Is that a table of just spends or spends and sales together?

It's net so includes both, hence how Arsenal have made £30m over the period.

Yes it's 'net' transfer spending.

It's transfer dealing only though rather than overall club turnover.

I think that to be a fair table for city it would be better to see just spending, since city have bought but not really sold.

Thought so, and since united includes 80million they sold Ronaldo for, they would be considerably higher on actual spending.

Not that simple really.

United wouldn't have spent the same amount of money on players if they hadn't sold Ronaldo for £80m.

This is quite a good link if you want to compare all the clubs in terms of what they've spent on players / what they've brought in from selling players and the resulting nett spend.

http://transferleague.co.uk/

There's a table from the beginning of the Premier League in 1992 as well as a table for the period 2003-2012

park gone from united to QPR

A good deal for both clubs - personally I'm delighted.

Once fit our first team looks half decent, especially going forwards. + our midfield will still be relatively unknown to most teams other than Park.

Green

Onouha Nelsen Ferdinand Fabio
Park Faurlin Diakite Tarrabt
Zamora Cisse

and some decent reserves....Barton, Mackie, Johnson, Traore, Hill.

Park is a very underrated player. Good signing.

I wouldn't have said he was underrated. He is like a dirk Kuyt but without the finishing. He runs around all match like a pesky fly and will never give up but lacks the skill to be effective. He does tend to score goals when they are needed though.

i expected someone to write that.

What I mean is, he happens to have a good record of scoring important goals at the right time (from what I remember at least). But overall he is very inconsistent. Not a regular goal scorer or chance maker, I find him to be a little like a headless chicken the majority of the time

RVP has interrupted his holiday and flown back to London to meet with Wenger and Gazidis. Hopefully that's a good sign!

I bet you and me would not get away with it just goes to show what sort of justice you get if you have a lot of money.

I think the Rangers story is far bigger than Terry tattle but didn't the magistrate say something along the lines of - he didn't believe that Terry used the words in the way he'd claimed however there was insufficient evidence to prosecute.

Rangers - welcome to Division 3

Whether they are still there by Monday......

Regan has said, and this has been confirmed by other chairmen from a number of clubs, that Newco Rangers will be in the 1st regardless. It could be the cynic in me but I'm expecting a stitch up come Monday either in the SFA refusing transfer of membership from SPL to SFL or to ok the formation of the SPL2

Also the Caley chairman has come out and said recently that their club will now be in trouble. That statement plays straight into Regan's and Doncasters hands and you have to ask why the hell did he make such a song and dance about voting no to SPL vote, was he expecting/told that
the vote will go a certain way today and hasn't or was he oblivious to the potential issues they faced.

Really starting to wish County didn't go up into the SPL now, this will rumble on for either a week or the next 12 months. :bang::bang::bang::bang:

justice served twice today! good!

Well technically only in the case of JT, if things where done correctly and following the precedent set when Gretna went bust, then 'Newco' Rangers should have applied for the vacant slot along with other clubs out with the SFL for the free space. Instead special treatment is still given to them, which grates slightly if I'm being honest.

Sky Sports would like to apologise to all subscribers for wrongly advertising they could watch Glasgow Rangers in 3D next season; they meant D3

Arsenal lifted their first trophy in years today with a win in the Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup. Don't let it be said we never win anything :D

I'm really hoping Henri Lansbury gets a shot at first team football following the last 12 months he's had.

well, it doesn't look like andy caroll is going to feature in rodgers plans. Seems likely he'll be leaving.

It does concern me because rodgers is known for only really being able to play one way and when that's not working someone like caroll can change that. But he wouldn't want to sit on the bench.

According to Guardian sport an asking price of £20m has been set. If he returns to Newcastle then my season will be complete before a ball has even been kicked!

how so?

Also I heard 17m was the target. Newcastle or west ham seem to be the options.

£17m would be even better

Newcastle have already been incredible at getting value for money from their signings but to essentially have been paid £18m for an 18 month player loan would be unbelievable business on their part!

To lose £18m on a player in 18 months is truly shocking from Liverpool. It was an unbelievable thing to do to spend £35m on Carroll in the first place - making him the 9th most expensive player in the world and the most expensive English player ever - but to then to sell him on just 18 months later at such a huge loss is frankly laughable.

Besides, with the likely departure of Walcott and RVP I'm looking for things to help me enjoy football still :D

Going to Newcastle would be awful for gooners. It would mean that Newcastle could really challenge spurs and us for 4th spot, although if Rvp and Walcott go then I think 6th would be a good achievement.

I'm still missing the part where andy Carroll going to Newcastle makes your season?

Apparently he wants to go back to the toon. I'll wish him well and hope he continues the form he found at the end of last season as I think he has so much potential and I want to see him in the England team going forward.

He obviously doesn't fit with Rodgers style of play and unfortunately his season was poor so that's why he's selling at a loss. I think a loan deal would be better because then assuming he picks up form again he would have justified a much higher asking price. Wouldn't have been what Liverpool paid, but that's the panic buy of January for you, we never would have got 50m for Torres on his form in the summer so we got paid over the odds for Torres and paid over the odds for Carroll. In the end it cancels it out so it's no big deal selling Carroll in the region of 17m.

Where is Walcott going?

Where is Walcott going?

He's in the final year of his contract like RVP and Liverpool are apparently the most interested party.

As long as we get Hoilett, Moses or Ben Arfa as his replacement I won't mind. If he's sold without a class replacement I'd be gutted.

Well the rumourmill is in massive overdrive saying that Hoilett is signing for QPR today. The only other clubs I've heard of being in the hunt for him are Newcastle & Borussia Monchen Gladbach so It doesn't look like Arsenal were interested.

walcott wont be missed

10 goals and 10 assists in all competitions for arsenal last season and won't be missed? You're mad!

Bet you were one of those who boo'd him during the spurs game before he answered the critics with two goals.

I do like walcott but I find him a little lacking in execution at the end of his runs.

I'd welcome him to anfield though. Not sure how the partnership of him and johnson really works though, for england they both like to get forward too much and could leave defensive frailities at the back on the right.

I'd still like to see Johnson transformed to a winger like Bale was with Kelly behind him.
