sorry i meant the image in my other post - i'll stick in this save people looking for it.

That was the one I was talking about and it still isn't showing.

Yep, foot looks way too high, red card for me.

If he had used his right foot alone, it would of been a fair tackle ( low and on the ground) but including his left foot makes it was excessive and as i stated, if the man city player had his foot on the grass, it would of resulted in a broken leg and/or damaged knee.

i'm not sure you know your right from your left  His left foot connected with the player

I'll give you that one :)

Completely forgot there were internationals on tonight. Can't say I'm that enthusiastic about them though.

It was nice to see Darren Fletcher get a half hour 'run about' in a United XI last night at Aberdeen. Great reception he got too.

Interesting squad put forward today. I do wonder if there's any sort of long-term vision for English national football. Teams almost seem to be made up of players' names pulled from a hat. There's no sense of direction or development of a regular system and team.

van persie signs for united for £24m

Aint gonna happen unless it's on United's terms. RVP is going grey.

looks like you were wrong phil, they were willing to pay that for him

Thank god! £24m is a great price for a 29 year old with his injury history. Just hope he passes a medical now!

Lot of money for a 29 year with a debatable injury past and no resale value at the end of the contract. I guess Fergie hopes he will get make the difference this and next year, probably rest him quite a few games, or maybe play 4-3-3-with Rooney, Wellbeck and Van Persie up front - tasty!

I prefer Cisse myself, a bargain a £4m!

Rumours also that Wenger has told Song his attitude has been 'disgusting' of late and that he's welcome to leave. This concerns me more than RVP going!

I bet you could get 3:1 odds on him failing his medical

I've been keeping tabs on this a few days now and despite my original stance of us 'not getting him' it has been looking more and more like 'when' rather than 'if.

Various reports on the price but hey ho. We'll just have to see which RVP turns up now.

Sahin is a good player Joe - looks like he's coming your way on loan ?

Based on what I heard on the radio:

Jose Mourinho is happy for Nuri Sahin to develop under Brendan Rodgers because he's aware of his methods from their time at Chelsea.

Unlike other clubs that have showed an interest in Sahin - Liverpool are prepared to take him without an option to buy and are not competing against Real in the Champions League.

I'm the same. As usual Wenger thinks this is appropriate time to further deplete the squad, the signings have started but it's so far south of what we need. The club needs a big rethink, from the very top down.

I don't think there's any choice but to let a player go once they become unhappy - even Henry's performance dropped in his final season - but what needs addressing is why players become disenchanted at the club in the first place. There's no doubt that personal greed plays it's role but ambition is a factor too. Our board are content with reaching Champions League on a relative shoestring compared to the other clubs competing for top 4. That's what needs to change, but it's also what we're powerless to force through. It's a real dilemma...no doubt that Cambsno will be along shortly to lambast Wenger again!

Piers Morgan ‏@piersmorgan
Funny, I really thought @Persie_Official was different. But he turned out to be just another mercenary, heartless, selfish little ******.

made me chuckle

Reportedly going to be on a contract of £225k per week...unbelievably money!

Including wages for the duration of his contract that's £64,000,000 on a player who will be 33 by the end of his contract.

Still time for City to muscle in anyway.

I think they were more than happy not to make a move if he was going to stay at Arsenal but who knows now.

Wouldn't be the first time.

Great bit of business by The Arsenal and Wenger.

RVP..... Out 25m. Olivier Giroud and Lukas podolski in for 23m, and lets not forget next years player of the year ........Santi Cazorla 15m.

Alex Song will be leaveing Arsenal and joining Barcelona on Friday. M'villa could be on his way to the Emirates.

And here I am!

Firstly, a great bit of business. all that cash for someone of that age and injuries and no resale value, and that we learnt from the cock up last season and didn't put our heads in the sand. However, this sums up where we are as a club, and that's not silverware contenders, especially the league. Which is my main beef with wenger as he talks crap.

We have lost the best striker in the prem. ok, we have podolski who is a great player, giroud and cazorla wh look good on paper but who knows? However, if podolski is a replacement for Rvp, the other 2 are not enough to challenge the top 2 even assuming they do well.

If anything happens to our keeper we have nothing. Sagna is good but seems to be picking up injuries, Gibbs is very good but can't seem to play more than 5 games without needing a rest. Defence has improved but still not brilliant and whenever teams have a set piece we look shakey.

Walcott, Ox and Wiltshire look good in mid, arteta is good too, and hopefully cazorla too, but Wiltshire nowhere near fitness, Carzorla needs time, Ox needs to be eased in and Walcott can be hit and miss. Up top we have just 2 strikers!

Based on the fact Liverpool have a good manager and can't be as unlucky as last year, I really feel they will be our competition for 4th and I fear we will miss out.

They've started already:

Robin Van Persie's London Penthouse has been set on fire. Police suspect Arsene

Van Persie injury scare ahead of Old Trafford medical. Sources close to the club confirm back injury caused by carrying a whole team for a season.

Master Wayne & Robin

Trust me, Carzola is a very good buy.

In the game against Cologne, Cazorla ran the show. He was literally unplayable, albeit against a recently relegated and depleted side. As long as we see the RVP money reinvested in better cover for positions I'll be more than happy!

That's my worry, I can see that £25m being stuck in high interest account.

England looked good tonight from what I saw. Great goal from Australia v Scotland too.

Boom! Same thing as almost every time! This always happens at afc. We sell high and buy low, and although it's good business, we are going to fall well off the pace in the next year or two.

Ferguson saying Chelsea and city are ruining football, but my count, Rooney, Berbatov and now RVP add up to over £80m in transfer fees plus wages. And that's excluding Wellbeck and Hernandes. They just got another young Chilean striker too. Glass houses and all that...

I think you can say that Rooney was excellent value for money, less so Berba though.

Rumours tonight that Hernandez could be heading to Arsenal. No idea if it's true though.

They just got another young Chilean striker too.

Angelo Henriquez.

He's been linked for a while and I like what I've seen of him albeit not that much. I think he'll be loaned out initially perhaps through the Antwerp link although I understand his prefernce if loaned is to stay at Universidad.

Kagawa is the player I'm looking forward to seeing next season and I'll be keen see how Powell develops.

The return of Vidic is obviously the biggest plus. We should be stronger this season with him than we were last season.

Anderson, Cleverley, Smalling too. All out for huge periods last year. Hopefully they can stay fit and push on further.

Wellbeck came through the youth set up, and Hernadez cost around £6 million.
Rooney was signed in 2004, Berbatov in 2008. so that's 80 million over 8 years!
Yes, there have been many other signings in that time too, but we also sold a Mr Ronaldo for £80 million. Man Utd are more of a business than say Chelsea, or City being a 'play thing'.

Huge difference between any club and chelsea & city

http://transferleague.co.uk/league-tables/transfer-league-table-2003-to-date.html

united nett spend since 2003 is 4 times lower than chelsea and 5 times lower than city. You can't really compare any teams spending to city and chelsea
