Market demand.....not a joke...1 year left on his contract for an injury prone player.

If you don't think he's worth more feel free not to make another offer :D

Man united bid for van persie rejected.

Don't get me wrong I'd be more than happy to see him at United but he's not really what we need to be spending money on.

Fergie has been a long time admirer of RVP and history shows he's willing to ignore the policy of signing talent rather than established players now and again but only if the price is right.

Last season RVP had a blinder. Prior to that it was hit and miss and injury after injury. No guarantee which player you would get for your money and his age means no re-sale value. United (unlike others) will value him on that basis so it simply won't happen.

Anyway - GB V Brazil

so with that in mind you are saying they won't be upping their bid.

This thread is not really OOF it has just been put here.

Any way, I commented on the £20 thread since and you never batted an eyelid.

A thread about football isn't oof? You've said some funny things but that takes the biscuit.

Also yes you posted again in the £20 thread but not a reply to me so there was no evidence you were reading my "dribble"

No, my threat was never to read a dribble thread started by you...............

No, my threat was never to read a dribble thread started by you...............

And yet when you read your quote you never mentioned the word "thread".

Well after this comment Joe....no more wasting my time reading your OOF dribble...........jeesh!

Anyway, it's of no importance. I won't be wasting anymore energy discussing it

Who knows

I doubt United would have offered their maximum bid as a first bid so I suspect they would offer a bit more but thy certainly wont offer silly money for a player of that age.

I'm not saying he's not worth a lot more - just that United have a budget and wouldn't pay a fortune for such a player.

Other clubs can / will though & that's why I can't see him coming to United.

Arsenal are looking for around £25m would you consider that silly money?

£25m for RVP isn't silly money in terms of a valuation.

It's peanuts for the likes of Chelsea and City and that's what determines a player's valuation these days.

Based on recent policy it would be silly money for United though - I'd be amazed if we were prepared to risk that much on a player of that age with a history of injury when there's other areas more in need of improving.

We'll fish for a bargain on the off chance then walk away.

I suppose time will tell if united are desperate enough to pay silly money for him or not

I just don't think we want him enough to pay what he's worth.

By all accounts Juventus are offering him £190K PW and are looking to bring him in as well as Suarez.

Yeah I read that. Liverpool come out and say he is not for sale.

But then you see it more often than not 3 weeks later that player is sold. I predict he will be sold before the end of this season.

The Mirror reporting United have finally agreed a fee (£26m) with Sao Paulo for Lucas Moura (Lucas Da Silva) - personal terms to be agreed.

The Mirror have jumped the gun before with United (Sneijder, Nasri to name but two) so we'll have to wait and see.

Hopefully that's all the money that they would have used to buy RVP so he's more likely to leave the league :D

I suspect that's a lot more than they would be willing to pay for RVP. I think the low bid for RVP is in part due to how they value his age, injuries, resale value, not priority area to strengthen and (according to some reports) that United are his preferred destination should he move. Anyway, I've said all along he'll not be coming to United as all those factors go against what Arsenal want for him and that other clubs won't need to take those factors into account.

No surprise to read reports that the Lucas Moura deal is a no go now.

back on the prowl to RVP then?

The Moura thing has been running for ages regardless of RVP.

I just don't think United are prepared to pay enough for RVP.

Chelsea have apparently signed Thorgen Hazard, Eden's younger brother. I don't think they could have better names!

Why would a club loan a player for 12 games that isn't eligible to play? Even if it costs them nothing it gains them nothing either. He's hardly a bloke you want around for his wisdom!

maybe qpr would pay said club to take him for 12 games!

He has his faults of course, but his level of training, touch, passing would likely be at a higher level and might therefore raise the bar around the club. He might play a few games which could add to gate receipts, profile etc. Could be a win win all round.

how would he play any games? he has a 12 match ban. presumably if they are sending him on loan to use up those games then as soon as he hits the 13th game he's back at qpr?

Depenss how the loan works. The FA may insist he has to play some games, or the loan period must cover a period where he is available to play which might build his match fitness up. If we could get away with it I'm sure we'd recall straight away. Let's see what happens

Have we got a new 'Barclays Premier League Fantasy Premier League 2012/13' Talk Photography League set up ?

I've just signed back in and my other leagues from last year are all still running and available for this year but the TP one has gone.

Has anybody set a new TP one up that I've missed in another thread or should I create one now and supply the code ?

Liverpool have agreed to sign Swansea's Joe Allen for £13.5m. I like what Rogers is doing with Liverpool. We should see some good football from them compared to how Dalglish had them playing! It is a lot to pay though, especially given how many options there are in the middle already.
