'Diving' is a difficult thing to judge:

You can take a dive when you've had a slight push in the back or clip on the ankle and whilst it's a total over-reaction on the player's part - doesn't alter the fact that the player has been fouled and a free kick or penalty should be awarded.

Diving when no contact has been made is something different and that's something I'd certainly like to see the back of.

I've also seen players booked for diving when all they've done is go down because of a tangle of legs and weren't actually asking questions of the ref.

If you just tried to ban all diving regardless then we'd be in more of a mess as how would you prove somebody dived rather than just went flying.

I don't know what the answer is really.

'Offside' - that just needs to be got right as often as possible but there will always be mistakes.

Simple! You have have videos available for the 4th official. While the Chelsea players were celebrating and Wigan preparing to kick off, the 4th official tells the ref that it was no goal. No delay and correct decision. Like in tennis, give each team say 3 challenges per game.

For diving - simple again. You do not give yellow card out during the game. In the main its too hard to tell. You simply have the games reviewed afterwards and anyone caught diving or cheating (like Drogba the other week), gets a 7 game ban. After a couple of players get these bans, very few players will cheat.

Great goal and a great time to score it. Arsenal 2-0 up at Wolves. Phil, can you tell your lot to get a wiggle on! :D

Message delivered - fingers crossed. Looking iffy and a goal down though

Would work fine if it's a clear cut dive but so many wouldn't be.

Derry's fingertips touched Young's shirt. How was Young right to go down? Just because some other players might do it, doesn't make it right.

when you're a finely tuned athletic machine such as young Ashley.. the slightest deviation or impediment to a lightning burst of pace will without doubt tip the balance. And therefore bring him crashing down. :suspect:

they're doing the poznan at etihad. Oh how i chuckled

Game on again now in the title race - down to 5 (2) points so the Derby starts to look key again.

Nice to see (apart from how it affects us) Wigan get the points and elsewhere it looks like my FF points got a much needed boost.

Just saw the united result, always enjoyable to hear them losing. Looking forward to seeing the highlights of that one, gave me a good chuckle. Won't affect the league result but still nice to see.

Arsenal really starting to grip that 3rd place now.

I know why you (we all do it) would add the bit on the end about it not affecting the outcome of the League title Joe but tonight's results really throw it wide open.

When it was 8 points I was working on the principal that we had a 5 point lead with the derby to come and City's home record.

5 points was a good buffer but in my mind that's now just 2 points which is nothing really.

I don't think you need to worry. City will lose more points before then anyway.

Nice of Dalglish to thank Comolli for his contribution to the club... perhaps he'd have been better off thanking him for taking the bullet for his failed signings!

mancini seems to be playing mind games, he says

"It is finished," said Mancini. "Five points is too much.

yet, a few days before when the deficit was 8 points after losing to arsenal when asked "Is it over now do you think" he said:

"No, in football, never it is finished"

so, if he thought he could still win when they were 8 points ahead, why would he think it was over when only 5 points ahead. :suspect:

Personally I think it was over a long time ago.

Maybe he'll take a sideways bullet and let Johan Cruyff in? I'm sure the LFC owners are savvy enough to know that sacking KK would be like stomping on a kitten to most of the faithful. But shift him upstairs and bring in a big name would save face all round.

To be fair to him - I'm not sure he knows exactly what he's being asked or indeed what he's saying a lot of the time.

Fa cup semi today. Due to having our third reserve keeper and his nervy performance last week I think it's safe to say we'll lose today.

Shame as I quite fancied it until Reina got the ban.

I think it's a bit unfair to write off Brad Jones. He's a goalkeeper with plenty of premier league experience and is more than capable. I think we'll do it today. But then again, I am a liverpool supporter and common sense and form mean nothing to me. We'll win. Then we'll win in the final.

Because Liverpool are the best football team in the world.

Ahead of today's semi-final, the FA have warned that any Everton players caught marking Andy Carroll will be booked for time-wasting.

3-1 to the mighty reds. SG, Suarez and Agger with the goals. Osman with the consolation.

Didn't quite go that way last week when he scored the winner now did it?

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!

Arrgh - Mersyside love in day :puke:

You might loose Joe but for no other reason than Everton are a better team than Liverpool.

That said - I hope Liverpool do win (and go on to win the cup) as it will keep the paper over the cracks and fingers crossed - keep Kenny in his job :naughty:

Banter aside - I think Liverpool will up their game today - I'll go for 3:1 to Liverpool

Is it on TV ?

Sky ... was dissapointed to see it's not on ITV, but City are on too so might go down the Whalley to see what scroats hang abot there :D

OOH. Didn't realise Aberdeen were in the semi! 'mon the Dons!

I've BBC1 and ITV (English versions rather than Scottish) added to my SKY line up as they often show something other than English footy up here but I always feel a bit robbed when ESPN have the rights.:bonk:

Might go and cut the grass - not watching City.

Not watching the game as I'm out with the kids today, haven't seen them for a few days. But hear it's 1-0 to everton already. No surprise there.

Interested in how you justify Everton as a better team than liverpool considering we've beat them 2-0 and 3-0 this year and won the carling cup when they went out in an earlier round and the fact they are only 1 point above us in the league though.

Everton are more in form right now for sure - but a better team? The stats and the history would prove otherwise.

If we lose today it will be a combination of Calamatous James and our poor form this half of the season.

Fingers crossed Hearts can make it an all Edinburgh final now.....

WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO, GET IN

Scores the winner once again! IN YOUR FACE!!!!:razz::lol::lol::lol:

Everton are a better team than Liverpool.

Make that 3-0, 2-0 and 2-1 this season. How come the better team keep losing to us? :D:D:D:

LOVE IT!!

I can't see us getting past spurs or chelsea, but to get to yet another final this season is great.

Calm down, calm down :lol

I almost want to pay ESPN for Kenny's post match ramblings now.
