McCarthy is available - or maybe Pool could approach Venkys for Steve Kean?

I think Rafa would take it. The fans certainly like him. Listening to a program last night it seems the owners are very unlikely to approach him though. I know a lot of the guff that Roy and Kenny have had to deal with have been Rafa's leftovers but I liked him as he was quite entertaining when the right buttons were pushed. I loved the Meester Ferguson, it's a Facht episode.

I think there was talk last night of AVB wbeing lined up ?

I can't see Rafa ending up back there somehow. Mind you I'm not sure where all this stuff about his left overs comes from, Dalglish spent enough whilst he was there - Carroll, Suarez, Downing, Henderson, Adam, Enrique all signed by Daliglish weren't they? That's half a team isn't it?

As for AVB, really?

As for McCarthy or Kean, I think they are where they should be! :bang:

i believe AVB is an absolute front runner for the Liverpool job. He's been *allegedly* over to Boston as well in the last 2 weeks?!?

Torres in a swap for Carrol + £15m?

Yes you're right but what I mean't was they had to sort out a lot of what Rafa had left behind - by releasing a few and bringing in new players.

AVB - yes. I'm not saying it will happen but a few bookies had shut the book on him last night. Some in the know folk saying it's been underway for a while but I've not checked what today's rumours are though.

If we get AVB then I'll start supporting crapchester united

Crikey, all said and done he was pretty clueless at Chelski :cuckoo:

Quoted, for posterity

owen to leave united. No surprise there then. Next move for him?

America I'd have thought - maybe a manager will take a risk on him, but he may be viewed as too much of a risk injury wise.

That was my thinking at first but the football Jouro on the radio last night who claimed to have some inside info (although you never know) made a few interesting points.

He was on about how the Liverpool owners were looking for a young modern manager who could be brought in and rebuild over a long period of time.

That was the exact same plan Abramovich had for Chelsea when they appointed AVB but it seems that Abramovich just changed his mind as he wasn't prepared for that process to include slipping backwards in the short term.

made for interesting listening but I guess nobody really knows for sure.

Just heard a rumour that RVP is meeting with Sir Alex.........wow!

Seems reading around this morning Martinez is more favoured than AVB, although the bookies still have AVB as favourite. I like Martinez, but I'm not sure I'd trust him with my footie club

Bookies have AVB as the hot favourite. I can't see it myself but then the bookies are offering a price about Steve Clarke - who just resigned.

I think RDM is more likely than AVB - and the bookies don't even quote a price on him

I like Martinez but would he have been considered 3 months ago ?

Probably a rumour just started by somebody in the RVP camp to get somebody at City to nip down to the bank ;)

United don't / can't (depending on how you look at it) target top top name players anymore anyway. More a case of looking at less expensive players that can hopefully be developed.

Borussia Dortmund's Shinji Kagawa is the one I'm keen to see come to United.

Eden Hazard has been linked too. He's playing the game by saying he'll be playing in Manchester next season but he'll probably just go to City anyway.

You may be held to that:) I think it's a excellent choice to be honest. The guy is on a learning curve and an up coming manager. He's not going to let his dismissal at Chelsea get int the way of his drive. That, alone, can only benefit any club he decides to goto in the future. He's an ambitious, hungry young managerial talent that would love the this kind of opportunity. Give him a club like Liverpool where ego's are 50/50 and he may just fit. And he may just work it around his own ethics too.

On the fact of "King Kenny." His position would of been safe if they managed to secure fourth. Even if he won the FA Cup I think the board would of still thought about his position. The FA Cup is an awesome, brilliant show piece but, unfortunately the champions league has taken its place as the show piece and has downgraded the FA Cup to a mere English show. (I Blame, Fergie, for a chunk of this along with the FA.)

Eden Hazard is the best player in football manger 2012. Scored me a ton of goals and assists although it cost me a nuclear power plant to get him:eek: In real life he's a superb player. Reminds me of when Chelsea brought Drogba. No one really knew about this exceptional talent except at Marseille!

Never heard of Shinji Kagawa?

I remember a lad I worked with at the time years ago waxing lyrical about Drogba from his exploits on Football Manager, and how if a Prem club bought him he'd become a legend.....

Maybe we should get some cash on Eden Hazard now eh?

Is he any relation to Mickey Hazard

Had to google that:lol: No!

I know that CL was a target, but I think it was a bit naive to really expect they would get it after the last few seasons and all the noobs. Look at city in the 2008 and 2009 season -£122m and £117m yest they finished 10th and 5th resprectively. They needed 2 years to gel before they then got into the CL.

I think they should have had a 2 year goal to get back in the CL.

no, but he has brothers called Bo and Luke

Not with the manager they had. Kenny has shown his stuff and his cv is world class but I'm not sure it fits into the modern game anymore. I'm not sure that Ferguson with his ugly veined nose can keep up with it anymore. Times are changing in football

Sir Alex Ferguson – 69

Harry Redknapp – 64

Roy Hodgson – 63

Neil Warnock – 62

Arsene Wenger – 61

Kenny Daglish – 60

Martin Jol – 55

Tony Pulis – 53

Alex McLeish – 52

Mick McCarthy – 52

Steve Bruce – 50

Alan Pardew – 49

David Moyes – 48

Roberto Mancini – 46

Owen Coyle – 44

Steve Kean – 43

Paul Lambert – 41

Brendan Rodgers – 38

Roberto Martinez – 37

Andre Villas-Boas – 33

To name but a few. (got that list from Wikipedia) And de matteo is not even in this list as he's touted as an interim boss. I hope they give him the job!

These guys all made a contribution to an exceptional season. But more so it shows me that the new are coming in.

AVB now odds on to be new Liverpool manager.

Let's just hope it pans out the way the England job did with Harry then.

Although, I'm sure west brom fans may have been a little sceptical when hodgson joined after his spell with us. Sometimes a club and a manager don't fit. If avb does get picked I'll put my support in him and not do a cambsno. We'll see

Based on what we saw towards the end of AVB's time at Chelsea - at least we'd still get the same paranoid madness at press conferences and post match interviews that Rafa and Kenny gave us.

then its a good idea:lol:

Have Man U suddenly become underdogs because they lost the league on goal difference in the 93rd minute? Erm, I don't think so. :cuckoo:

You haven't read the story properly.

Fergie said that in response to asking if they would ever go into a Manchester derby as underdogs. That's already happened.

What a fool for saying that. Pie - face - direct hit

Surprised you didn't hit the post Joe LOL

PS

Wigan have given Liverpool permission to talk to Martinez
