There's suspicion of a CL match played in England having been fixed. Details of which match haven't been released.

Personally, I'm surprised it isn't something we see more of with so much to be gained from winning.

I think we do see it more often but choose to ignore it!, ive always suspected that corruption is rife in football :(

Interesting game for England tonight. Not quite sure what to make of the starting line up, surprised to see Rooney, Welbeck and Walcott to all start. I'm not quite sure how that can work with Cleverley, Gerrard and Wilshere behind them.

I just hope Ramires' wild tackling doesn't cause us (specifically Wilshere) any problems!

Wilshere smashed already, but not by Ramires like I feared. We Arsenal fans live in fear of international fixtures!

Very nice first half! Wilshere has been the star for me, with great work by Hart for the save, Cahill in defence and Rooney for his industry up front.

Not sure how the commentators missed what looked like cheeky hit in Walcott's gut by Luiz as Walcott ran forward soon after the goal. I'd need to see it again but it certainly looked that way.

Jamie, have you ever played sport?

It does seem to be an 'Arsenal thing' - to go back over every tackle, foul or push etc.

Go on then, I'll bite. Yes. Why?
It is that you seems pre occupied with niggly bits and gamesmanship, as if you didn't understand that is part of sport. Also the Arsenal thing as Phil pointed out is a bit lame.

You are of course entitled to say whatever you want!

My observation was based on folk I know rather than what I read on here.

I'm not sure who to support, it's not often there's a QPR player in the Brazil starting XI

And sadly it may not be for long - I bet he gets torn to shreads in the dressing room!

Having seen several leg breaks from horrible challenges it's hard not fear that again. It's something I'll take on board coming from you though :)

I'm not actually watching the game, how come?

I mean if we go down he'll be off next year - hopefully not, he's been superb lately. It would be amazing if we had the Bazil keeper at the 2014 World Cup!

I wish Brazil still had the lighter greeny blue shorts

Delighted with the win. I know it was a friendly but when you live in Scotland - every little helps!

Are we even watching the same sport? How was 2 draws against the two most defensive teams in the league a shocking start to the season? Everyone was hailing Steve Bould's influence as a defensive revolution at that time. As far the diving, show me 1 incident inside the 18 yard box except that isn't the now infamous Cazorla dive - infamous because it's the single dive in the box by an Arsenal player for well over a season.

Sorry, but you're horribly misinformed.

It was last year sir, and a very clever tactic employed by wenger. Don't get so defensive about your team, I'm saluting the inventiveness, just lamenting the spirit of the game, but that's the way it's going now as a big business entertainment.

Neither of which were awarded.

If I'm right in thinking Byker is a Chelsea fan then they have a far worse diving record than all bit 2 other teams. Ramires against Arsenal for a penalty? Dive. Ivanovic and Oscar against Stoke? Dive. And that's without google helping me out.

I've not said dives, I've said clever ways o winning free kicks in threatening positions.

And for the record I'm a spurs fan (so lets start with klinsmann shall we?). It happens, doesn't mean I like it.

Carra announces his retirement at the end of the season. What an absolute legend. YNWA.

Eeeeeeeeeeeerrrrmmmm...I can't wait for that to grace our screens. Punditry is already of such a low standard it can only be an improvement!

I can see a move to itv. They seem to employ rubbish pundits!

And the BBC employ good ones.

Don't know about Sky, as I don't line Murdoch's pocket.

Andy Grey used to really irritate me though. :bang:

Townsend and Beglin on itv are pants. Bbc are far better and sky are very good too.

It pains me to say it but Ratboy is an excellent and very fair pundit.

I quite like Jamie Carragher - I always remember him phoning up Talk Sport and having a go at Adrian Durham after he called him a "a bottler" for considering quitting international football.

One thing I read this week although I've no idea if it's true ?

Top 3 goal scorers against Liverpool since the Premier league began.

1 Andy Cole (12)
2 Thierry Henry (11)
3 Jamie Carragher (7)

Not too bad, 7 own goals out of nearly 500 games. I think he's kept a lot more out than in. ;)

Not sure how up to date this is,

Premier League: All-time own-goals table

9 - Richard Dunne

7 - Jamie Carragher

6 - Frank Sinclair

5 - Henning Berg

5 - Michael Duberry

5 - Rio Ferdinand

5 - Richard Rufus

Ferguson moaning about the tv schedule

So stop complaining then

Joe moaning about Sir Alex Ferguson

He's got a point though. English teams have had to deal with this a few times over the years.

I'd never put CL before the league but SAF said at his press conference yesterday that he will select two completely different teams against Everton on Sunday and Real Madrid on Wednesday.

He does have a point but, then again, clubs are quite happy to take the considerable amounts of cash that TV puts its way. Also, it could be said that having games that close together is the price of success. I don't remember Liverpool complaining when they were enjoying regular European success. Yes, there are more games in the Champions League than there were in the European Cup (although it could be said that there were more league games in a season) but the monetary rewards were way less so it's a case of take the cash and suck it up as far as I'm concerned.

here here fabs!

the funniest part about old whiskeynose is to say complaining doesn't do anything ... then stop complaining. Ahhh he is the gift that just keeps giving, I'll miss him when he's gone.

I agree in terms of the comparison with yesteryear and I agree that juggling fixtures is the price of success.

His comments (and they've been raised by other managers of English clubs in Europe before) are more to do with the fact that in other countries, sacrifices are made to help maximise the chances of their teams competing in Europe. In France for example, teams play as early as Friday ahead of CL games.
