See that rvp has more class than the idiot arsenal fans there

Sagna, yet more proof that he has to go this summer.

I don't think the Arsenal fans have given him much stick. Pretty muted really.

You deserve the wooden spoon for being one of the worst fans around. Is it that hard to get behind your team? I bet you look up to Piers Morgan.

Gervinho has shown remarkable improvement recently and you can't deny when he's on his game he's a serious threat. I'm happy to keep him in the squad. If he can deliver more consistency he'll be a huge asset.

Sagna has had 1 poor season but has previously been voted twice in the PFA Team of the Year. Sacking off a player after a poor season isn't exactly progress is it. It looks likely Sagna will leave anyway, but he'll be missed. Wouldn't put it past you to criticise Wenger for selling our stars if he does leave.

Sagna is a liability as shown today. A few poor games is one thing. A poor season is another. If he has had a poor season like U say then why does he play week after week?

Gervinho would not get anywhere near an Everton or Liverpool team, let alone playing for a top 4 challenger. He rarely is 'on his game' against good sides.

Stuart Downing.

This is a waste of my time anyway, you'll never actually get behind the team.

Pretty happy with today actually. A draw isn't the end of the world against league champions. If we play like that all of next season not many teams will hold us to a draw :)

I do support the team, but I also criticise players or decisions I don't like. I also support players like szechney who I feel often gets unjust criticism. Just my opinion of course.

3 points would have been nice with the spuds dropping 2 yesterday, but TBH would have taken 1 before kick off.

Arsenal today showed their class with a well deserved guard of honor for the champions. Good to be a Gooner!

So Garath Bale gets PFA Player of the year - also therefore young player of the year. Fair enough I think.

Premier League Team of the Year:
David De Gea (Manchester United), Pablo Zabaleta (Manchester City), Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Leighton Baines (Everton), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Juan Mata (Chelsea), Gareth Bale (Tottenham), Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Luis Suarez (Liverpool), Robin van Persie (Manchester United).

What makes Bale more deserving than Suarez? Remember this is based purely on football.

And why no Gerrard in that team? He's arguable had his best season in years.

He may well have had but that doesn't mean he was better than Mata or Hazard or Carrick.

Every player apart from Suarez is in a team that is above Liverpool in the league.....maybe that is a hint as to why Gerrard is not in the team too!

And if were a manager of a team.....I would like to use that PFA team of the year as my 1st XI.......it would be very exciting.

Yeah, it's a good team for sure.

Because more PFA members thought Bale was the best player.

At the end of the day, that's all it is.

Mmm, maybe. I smell a conspiracy. ;)

For me it should have been Suarez or RVP to win it - probably Suarez.

Not sure I agree with Zabaleta, think daSilva has had a good season, or possibly Walker? Rio, not for me, Jagielka has been strong. Not sure about Hazard either - maybe walcott?

Whether it's intended to be or not there will always be an element of popularity contest in these types of awards. Even if a player thinks Suarez is the best in the league, if they really dislike him they're unlikely to want to see him rewarded and their vote will go elsewhere. Given all the little 'tricks' he pulls on the pitch it wouldn't surprise me at all if his unpopularity amongst non-liverpool fans is reflected in the teams.

Bale, on the other hand, is spoken quite highly of, as well as being a fantastic player, so it's of little surprise that people are happier to see him rewarded for his achievements. He's also made the most influential single-handed contribution to any team in terms of league position. On that basis it's hard to disagree with him winning.

I was amazed to see De Gea make it into the TOTY. Cech, Begovic, Mignolet and maybe even Vorm have been better in my opinion. Not quite as spectacular as De Gea who has a habit of diving the wrong way but still blocking the shot with his feet/legs  He has improved considerably to be fair to him, and will only get better, but this year I think it should have gone to Mignolet. I'd love for him to join Arsenal in the summer!

I just hit google to see if the stats support my impression of how GKs have performed and found this table:

Obviously there's more to it than the number of saves made but I don't see how De Gea has got there to be honest.

Interestingly no Arsenal players.

Cazorla a glaring omission, really thought he would have made it in - but as stated above, pretty tough competition.

Big game tonight. Looking for a Villa win.

I'd have swapped Cazorla in for Hazard as well. Over the course of the season he has been a much better player (goals, assists, chances created, pass accuracy etc.).

Bale is a deserving winner, although he needs to cut the diving out. The team of the year looks pretty fair too, good to see Carrick getting the acclaim he deserves for doing the dirty work often overlooked by people.

With PFA awards - I think members vote in a kind of 'all things considered' manner.

Take your DDG example - he had a difficult first season during which time he came in for a lot of criticism. This season he's improved a lot and has established himself as the United first choice keeper.

Well at least I am finally put out of my misery. Goodbye Premier League, it's been, well, not very enjoyable actually.

What will happen now? Who knows but at least it's a while until the transfer window opens again.

Any team of the year that doesn't include Michu is not being judged purely on the quality of the football. :shake: He was on fire until the last month or so. If that means losing Carrick or Hazard, then so be it.

On the best quality football, throughout the year, Suarez should have won. Don't doubt the personalities of Bale and Suarez has played a part, as I doubt you'd vote for someone you didn't like, it's human nature.

I said earlier in this thread that I thought Bale would win. I didn't expect him to get both though. I think it is time that the young player of the year went to players under 21. 23 is too old, especially when some players are starting at 16. I think Fabregas had a few hundred games by the time he was 23. You could be an established player by 23.

Typical Liverfool fan.....Bale was far better than Suarez, imo - their win ratio is a plus point for this facht.

They were both tied in the diving votes though...........

Graham Taylor's getting a bit of grief on talksport over the selection of comedian Reginal D Hunter at the awards :D They were expecting the nice act we see on mainstream TV and not the frequent use of the word 'nigger'
I'm sure suarez was laughing his head off, in between bites of fellow diners

What was his Suarez joke anyway ?

Is it true that the Uruguayan's name was booed by fellow professionals and other guests at the Grosvenor Hotel in Mayfair on two seperate occasions ?

Well, next season should be more enjoyable

Oh, wait, Steve Claridge! :gag:

:D You know what, I don't actually think he is that bad, and at least he speaks his mind. I'd prefer his analysis over Alan 'I do no research on bottom half of the PL teams' Shearer.

I alternate currently between complete apathy and anger at the ineptitude of everything that has gone on this season. I'm more concerned that we have learned nothing, and come July Harry will have spending spree, and continue to say he is blameless for anything until the day he leaves on another huge paycheck (he's not grown on me if you can tell:gag:).
