 If you were betting on the outcome of a coin-toss you'd put a quid on heads and a quid on tails just so you could say you were right regardless!

No way, I either bet on a sure thing, or a bet on an outcome I don't like so it makes the pain less. Betting on two outcomes the same is not my style

DiCanio to Sunderland :cuckoo:

Well they need some life injecting into them, who knows what will happen, should be interesting....
It will be interesting alright:) Taking a bit of a risk imo

DiCanio to Sunderland :cuckoo:

Should be entertaining if nothing else

I see Milliband resigned as vice chairman

David Miliband said: “I wish Sunderland AFC all success in the future. It is a great institution that does a huge amount for the North East and I wish the team very well over the next vital seven games. However, in the light of the new manager’s past political statements, I think it right to step down.”

I've just seen this from John Terry yesterday :lol:

 Almost as good as Mulumbu's red card. I don't think I've seen a more comical way to get sent off!

what statements?

Talksport are reporting that Abramovich is planning on taking over as chelsea manager next season.

Probably something to do with this:
"I am a fascist, not a racist".
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/1506262/Im-a-fascist-not-a-racist-says-Paolo-di-Canio.html
and declaring in his autobiography that Mussolini was
"basically a very principled, ethical individual" who was "deeply misunderstood"

Certainly the Mussolini comment is a valid one to have. Don't know too much about him but have studied history, especially German history around 1930-1940, and there are many examples of brilliance by hitler. Of course we all know what he did and I am not defending those crimes at all, but as a politician and leader in the 30s he was inspirational, clever, opportunistic, and took advantage of other countries weakness in negotiation and diplomacy. people may feel uncomforable hearing that but it is historical fact.

Going a bit off topic there, but I Just think milliband is using this as a pr exercise to further his own career. Trying to win his brother more votes!

How is that the same or even related? Yes, Hitler was exceptionally clever to successfully manoeuvre himself through politics to become democratically elected - that much has never been questioned - but any description of him as "principled", "ethical" and "misunderstood" are clearly wrong, surely? The comment wasn't about Mussolini's intelligence and political craft; it was about how Di Canio feels his moral and value system was actually both ethical and principled.

Secondly, how would David's behaviour - who's now walked away from politics anyway - benefit his brother's political popularity in any way? It's far more likely he just wanted no part with a man who's beliefs he'll obviously strongly object to.

How can a Labour party member be part of a capitalist structure like a football club in the first place? It makes you wonder. Did DM receive any payments from Sunderland AFC?

 You're up to your old provocative tricks I see. Since when has Labour been a communist party standing against capitalism? You sound like American Republicans calling Obama a communist!

Not at all, the Millibands are very left wing - when it suits a vote - not when it comes to their own pockets!

Stunning save from Hernandez header. Can't see united getting anything here today.

been out all day and forgot all about the chelsea man u game.

Really pleased to see man U have lost it though. Had I known I would have put a bet on them coming back from behind at 1-0 down - glad I didn't waste my money.

So, who thinks Man U can win all 8 games and finish on over 100 points.

Feeling somewhat frustrated already....plenty of time left though

That was a particularly horrible 1st half.

Have to wonder what Fulham have to do to get a yellow card. 1 miss-timed tackle from Hill gets one but a couple of attempted amputations from Fulham players don't.

The first half in many ways sums up much of the season, painful to watch and masters of our own downfall. I don't mind giving away good goals, well I do, but the first two we gave away tonight would embarrass a pub team.

The 2nd goal made me want the ground to open up, especially given Samba's talent and experience. I fear the hill is just too steep now, it's gonna take a miracle of biblical proportions.

You never know but yes it does look like we are down now. We've conceded so many terrible goals this season, I'll just be glad when it's over however it ends.

I think Gary Neville just summed it up when he said that they always look like they're going to concede goals.

Very true. At least it's not as bad as the start of the season when we looked like we would concede from nearly every corner....

9 out of 10

'You're the best thing since sliced Brent'

I don't know who David Brent is - have I missed something?

"You scored 10 out of a possible 10. You're either very Brent or very Brendan. Or spend a lot of time Googling quotes"

I didn't Google; I just worked on the basis that if it sounded pretentious or psuedo-intellectual it was Rodgers, and if it was just too ridiculous then it was Brent. The last one was a pure guess though; it could have been either of them :)

6/10, no idea which ones were correct or wrong though....
