A panel of experts have selected Ryan Giggs and Fergie as the player and manager of the 20 years of the Premier League's existence.

No **** Sherlock.

ferguson didn't even go and pick his award up :shake:

I hope they don't sack (I mean find another role for) Kenny. I like having him in charge at Liverpool.

Hopefully it'll just be slapped wrists - advise him to stay off the lash, send him on a 'post match interview' course and ask him to try and keep his tounge in his mouth.

Martinez has to be a good shout. FSW Raffa did OK and was always good entertainment.

I've just had a thought.

If Dalglish does get the sack, will that count as Downing's first assist ?

Word is that Martinez will use the Liverpool job as a stepping stone to a bigger club ... like Everton ;)

that is actually the funniest thing I have seen on this thread -

Everton - a big club :lol: Oh man, that is a good one!

so you think it was fair enough that after getting the red card he then kneed a player and then also tried headbutting one?

Not saying what Barton done was right, but everyone seems to be forgetting why Barton done what he did to Tevez, the replay clearly shows Tevez kicks Barton in the back of the legs, yet nothing is said, another situation where Tevez gets away with it. He is not at Man Utd because no player is bigger than the club, however at Man City he is bigger, and that will only last for a short while.

Barton has a short fuse and other players play on that instead of getting on with a proper game of football. They have all tried with various other players, Rooney to mention one, but at least he has matured..WHY, because Fergy has nurtured him.

*Except Wayne Rooney

I agree people are overlooking Tevez's role in the incident but those little digs can be seen in almost every game but rarely get punished. There's absolutely no justification in lashing out at a player in the heat of the moment, then being calm with the the ref before kneeing Aguero, attempting a headbutt on Kompany and finally being dragged from a confrontation with Balottelli as he passes the bench.

As for no player is bigger than the club. Rooney has played the pockets of Man United and often let his ego overrun the occasion. Remember him publicly stating he wanted to leave United in 2010 because of their lack of ambition and inability to obtain top players, and claiming his motives weren't money? Well, at least they weren't until his weekly salary went from £100k to £250k. Suddenly he was less intent on leaving once he'd got his way! He's also got away with far more than most - i.e. Nistelrooy and Ferguson's huge bust up in 2006. I'd say if there's one example of a player being bigger than a club (which is a slightly silly saying anyway) then that man is Rooney.

Wow, so I'm very perplexed by hodgson's selection!

He's left out Rio which I agree with but no Micah Richards despite the fact Walker is injured with a broken toe and will miss the tournament and no Crouch who has been superb all season. Gerrard looks favourite to take the captaincy despite being abysmal all season (liverpool have played worse with him than without him!).

Barton is a liability and there's no excuse for anything the guy did on Sunday. Even if you can excuse his actions against Tevez you can't particularly excuse his actions of trying to "take one of them with him" as he so eloquently commented on his Twitter profile.

The guy is like a Pantomine villain, a real nasty horrible clown, who thinks because he has the ability to play a bit of football he can get away with whatever he wants.

I really hope football finally wakes up and stops paying him a wage. Maybe being dumped back into the real world away from the pampered delights the Premiership footballers enjoy, he'd understand just how privileged he is to have such ability and not spurn it as he does so easily :bang:

I'm just cross at J Barton because his actions resulted in those 5 extra mins in the City v QPR match.

When the Bolton game ended and news filtered through to the QPR players of their Premier League survival they went to sixes and sevens and City got the two goals in those vital remaining couple of minutes.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it - all Bartons fault LOL

Wow, so I'm very perplexed by hodgson's selection!

Looking at some of the available and non-availables I think it's going to be a very interesting squad for the Euros this year. I just hope people don't jump on the bandwagon if we don't do well. :suspect:

Well, it was all going pretty well until he got himself sent off, or at least Tevez wound him up. Maybe it's Tevez who's the real Man U villain here ;)

to be fair to Barton, balotelli confronted him IMO, and we know that mario sniffs out trouble!

Squad not announced yet unless I am missing something. Richards is the best English right back so has to go.

Glad that rio probably won't go. Gerrard has been poor but is un-droppable!

It's just going to be Terry & his 22 mates isnt it ?

Joking aside - apart from Ashley Cole and Wayne Rooney I can't really think of anybody who is head and shoulders above anybody else in either the defensive, midfield or attacking options available for selection.

I can't think of a previous finals when I've been less concerned by which individuals will be selected. To me so many are much of a muchness and I for one will judge him based on how he gets the team playing as a team. I certainly won't be moaning afterwards about which players he should have selected instead of anybody he did.

I thought QPR did very well after Barton was sent off. They only fell apart once they knew they were safe after hearing Bolton's result but hey ho.

Tevez - I doubt he's bright enough to mastermind such a cunning plan LOL

I think the Ferdinand selection (or lack of) was clear after Fergies remarks last week about his fitness although I suspect his comments were carefully made to deflect from the fact that Hosgson - (having 'spoken to both senior players') - had found that Terry and Ferdinand had failed to reconcile and it was a case of Terry or Ferdinand - plus others.

Shame for Rio as he's probably done better than Terry of late. That said Terry is able to grab the odd goal which may come in handy.

Richards was always disputed and I think Andy Carroll was meant to be getting the nod (with Zamora) over Crouch wasn't he ?

Great news if rio doesn't go. He is not fit or good enough and terry for all his faults is a body on the line player. Remember he has been playing with cracked or broken ribs of late. He is a leader, is a strong player and can grab goals.

Richards I do think is our best rb, no-one else comes close. Crouch should go IMO. In form (ish), experienced and can score. But hey, the best players often don't make a good team, on paper we should have done much better in the past, maybe we should look at lesser players who play as a team. I mean if u look at fulham or everton, their players are not as good individually as liverpool but finished on same points or better. Or even Swansea and Norwich who were close.

The Guardian are reporting that Ferdinand, Richards and Crouch have all received calls telling them they won't be taking part. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/15/rio-ferdinand-roy-hodgson-england-euro-2012

Brave move if he isn't taking Crouch and more importantly Richards. Both have played well this year for their respective teams.

As for Rio, well regardless of the implications with Terry he's had real injury problems this year, could he cope with so many games in a short period of time?

As I read last night it means he's never been to the Euros.

Hmm, it is a strange move to exclude Richards altogether.

I'm guessing he'll start Glen Johnson - have Smalling as back up? And Phil Jones in the squad for versatility, although his second half of the season hasn't been particularly impressive...

1pm is the official squad announcement time. I'm intrigued...

I'm glad rio isn't going. As for richards, He played well at the start of the season, but he hasn't had much football since christmas really, mainly coming on for 10 minutes. A friend of mine who is a city season ticket holder also said that what you don't see of richards on the tv is how lazy he is getting back.

Crouch vs Carroll - well, the good thing about crouch is you can depend on him to do what he does, but he doesn't light the place up. Potentially caroll could - it's just if he is on his game. I think Caroll is a gamble but if it comes off he could make a real difference.

That's correct - Ferdinand hasn't taken part in a Euro's before.

As for his fitness though - With Vidic out all season Ferdinand hasn't been rested as much and played (all but 6 I think) league games for United so he's had his least disrupted season for 4 or 5 years.

It doesn't take away the fact the games at the finals come thick and fast and as Fergie said - he'd question whether Rio's back would be up to it. That said - I might still have taken him for his experience as not everybody has to play every game.

Unfortunately for him though I seems (for other reasons) it was a case of selecting Ferdinand or Terry rather than whether Ferdinand was worth selecting as one of many defenders.

Still - every cloud and all that - Last time he went to a tournament Heskey landed on him and he was out for 5 months

Crouch vs Carroll - well, the good thing about crouch is you can depend on him to do what he does, but he doesn't light the place up. Potentially caroll could - it's just if he is on his game. I think Caroll is a gamble but if it comes off he could make a real difference.

So what your saying is that Crouch doesn't light the place up but Caroll (who also hasn't lit anywhere up) could if he does something special but he might not so it's a gamble but he could make all the difference.

That's Beechers Brook never mind a hedge.

Out of that pair - I'd say Crouch would deserve it on the season we've just had but with Caroll finding his feet of late (albeit in no pressure games) - I'd just flip a coin.

I'm really surprised about Richards.

But great news about Crouch. I wouldn't have him there as a deputy assistant kit man.

Personally I can't believe Crouch is not going - he's scored in World Cup, has a great record for England, is good technically and in the air. The only thing he lacks is pace. I'm not sure what else he is supposed to do....

Carroll going for me is a bit of a joke - I'd rather have Grant Holt.

Crouch or Carroll - If he is going for one of them - I don't think it would make much difference which.
