yes, it's the players fault too, maybe more so, but it's easier to change a manager than 5-10 players quickly.

He didn't help himself by not getting players in the Summer, and then compounded that mistake in the Winter transfer window by doing poor business. It may be more difficult to do business in the Winter, but to mess up the Summer was a disaster.

For 70% of the Premier League teams they have had a good season, but this is Utd, and the reigning Champions, expectations are a bit higher.

Agree completely with that. Man Utd have a lot of fans that have never known anything other than success. Some of my mates of a similar age, remember the years of winning nothing as United fans, but this team is just not playing attractive football and don`t look likely to either. That is what is grating with them.

As a part time City fan, much prefer rugby, I remember the days at Maine Road when the local derby was against Macclesfield, I didn`t expect to win anything this year with a new manager at City, but at least we are playing attractive football and are entertaining. Pellegrini deserves time, not sure if Moyes does.

Whilst i`m at it, I can`t stand Liverpool Football Club, but credit were it is due, they are a good team, with good players playing some damned good football, they gave the manager time and it worked for them. If they win the title, I can`t see them failing, then they deserve it..........God it hurt typing that..........

As a Liverpool fan, who over an extended period of years, had to take a lot of "stick" from my Utd mates, I thought I would enjoy the Utd downfall. Strangely not. I'd much rather have them up there, playing well, so when we do beat them it feels even better.

I like Moyes, but unfortunately for him, I don't think he has the time to rebuild. Fergie knew that the Utd era was coming to an end, so I think Moyes was always going to have a difficult time. Just never though it would be so negative so quickly.

I haven't contributed to this thread before, but that resonated with me. I've been a lifelong Manchester United fan (long enough to remember relegation in the early 1970s!) but I have to admire the football Liverpool have been playing this season. They do deserve the title.

I've actually warmed to Utd this season simply because Fergie is no longer in charge. I've always liked Moyes as a man and hate seeing good men suffer, but let's be honest here, he's going to be very wealthy and will find another job with ease at his level.

I've been a lifelong Man U fan, i.e. since the mid 60's. David Moyes has not delivered this year and to be honest I'm surprised it's taken this long. Can only surmise that the club waited until they could no longer qualify for Europe next year. However, Sky Sports News have just said that Utd have issued a statement to the effect that Moyes remains in charge. So will just have to wait and see.

As for Liverpool FC, the way they have played this season, they deserve to win the Prem. Good luck to them.

I was away from internet/tv/radio until about 6, when I put talksport on in the car ... it took me a good 30 minutes to realise that absolutely nothing has happened

The Independent are stating.........

The Glazer family, who will be in Manchester next week to help oversee a managerial recruitment process in which Borussia Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp is a front-runner, appear to have sanctioned the removal of Moyes as far back as the Champions League defeat at Olympiakos on 25 February. The decision to get rid of the 50-year-old was discussed and possibly ratified at a recent United board meeting but there is a financial motive behind delaying removing him until now.

The mathematical impossibility of United finishing in the top four this season, following their 11th Premier League defeat of the season at Goodison Park on Sunday, means that United need only give Moyes a one-year pay-off under the terms of his five-year deal, rather than honour the full four years left on that contract.

The process of sounding managers out may have under way for as long as four weeks.

Interesting one about the one year pay-off.

Easy win for City tonight, really surprised with West Brom, who didn't really put up a fight.

Bigger news, may be Silva, who went off injured. Would be a big blow to City, if the injury keeps him out, as he has been an outstanding player.
