Benitez would have had to have been an amazing success to have any chance of getting the job permanently, which he hasn't done so far. :shrug: Or he would be in place when every sane quality manager turned it down. ;)

He will no doubt be well paid for his 'temp' job. ;) :lol:

Huge game for us at Southampton - I've been positive we can stay up most of the season, however if we lose today I think that really is likely to be it. Our next 5 fixtures are Saints, Sunderland, Villa, Fulham, Wigan - we really need a minimum of 3 winds of of those, possibly more, and we need not lose to Saints, Villa or Wigan.

I'm matching my team's performance at present!

It was 3 points for the correct place, and 1 bonus point if the team was in the top 6 or the bottom 3 (irrespective of in the precise place).

No Giggs today for his 1,000th appearance :shrug:

I'd dropped RVP out of my FF team and put Rooney and Hernandez in instead as I expected RVP to be rested.

Stronger 11 than I suspected.

I can see him being used at some point against Madrid.

They've benched Ronaldo and Özil this weekend ahead of the United game so I hope SAF doesn't live to regret today's 11

Great result for us, looks like Liverpool will do us a favour, and hopefully Man City will against Villa on Monday. Will leave us with 4 points to make up, with Wigan and Villa coming up shortly if, and it's a big if, we'd be one point behind each should we win those games. This reminds me of when I was young as I use to pointlessly work out the results of our fixtures - I should know better by now..:help:

Same here, not enjoyed a Liverpool victory this much in a longtime! I could hardly watch the last 6 minutes, fantastic save by Green. Nearly every result went our way today :)

About time too. Mind you, with Park & Betty combining for the winning goal, the whole time space continuum appears to have gone out of wack! :lol:

I would imagine if he starts he'll be off before winning goals are scored.

If he doesn't start he'd be brought on if we're already ahead to steady the ship.

I'm not overly confident. I know we're level with the home leg left to play but they're more than capable of scoring more than the one away goal we got over there.

It's finely poised certainly, which makes it interesting. I have a feeling you will do it, by a single goal margin but I would not bet on it.

Sad day if it's true. Arsenal aren't a City or Chelsea.

Seems to be the same group that were sniffing around United for an even larger sum.

The timing sems odd though.

Buyers of Chelsea and City could chuck silly money about to build up their clubs 'income' and hoover up / stock pile players to fill their resale boots ahead of FFP but I'd have thought that boat had sailed now. Income is already good at Arsenal so as a play thing, I guess there's room to invest.

Some reporter on the radio tonight talking of a fabricated story - Kroenke dig - Usmanov? and what buyer would boast about picking up shares at full value?

If they do end up becoming the next sugar daddy club - it will be funny to see how the fans react given the financial moral high ground they've (quite rightly) held for years.

Arsenal I understand but Liverpool always strike me as the club most vunerable to a sugar daddy given their history (brand) and current plight.

Exactly. We have to accept that football is now a plaything for the mega rich. Okay, so it's always been for the rich, but now it's different.

I have no doubt that FSG would sell in a heartbeat if a decent offer came along and as much as I like what we are building now I know in my heart it is unlikely we'll be real challengers without a sugar daddy.

I would prefer a Mansour over an Abramovich though.
 
I can't decide who I'd like to win today in the Spurs v Arsenal game.

Normally (without actually choosing) I tend to support the underdogs which for years would have been Spurs but Villas-Boas annoys me.
