Well that was a nervy win towards the end! I really thought we were going to drop points!

Per picked up the first red of his career with a foolish tackle inside the box. Credit again needs to go to Gervinho, who was in uncharacteristic fine form, and Monreal who looks a better player every time I see him. Temporarily in 4th place pending Chelsea's game, and within 1 point of Spurs having played the same number of games as them for now.

I'm delighted that Villa got a win against Stoke. Not only does it help them survive, but it takes Stoke one step closer to relegation. There's not many things that will make me happier this season than seeing the back of Stoke and Pulis.

Pleased for a Southampton win too.

I think you'll get a CL spot, and prob will finish 3rd. Cambsno will be confused!

Stoke will stay up I think though.

Could get 3rd, I really do think that 3rd and 4th (in no particular order) will be us and Spurs, Chelsea will be too busy doing a cup double and enhancing Rafa's CV.

Hope Stoke stay up, think they suffer from the tag Bolton had a few years back.

I am... Why is flapianski playing? Looked woeful at corners.

He's been solid since he came in. Made enough good saves and not any notable mistakes so I think he deserves to be kept in for the time being. Szczesny had a slight sickness so Mannone was on our bench today. Not sure he deserves being called Flapianski by his own fans either.

Admit I only saw motd, but looked suspect at corners. Didn't realise szczesny was out, I know he had struggled of late and a rest may do him good but think he is a far better keeper.

All pro keepers can make good saves, it's how they deal with back passes, set pieces and distribution that make the difference. When I used to watch cambridge Utd some 10 years ago, we had Shaun Marshall. Made many saves of prem quality but the reason why he was with us (and then dropped even lower down the leagues) was the fact he couldn't handle corners and couldn't kick! All keepers make clangers but flappy does little to inspire confidence.

Wasn't 100% it was a red though. Thought there was a covering def???

Szczesny has had a series of bad games this season and his form has steadily declined. Fabianski's form in his last few games has deserved to keep Szczesny out even when he's fit in my opinion. He's not the league's best keeper but Szczesny has had many disappointing games also. Judging by the way Szczesny has responded in the press I think it's done his ego and work ethic a bit of good to realise he's not an automatic starting XI. Long-term I definitely think Szczesny needs a more experienced GK to tutor him a little bit and keep the pressure for position high.

The card was a strange one. We gave away so many fouls in the first half (several of them rather dubiously awarded by Webb, I hasten to add) that I always felt he was looking for an excuse to show us a red. That said, it was a foolish tackle by Per and I can see why he felt it denied them a goalscoring opportunity. Per made a mistake to give him the chance to send him off. I too think Koscielny could have made it across, but can't be too hard on Webb on this occasion.

Speaking more broadly, 'professional' fouls like that always seem so silly. I sort of understand it if it's outside the box maybe, but inside the box a penalty is a better goalscoring opportunity than most one on ones in open play and add to that the fact you'll likely get a red card and you're doubly disadvantaged. Much better to stay on your feet and apply pressure just with your presence and hope that the goalie can do his bit. Worst case scenario they score a goal but you maintain 11 men. Dive in you and you give them what is often a better chance to score from the spot and sacrifice 1 man from the game for the duration of the remaining match and have to deal with a future suspension. For that reason I've always thought that straight reds for denying a goalscoring opportunity inside the box is a particularly harsh law.

Would love to get someone like friedal in to challenge for no 1 spot and to give coaching. Or given?

Don't want Reina, and certainly not valdes, both of whom have been touted. Valdes especially is awful.

You'd take Given but not Valdes? Valdes is on another level and I'd happily take him. I think Adler is a very viable option and a raid of the Bundesliga wouldn't surprise me, but Vorm, Mignolet and Begovic have all be extensively linked.

As an outside bet I wouldn't be too shocked if we stole Chico Flores at CB.

Not seen barca too many times but when I have he looks very suspect.

Spurs - Everton draw a pretty perfect result for us. Shame Sunderland couldn't hold on to their lead but I didn't expect them to.

Not sure what QPR fans are complaining about with the Zamora red; he straight up kicked Gomez in the head!

Some strike from Remy

Can only assume they didn't see it properly, didn't have the benefit of TV replays. No complaints from me though.

Saw both sides of M'bia today. He managed assists for both goals. Hell of a strike from Remy but the joy was taken out by that equaliser. No way should that free kick have been given away.

From elation to deflation in 5 minutes. Going to take it out on my cycle back. Masters of our downfall yet again. Argh!!!!!

Was a strange one. Most people probably didn't see it properly. I had a decent view of it, but could not quite work out what happened. Looked like Zamora could see he was there, was going to head the ball, but aimed to kick the ball anyway. No-one around could quite work it out.

There seems to be a general culture with fans now to always boo the ref in these situations, and applaud the player who has been sent off, when often the opposite should occur.

Some strike from Remy

Amazing, no touch, tough angle, the ground went fairly mental it's fair to say.

This season has been frustrating beyond belief. The amount of goals we have conceded as a result of our own bad play is incredible. I thought the free kick was soft, but we gave them two opportunities just outside the box.

I also thought taking Remy off was a mistake but who knows.

Championship should be interesting!

Just saw the Zamora sending off.

You can't expect anything other than a red for that regardless of any malice.

Unless your Grant Holt:D

was a pretty dull weekend for football. especially the liverpool west ham game by the sounds of it.

Hoping that united get beat today, not that it will affect the end result, which is already in the bag, but just for the fun of it.

Really? There were some great games I thought. Notably, the win for Villa at Stoke, Spurs vs. Everton was a great end-to-end game and late drama at QPR...

Also - how lucky were both of Chelsea's goals?!

As for the Liverpool game - yes, that was dull. And they need to be able to beat teams like West Ham at home if they can even consider finishing in the top four in the coming seasons.

Whispers turning into shouts on the Twittersphere that Mourinho could be on his way back to Chelsea this summer.

More fool him. He got out with his reputation intact last time.

If I were a manager (I'm not by the way;)) I wouldn't touch Chel$ki with a bargepole. From the evidence of the Abramovich era so far, no manager will get the time to build anything. Yes, they have been successful, but that was with a core of quality players Cech, Terry, Cole, Lampard and Drogba, who are one by one leaving Chel$ki. Chel$ki need rebuilding. They did well with midfielders last Summer, but it is the forward line, and especially the defence which need working on, and they are harder areas to fill with quality imho. And to do whilst still getting results is even harder.

No doubt whoever gets the job will have money to spend, but there are a few more teams around the World, also Billionaire's play things, who they may not be able to outspend. Also, players are getting so rich that they don't have to move for the money. Yes, they are greedy, but if you're happy and earning millions, you can afford to turn down more. Neymar is an example of that. A few years ago he would have been over to Europe as a teenager, now I doubt he may move at all.

Another few years at a different club may suite Mourinho though, as he seems to get itchy feet every couple of years. ;) I thought he may try something new, like Germany or France. Go to Germany and get a team to beat Bayern would be some achievement. Is there another German club with the money that Mourinho will want to spend to compete with Bayern, or a French club to challenge PSG financially though? He doesn't go anywhere on not spend though does he. ;)

Almost ;)

I know it tends to be a Liverpool ditty - but I'm hoping we don't hear the Thatcher song tonight.

My dog does a somersault every time Man City score a goal.

Sometimes he does two somersaults.............. it just depends how hard I kick him.

If RVP fails to score in his next game then he equals the longest goal drought Torres has ever experienced at Chelsea in terms of minutes between goals

We look a shadow of the side that played Real Madrid on the brightside doubt Chelsea will finish 2nd

I'm going to have to take a TP hiatus when United win the league to avoid you telling everyone you told them so :P

Stick around, we're all going to get pie lol

Everybody agrees with Joe in terms of who WILL win the league. He just dropped a huge clanger by saying it was already won without doing his maths.

oh well. beaten at home by man city again .... another 'embarrassing season' then :runaway:
