It's a tough one.

More English players playing at a higher level would probably benefit the National team but surely clubs should be free to buy whichever players they want regardless of Nationalality ?

Agreed, it is a tough one, the way i look at it that anyone with an endless supply of money can come along and buy a club, as Cardiff City, they then dictate what happens, like changing the colours they play in and wanting the name changing to Cardiff Dragons, the thing is i guess it's their club so can do what they want but it does nothing for the genuine fans or indeed football fans throughout the country, maybe if the FA starting actually doing something about this ludicrous money thing then these rich boys may stop spoiling the game, the only way i can see it is to stop footballers coming over here to earn this big money, the same for managers, how can someone be a manager in the english perm league when they don't hardly speak a word of english!
The other side of the thing is it brings the best players here and supposedly we can watch the best football but then look what it does for the national side.....i guess it just comes down to what people want, the fans feeling part of the club or the fans not really caring and just wanting success

Don't forget, in the 70s probably 70/80% of the players were English (at a guess) and we failed to qualify for 74 and 78 WC and I think the 76 Euro! So it doesn't always follow that the national team will benefit.

Personally though we need to do something, what annoys me most is not the fact that Chelsea, Arsenal etc... have them as the players there are top drawer, but its the 2nd rate foreign players at places like Sunderland, Wigan and other Championship sides. Outside the Prem there should certainly be a 5 foreigner limit in the team, and maybe something like 10 British players in the 22/25 man squads clubs have in the Prem?

Had this guy not been in charge, would Cardiff be in the Prem and would they stand a decent chance of staying up? However, there should be a rule on changing things like club names, colours etc... and it should only be with the vote of the fans if things change. If Malky does get sacked then I for one will hope they go down, as he is doing a decent job there and has behaved brilliantly. The BBC guy on Football Focus had it right - "Malky will be at a club better than Cardiff before they get a manager better than Malky".

If he does go then what chance him being Norwich Manager in the next month or so?

Without a doubt they wouldn't be where they are now without his money, it could happen to any team really if someone wants to throws millions at them, will be interesting to see, can't see theres much doubt that Malky will go, who will take up the job. Seems funny rules in football that even when sacked the manager will get his contract paid off and i doubt anyone in football will see Malky as a bad manager who lost his job for poor management.

I hope the FA are watching the CCFC fans and start getting involved with these Rich Boys playthings, i can't imagine theres many real football fans who are now enjoying the premier league with the criminal amounts of money being waved around......even Suarez, he's on top form, but £200,000 a week is utter madness.

I doubt there is anything the FA could do about the Cardiff City owner. What rules has he broken? Mackay has/is being treated very badly, but if he goes, anyone who takes the job after him needs their head examining, and will deserve all they get for taking such a bad job.

As for Suarez, and the amount of money he is being paid, yes it's obscene. But it is the going rate for one of the best players in the World. On current form he is probably the best player in the World in a top league. 19 goals, in 12 games, and 5 assists. Whilst I think that the amount the players get paid is bad for football as a whole, but it's not my money they are paying him/them, so I don't worry too much about it.

About time they brought back the ruling of the number of foreign players per team.
A nice idea, and it could probably benefit the National Team in the long term, but it would damage clubs in the short term, especially if England did it unilaterally, and I doubt many clubs would be in favour of such a move. Freedom of trade and movement in Europe especially would rule that out too.

So... Wilshire cops a 2 game ban for raising a finger... and Januzaj gets away with blatant cheating (well, what harm is a yellow) - well done FA.

Livermore kicks and smashes a camera behind the goal. See the lens go flying..

Boohoo!

I think the Liverpool fans were just hanging about because they genuinely thought Cardiff were going to Feeeed The Scousers :D

:tumbleweed:

Well done, a show of solidarity and support for a rival manager, and rival fans at a difficult time, and you have to try and get a dig in. :|

Are people from Liverpool known for needing feeding?

Surprisingly Mackay hasn't been sacked has expected by almost everyone. Maybe someone has talked some sense into the owner. ;) I doubt it though.

Apparently the owner wouldn't let Mackay sign a player because he was born in a year which was had an unlucky Chinese New Year symbol. :cuckoo: How to you respond to something like that. Mackay must be a master of the deadpan response, rather than 'wtf **** head, are you serious?'.

Feed the Scousers, Let them know it's Christmas time. Do people still honestly sing that ?

It's one of those songs like 'In the Liverpool slums' - harps back to 1980s unemployment and city depression etc

Kind of ironic given how much football has changed and the cost for fans these days.

The Cardiff supporters were singing it loud and clear yesterday before the first goal - football, it's a funny old game.

Listening to Spurs v Saints whilst wrapping presents. It's a job and a half with 4 kids and my wife's birthday on Christmas eve.

Sounds like a good open game.

My previous post just had me wondering if the Spurs fans still sing about Adebayor's parent professions. A little gimp I used to work with used to think it hilarious and I bet he still does.

Malky to stay? http://www.cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=130176

Reading some comments above,is there any football club in the Premiership or Championship that is not supported by a wealthy backer/s without whom they would not be able to survive at the top? I am struggling to think of one.

Arsenal v Chelsea then.

I can't decide whether I want a draw, an Arsenal win or a Chelsea win

I'll just watch it and hope for a good game.

I'm hoping for an Arsenal win so expect a Chelsea one.

Looked like Chel$ki came not to lose, and hopefully not to concede after recent results, and job done. Not the best game though.

Seems weird Liverpool being top at Christmas after all these years. :) Good sign of progress though. :D

The next big test comes on Boxing Day v City. Hope that's good game, whichever way it goes. :)

When the post match comments by neville and Jamie arguing and discussing over whether makel should have seen read is more entertaining the the match itself then you know the match was proper s***

Happy, as a Liverpool fan, to be top :) But keep an eye out for Everton, potentially, the easiest games over the festive period.

Personally, think it's great that the top of the league is so open.

I fully expect us not to be top come the 1st. But this has been a goodstart to and long may it continue.

Still think four will be a struggle so many sides being up there.

Agreed. Liverpool are going great guns and it's good to see Everton riding high.

As for it all being open - it was always going to be an odd season (especially the start of it) with so many changes at what you would call the big clubs.

Liverpool will be fine.

I honestly think it's time Liverpool grew a pair and realised they are no longer 'Broject' but actually (along with Arsenall) more stable and better placed to deliver than any other top team at the moment. Especially without having Champions leage to juggle.

Chelsea and City are miles behind in terms of titles so I'm glad United went 2 clear of Liverpool as I'd rather see Liverpool win this years League over either of those.

Back to the Livermore kicking the camera story. Seems the photographer Richard Heathcote contacted him via twitter:

A full fixure list in one day - I miss days like this.

Enjoyed the Hull v United game although with their superb defensive record i feared the worst when we went 2:0 down.

Really pleased to Carrick back (as well as Fletcher) and hope to see some stability and composure return over the coming games.

Off to watch City v Liverpool with the comfort of not caring who wins. Slight shame Aguero is out as he's been on fire at home but it could be a cracking game.

malkey mackay sacked as cardiff city manager ...the saga continues.

We were fortunate to beat Liverpool last night, Sterling was not offside.

The Cardiff thing is a bloody shambles. Similar to what we did years ago.

A shambles it is and huge one at that. They ( CCFC board) are looking at Boothroyd who was at Northampton (now bottom of the 2nd, and no doubts within a few years so will the bluebirds) as a successor, who in their right mind would want to work under this meglomaniac, the guy knows chuff all about football but wants total control. a dark, dark day in Cardiff.

Well the football is coming thick and fast now.

With Newcastle and Everton both playing tomorrow I'm hoping United can get a win at Carrow Road today (not done well there of late) and end the day at the dizzy heights of joint 5th level on points with Everton.

Newcastle v Arsenal tomorrow - Not sure who I want to win. Looking at the last 10 game form table - nobody has gained more points than Newcastle.

Man City P10 - W7 - D1 - L2 - 22 PTS
New Utd P10 - W7 - D1 - L2 - 22 PTS
Arsenal P10 - W6 - D2 - L2 - 20 PTS
Man Utd P10 - W6 - D2 - L2 - 20 PTS
Chelsea P10 - W6 - D2 - L2 - 20 PTS
Everton P10 - W4 - D4 - L1 - 19 PTS
Liverpool P10 - W6 - D1 - L3 - 19 PTS
Tottenham P10 - W4 - D3 - L3 - 15 PTS

Chelsea v Liverpool tomorrow. Another big game where I've no idea who I want to win

well for cardiff city to stay in the premiership its gonna take nothing less than a miracle
yesterday we played some of our best attacking football all season but fell apart in the last 25 minutes.
substitutions where terrible why put a useless striker on when you are winning this was unacceptable.
and now we have to find a new manager who in theyer right mind would want to work for vincent tan
the guys bonkers and is now talking of another 25million on players in january.
to be perfectley honest id rather he didnt spend any more money and we go down and start again.

ive had enough of this rubbish we cardiff city are a laughing stock in worldwide football i will never go to another game i wont listen to radio commentrey as long as that idiot
vincent tan owns cardiff city

sad days and they will get worse as time goes by r.i.p cardiff city

My nerves were certainly on edge during the last 15 minutes of that game but another important win for us!

On a different topic, has anyone else been appalled by the standard of refereeing this season? Bias aside, I can't remember a season where there has been such a low and inconsistent standard across the board as we've seen so far this season.

Yes - an important 3 points for Arsenal and a good result for United as things currently stand.

I really enjoyed the Chelsea v Liverpool game today.

I wasn't sure who I wanted to win (or draw) but I think it was clear Chelsea are the better team.

Suarez has been brilliant so far this season but frustration seems to come into play against the better sides.....

Joking aside - I really like Joe Allen but he looked a bit out of his depth today. Oscar (another lightweight) looked good and Hazard was man of the match for me.

Agger seems to be growing as a player but Skrtel is crazy. Every time there is a corner or free kick he's giving the ref the option of a penalty.

Henderson continues to do well without Gerrard but he's a strange one. He comes over as being so awkward, like some kind of orangutan but I hope he can take his good form into the World cup.
