Gary Neville has been appointed as one of the England coaching staff. Good choice if you ask me!

does dirk kuyt still play for liverpool?

I seem to remember him having a fairly big part to play in your trophy win, which is more than can be said for a lot of your other players!

I think he's a seriously under appreciated and under utilised member of the Liverpool squad. I'd have him over downing, Adams and probably bellamy too.

Agree totally, hence my question. Kenny seems to have decided to use him as a sub exclusively.

Ah I thought you were implying the opposite!

I watched the Barton incident again on MotD last night and the big clue about him was the expression on his face as he kicked Aguero after the red card was shown. Was, is now and always will be a thug.

Nasty little git who uses the protection of his profession to launch angry swipes at unprotected fellow individuals. His actions are, not a two footed tackle or a moment of madness or a dead leg, ala, John Terry, (just to let a player know he was around). This is a person who has a very nasty footballing history and by all accounts an equally nasty social life. He stubbed a fag out in Jamie Tandy's eye for Christ sake. What gets me with him is he's a good footballer and I totally understand why a club would want him. He has skills and can be a game changer when he's on it. But he's such a liability to any club that has him and that fact is proven. Should QPR get rid of him? Personally I'd squash him like a gnat! but his skill and knowledge of the game will keep him in a position to play at the top level for a few years to come. He's the anti-christ of football, to be honest, battling against the gods of Platini, Messi, Pele, Maradonna, Zidane, (Zola, Di Mateo, Rudd, Cech, Terry, Lampard, Dixon, Peacock, Desailly, The Beef, Wise, Flo, Ed, hasslebaink, makelele, poyet, Vialli (GOD), and Wilkins), and the pressure shows in a wonderfully gifted and talented player.

It's totally possible that I digressed in my last post. I may of come across toward the end leaning toward Chelsea. (Not sure why) And that Joey was a complete and utter ..... But what stands is City won the title, Man U came a close second, Arsenal third, tot fourth, Newcastle fifth, chelsea sixth. Now, I'm interested in joining in the banter for next season but which of your guys prediction came out on top in this thread. Anyone know?

(The one-time England international has apologised for his actions via Twitter)

Well that's ok then. Give him a sherbet dip and all is well. (naughty little boy)

I will do the final xls and reveal the winner....once I can find it

Here we go - I accept the wooden spoon with horror :gag:

3 joint winners, Marcel, Joe and Cambsno

Only Gerrard predicted Wolves to go down, we all predicted Wigan, no-one predicted Newcastle top 6.

We may need to amend the points awarded next year if anyone wants to do it again to differentiate more. :rules:

Anyway here is:

That hurts!

I forgive you :D

Ok, so for liverpools season.

The premier league performance has been embarassing. Not so much the performances per se, for the most part they have played well, but lacked goals - the lack of goals has been really embarrassing as has the poor conversion of chances. Defensively we've done well, offensively - really poor, home record has been awful.

Well, when I've seen them play they have been all attack and b****r all in mid or defense. One of the poorest clubs this entire season. Yeah sure they beat my boys (chlesea) but they are def the comics of this season. Laughing stock of the entire premier.

Other competitions, we have scored the goals and had some great results and performances - a trophey and a final appearance has showed success.

Success in the Mickey Mouse Cup. Get a life. No one cares. No one ever has. It's a cup for sure, but its so off the chart that it becomes a laughing stock.

This makes the season very mixed. On one hand we have had an embarassing PL performance, but on the other we have had two trips to wembley. When you compare that to our last few seasons, it's a better result. But is it enough to say our season has not been a joke - I think probably not, if we had won the FA Cup too then you would have to say 2 tropheys out of a possible 3 can't constitute a bad season.

Yeah you won one little insignificant CUP. You didn't win two. Hypothetical means you wish. Chelsea stuffed you in you the first and second half. You had a little moment toward the end but, at the end of it you lost. Chelsea picked up the cup and you sat there wondering over your beer while I was necking mine.

Also, I'm not comparing liverpool's season to united, whilst we won a trophey and they didn't, I would still say they had a better season than liverpool, whilst it wasn't as succssful, the fact that they were in 2 more competitions than liverpool from the start shows they are a long way ahead of them.

Finally something I agree with you. It's called Millions of pounds difference.

I'm comparing each team individually to their own expectations. For united, not finishing with any silverware will not be seen as success in the club. When they started off their targets it wouldn't have been:

1. Finish second - Oh but make it really close and do so on goal difference
2. Do not make it past the Champions League group stage
3. Get booted out of the europa league early by a nobody
4. Lose to Liverpool in the FA Cup
5. Get kicked out of the league cup by a team 35 places below them in a lower league.

No matter how you spin it - this season has been a dissapointment for united (I'll use dissapointment instead of embarassment, as like you said, I think we disagree on the definition of that term). I'm not saying your season was a dissapointment and ours wasn't. I can admit to ours being a dissapointment.

No. It's been a dissapointment for you. Remind me your final standing? Man U ended up a credible second and only a few a minutes apart in who takes the title. Liverpool ended up............Where? Europe...? Who you got to buy! Stature, economics... okay that list could go on. You've even got QPR to think about next season. Another multi reach club.

I love they way you've used embarrassment in this thread. You just about slag off anyone who finishes above your own team. And below it, for that fact, teams like Aston Villa, Bolton, QPR, and Everton Yep I said "EVERTON"a who finished above your lot. These teams showed charector, determination and amazing football. Seems to me you dont know a whole lot about a football apart from your history.

. Should QPR get rid of him? Personally I'd squash him like a gnat! but his skill and knowledge of the game will keep him in a position to play at the top level for a few years to come.

I doubt we'd keep him for his ability (he was terrible, then pretty good), we'll keep him because it will cost a fortune to get rid of him, unless someone wants him on a free.

Personally, I'd keep him but give him a huge fine for the number of games he will be suspended for.

Cisse was sent off twice, and out of the two was the more likely to seriously injure anyone for one of his sending offs.

Welcome to the thread

I really enjoyed beating your boys 4-1 a few weeks back.

Good luck next week by the way.

actually I think at the time you had a chance to get the CL spot due to the results that weekend. Had you won that game and spurs failed to win this last weekend you'd have made 4th

you had no way of knowing that spurs were going to win this weekend and now your only way into europe is beating ze germans.

Normally I would be supporting chelsea, in the CL final, and you have to love Di Matteo - but I have a lot of spurs friends so I'll be hoping bayern beat you.

Thanks for the 50 mil for torres by the way

Sounds like united have hazard. A few days ago he said farewell and that he'd be back in another red kit and now he's confirmed he will be playing in manchester next season so seems like he's united's man!

Well, as someone else said, I would rather face Barton even if he is a thug, than someone who dives in 2 footed to break your leg and possibly even end your career!! Each week you see some very nasty challenges which IMO have far deer consequences - take the injury to Ramsey or Eduardo.

Just to comment on a couple of the 'greats' you mention - Messi is suspected of using racist language like Suarez, Maradona was a drug taking cheat, and Zidane (in the final) head butted Matteratzi in a display of thuggery. Ok, Zidane was one of the best players in the world and much better than Barton, yet what Barton did was not really any different to Zidane.

Re: the eye incident - it happened, Ashley Cole shot at someone with an air rifle if I recall, yet no-one mentions that.

Your such an igit! Only a irishman would wish an English club down. Typical scouser. Just *** you got a few mates that support the yids! I remember the Liverpool vs AC match. I was there for you team!

Shut up!

I thought it was friendly!

Somebody mentioned Downing. You need your sound on.........

ummm,

we don't tend to do that sort of thing in here. friendly banter is fine. this sort of talk won't win you many points.

keep it civil mate

Ooooh! Sorry! Doesn't seem to stop you when you want to curve an insult. I guess straight forward is not the done thing, but I'll try to Bend it it next time to your tastes.

Here's an interesting stat or two taken from the BBC website!

The club’s owner Sheikh Mansour and his investment vehicle Abu Dhabi United Group have sunk at least £1billion into City since 2008.

Compare that to their neighbours at Old Trafford who must contend with massive interest payments on loans taken out by their American owners, the Glazer family, to buy the club. According to some estimates, the Glazers have taken out £500m since their takeover in 2005.

So, makes you wonder where it's all going to end doesn't it, and just who is actually going to compete with MCFC over the next few years
