I toyed with the idea of putting him last night but he was showing up as 75%

I ended up sticking Suarez back in and made him captain as LFC have a double week. Decided to keep RVP but I think he'll be rested.

I already have the tooth fairy's adonis in.

I agree in terms of the comparison with yesteryear and I agree that juggling fixtures is the price of success.

His comments (and they've been raised by other managers of English clubs in Europe before) are more to do with the fact that in other countries, sacrifices are made to help maximise the chances of their teams competing in Europe. In France for example, teams play as early as Friday ahead of CL games.

Some may question why one club should make sacrifices to help another win trophies. For example, a fan might be a bit ****ed off at having to go on a Friday night to watch his team play so that Man Utd can have a better chance of European success and the monetary rewards that go with it with absolutely no benefits to their team whatsoever.

That kind of thinking doesn't fit with man united arrogance I'm afraid

That's true - but I guess it's also true in other countries where they do try to do something positive. It's not a Man United thing anyway - it's cropped up many times before and would potentially benefit any English side that get themselves into European competition.

Fans are already stuck with attending matches at times that may not suit them. I'd personally love to see all games played at 3:00pm on a Saturday but that obviously can't happen due to TV and the revenue.

I'm not suggesting Friday night games are the way forward but I can see why managers are not big fans of playing the Sunday TV match prior to European weeks.

I guess the issue is if you excluded CL sides from the Sunday or late Sunday TV game then there's a lot of weekends where none of the top 4 teams from the previous season would be televised and that dents the appeal of the package etc.

I'd like to see a late Saturday TV fixture.

Tiresome

I'd like to see a late Saturday TV fixture.

I'd quite like this idea, but I think previously anyway the police were against this idea due to people drinking all day then heading to the match, and the issues that can bring.

The other issue with late night kick offs is the ability for away fans to get home.

I certainly think 12.45 \ 1pm KO should be banned - most of the ground is still asleep \ hungover at that time, and that often seems to also include the players.

HD didn't do Ferguson any favours on Football Focus, you could see every vein in his nose. ;) He could have had a shave too.

He has a point about playing on a Sunday/Monday before a CL game, but as has been said, there's a price to be paid for Sky's money.

And if he has the resources to put out two completely different teams, full of internationals, then sympathy may not be that forthcoming. ;)

Scheduling is always been bad. I remember going to see QPR v Liverpool on I think, Boxing Day, in the 80's. :bonk: They always seem to have teams playing each other at opposite ends of the country during the Christmas schedule. :bonk: Madness.

If teams in Europe have to play on Sunday, then give them a home game at least. And over the festive period teams should play close to each other imho. It no longer affects me, as I don't go to games, but I feel for supporters who have to travel in this country when the country virtually closes down on certain days over Christmas.

stop talking sense....you will give football administrators a bad name!

From what I remember, there used to be a lot of derby matches over the Christmas / New Year periods in the late 70s and 80s. The Boxing day derby was always a special occasion.

It doesn't really affect me now living up here as I hardly go to OT and if I do it means having to travel anyway.

I didn't see the game today but it sounds like Ramsey, Szczesny and Sagna filling in at CB all had excellent games. Jenkinson was asking for a 2nd yellow all game apparently so no complaints there. I'm very pleased to have taken 3 points from a typically rugged Sunderland performance. Tony Pulis would be proud

Flicked the radio on to see how the Saints v City game was going.

Pleased to hear it was 2:0 but then the curse struck and City scored.

Radio is off again now.

Southampton denied a definite penalty just before half time.

Anyone still want to say the race for the title isn't over or shall I get your words and some plates now? :D

Well I'm pleased I left the radio switched off.

Fingers crossed that United can now take advantage of City's result and get something from tomorrow's game against Everton.

Unlike 1999 when it was must win games all the way - this potential points defecit in the league makes it a bit of an awkward one in terms of team selection ahead of Wednesday's game against Real Madrid.

It makes it awkward all the way from now on actually. Should United progress in the CL then the City game is stuck between the two QF legs and Arsenal between the SF ties.

I just hope United put out a strong side tomorrow and do everything they can to try and get 3 points.

Title race isn't over.

Same as last week really - it's the most likely outcome (everybody on here knows that) so no prizes or plates required.

Have no Internet access, what score was the city game?

Are you going to do this every week? :suspect:

Nope! My point has been made, I shall await the last few weeks when the trophy is handed over.

But I would like to congratulate united, they have been deserving of this trophy:thumbs:

Let's see if you can resist!

Great finish by Barry for Southampton's 3rd! Not that I should be mocking anyone today but I'll take what I can!

It so is.

Can't believe you are still saying its not. Game over, same as last week, you'll be eating your words

'It so isn't' - you've gone all American.

I'm sure I said this last week but you're missing the point.

Regardless of the likely outcome, at this stage it isn't over. 'Do the math'

We'll see phil, we'll see

:bonk:

If and when the title is won - you still won't be right about it being won this week or last week.

Anyway - looking forward to the United v Everton game today. I've stuff I need to go and do but hopefully I'll be back in time.

Joe is trying to use Fergiesque mind games that even the great man couldn't pull off. He is in a win win situation, UTD win - I told you so, UTD don't win - ABU!

All this if talk?

United will win the title it's already over. I can't believe people are saying if. We should be congratulating them.

How come they haven't had the parade through streets of Manchester yet then?

I don't think I'll ever understand you, Joe  So keen to congratulate a side you clearly dislikes and always betting on them to make a comeback. Is it all just to take the edge off their success by putting a little money in your pocket and so that you can say I told you so because you 'predicted' the odds-on outcome?

Absolutely it is!

Although I am genuinely impressed by united this season. More than other seasons they have just been a class above all the competition.

Also betting on united comebacks is just common sense. They always do it so its usually a guaranteed winning bet

Hoping for Everton to go ahead today and then united to win in the closing minutes.

I won £30 yesterday on bales second goal by the way. I put him down as the next scorer at half time!
