Good win for Liverpool, not the greatest of games and took a while to warm up. Hull never really looked like scoring and Suarez was not at his best by any stretch but comfortable is the best word to describe it.

Not sure what Apas does as he was like Sterling last year so light weight that you wonder how he can be played. Hopefully I more interesting game in the cup but knowing cup games it will be a horrible thing to watch!

Good and much needed win from Spurs yesterday - I see the jokes have started...

Latest news from the January transfer window

Howard Webb in shock move to Spurs from Man Utd..........

What's the similarity between David Moyes and a christmas Turkey?

Both were sttting stuffed in the middle of the table on Christmas Day...

Now that was a fantastic game of football!

Everyone played well. Gnabry particularly impressed me. He gets through so much defensive work and looks so calm in the final third. I really hope to see some more of him this season.

And Walcott's gesture as he came off...what an absolute hero :lol::lol::lol:

Walcott was classic. Knowing the fa they will probably charge him while not charging cheats like oscar.

Spurs were very poor though.

Walcott's gesture was humorous right up to the point that the people carrying him started getting pelted with stuff from the crowd. If I was carrying him I would have dropped him to shield myself from getting hit by anything. Do **** like that when you're walking off alone. ;)

Arsenal were by far the better team. Spurs not offering much offensively.

Good result by Blackburn against Citeh. Although Citeh were away of course. ;) I don't hold out much hope for them against Citeh when they are at home. Stranger things have happened in the Cup though.

Very good result for Sheff Utd v Villa. Though I think Villa were hinting they were not going to take the Cup seriously, and that can lead to results like that.

Just seen the news that Eusebio has passed away at the age of 71. :(

I obviously knew him as a footballing great, but he was retired not long after I was born so he was great by reputation and standing in the game, not from watching him play in games.

Top scorer in the '66 World Cup and 733 goals in 745 games though.  Respect due. :notworthy:

Good grief ... really wanted an FA Cup run to keep the season going .... hopefully we'll squeeze through the mickey mouse semis and not be humiliated too much by citeh (if they get through ).

Very sad news.

I never saw him play in the flesh but I always remember my dad talking about the great Eusebio.

Bit miffed at the United result today as a good cup run could have done wonders. I'll take some consolation out of the fact it was Swansea as I like to see them do well.

After another of Chelski's players booked today for diving, Jose Mourinho still doesn't think they have any divers in their squad. Remember Torres has also had 3 yellow cards for diving as well, not just this season though and they have 12 bookings for 'simulation' since 2008 (only beaten by Tottenham with 13 and 7 of those for Bale). Let's also not forget that Drogba actually admitted in an interview that he dived but as that was in Mourinho's first reign at Chelski I suppose that doesn't matter any more. Before slating any other players from the opposition he ought to get his big hypocritical gob into gear and have a look closer to home. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25586007

Man Utd wonderkid Adnan Januzaj is already at number 2 in the Diving league after 3 cards in 14 appearances this season alone, yet there's no clamour to have him banned for a lot of matches the way there has been with other players. Hardly gets a mention in the papers does it, compared to others who make the headlines. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...mulation-just-14-games-Manchester-United.html

It's amazing how many people have criticised Suarez for diving (Tony Pulis at ThugsRUs, David Moyes (Hah) at Everton & Mourinho the other day to deflect another poor referee performance) over the last few years considering he has only had 2 yellows for the same thing since arriving over 2 years ago. Wow, that averages out at a whole ONCE per year but you would of thought he was the biggest offender the game had ever seen. About time people got off his back and let him get on and play.

I don't criticise Suarez for diving, but I do for his often 'stamp' tackles, deliberately going in studs up.

Man Utd - the Goliath of english football...
Until along came David

Man Utd have been asked if they'd have Relate as their sponsors next season
Must be something to do with being battered at home

Aren't there any new football jokes ;)

Wenger, Mourinho, Rodgers, Moyes and Martinez were in the pub.

Mourinho bought the first round; five Portuguese beers. Martinez bought the second round; five San Miguels. The third round was on Wenger, who bought five glasses of red wine. The fourth round was on Rodgers; four pints of bitter.

Moyes said, "Hey, where's my pint?" Rodgers looked at him and said, "Sorry David, this is the fourth round, and you're not in it."

That's a joke within a joke - it has an optional third line :)

Is it along the lines of
Moyes later said to Pep and Gerardo "I left Arsene and Jose in that pub that no-one cares about. They're just trying to shake off a pair of lads trying to sell dodgy tracksuits"

No I just meant loose the third line completely

Ah ... jokes/banter have never been my strong point :D

manchester united as a club for the last 20 years has been such a goliath

and then along came david

Huge loss with Theo out for 6 months with a rupture anterior cruciate ligament. Absolutely gutted.

As the World Cup starts in 5 months, I'd say that's a given. ;)

Didn't see the 6 month reference but if it's a cruciate, I guess it is a given.

I'd heard something about him going off the other night but hadn't really heard much more about it up here.

Big blow for Arsenal with Walcott gone, amazing to see him seem so happy and pain free when he was going off, it'll be a big blow for Wenger who'll have to spend some extra to replace him on top of the striker he already wanted. Maybe Wenger will go for Berbatov as a short term replacement now. Big blow for England too.

On the whole, there does seem to be a lot of injuries this year, Arsenal have a few out, West Ham have half a team out, Liverpool have a few long term injuries too as do a few other clubs. I wonder if it's just 'one of those years' or if there's some other underlying reason with clubs pushing too hard with training etc as there's so much pressure on each club to win everything. There's a very limited amount of trophies to be won each season and a limited amount of euro places available but it seems that there's about 8-10 clubs that have told the managers that a cup or euro place is a minimum or the axe falls.

There's also a very limited amount of clubs that can spend whatever they want to ensure they can get to these minimum expectations so a bit of realisation from the clubs owners of what they're likely to achieve would probably help out the national team (instead of tiring out all the top players each season). Maybe Paul Lambert and Sam Allardyce (and the clubs owners) have got more sense in their approach to cup competitions than it first seems and they shouldn't be condemned for supposedly devaluing the cup if it ensures their stay in the premier league. I know every player would love to walk out at Wembley for a cup final but maybe they should be more realistic (and less of the Prima Donna acts) and realise the clubs they're at are generally the right level of expertise.

There seem to be more injuries because they are all coming at a similar time, to some high profile players. The players themselves have never been monitored so much before, and it is highly unlikely that the clubs would push players too far with all the information they have. Player themselves though doing bad tackles seems to have got worse, and only not playing at all can keep you safe from that. Saying that though, some players have been getting injured in training. ;)

This is a very important year for those near the bottom because the new TV rights money kicks in, and getting relegated could be a bigger hit than ever before. Putting weakened sides into the Cup competitions is important if you are near the bottom, or challenging at the top, for most teams it is a chance to win something. In a year like this, were it is very tight at the top, and very tight at the bottom, there is a chance that more will sacrifice the cup competitions. They take the chance of taking away any confidence or momentum they may have by losing cup games.

Also some club owners are starting to think that mid table, or even survival is not good enough. There are only three, possibly four or five trophies available depending on whether you are involved in Europe up for grabs each season. For the Premier League title there are maybe 2-4 teams normally with a realistic chance of winning it. This year it may be a bit more open than usual, time will tell. That leaves the League and FA Cups for most teams. The League Cup seems most attainable looking at finalists and winners from history. The FA Cup has become a bit more open to those other than the top of the Premier League in recent years. To not try to win a cup seems stupid to me. Throughout a career there are 30-50 chances to win something, to discount all of that for money is a sad time to be living in indeed. :(

Excuse my naivety, but did someone change the rules of football? I thought as a Manchester United fan, we were supposed to win everything?

Seriously though, the sooner we get a revolving door built into the manager's office, the better. What an insane idea, bringing in a manager with no trophies or any measure of success in the English league who wants to do his own thing and try ou the old guard before entrusting the future with youngsters. God help us .........................................

No, that's just what everybody else thinks Man United fans think ;)

Calm down there

This season was always going to be fallow and everybody was always going to get carried away with it.

With the exception of 3 or 4 players we've been behind 2 or 3 teams in terms of quality for a few years now. If anything it's testement to Fergie that he managed to win the last few titles he did.

Fergie rebuilt teams every 4 or 5 years and that's where we are now. He wasn't going to be around long enough to do it again so it's time to hand things over.

Whether Moyes is the man to begin the next team, who knows. Frankly, who cares ?

I'm happy to just let him get on and see what he thinks of the players he has before the work begins.

Bought the wife a Man United bra and she hates it. She says the support is carp, and it won't be long till the tits are out of both cups

I've said that all along mate ;) I dont know what's more amusing; ABUs wetting their pants at the United's 'demise' or the idiots on RedCafe panicking ;)

Sounds a bit fishy to me ;)
Oh, the old jokes had to come around in our direction eventually :D

When posting football jokes our way you have to remember we've been directing them at others for years so please come up with some new ones lol

I don't go on the Cafe much but a lot of the United fans there are quite young to be fair and this is new to them.

As for the ABUs. Some are deluded but always have been and some are good fun. It's all fair game as far as I'm concerned.
