heading off to barnsley tomorrow to watch west ham with the father in law - a lifelong west ham fan.

You must be a lucky mascot - you'll have to go to some home games and see if you can improve those too. Did you join in the conga? :D

Ha ha. No I didnt join the conga, but it was amusing. When they stopped the Barnsley fans at the other stand started doing one too. Very good sense of humour for the yorkshiremen.

Barnsley really didn't turn up. They were very poor. The west ham fans drank the bar dry before half time as well.

Thanks the lord for Luis Suarez. Finally a point.

Missed all the results today. Sadly my wife's Gran passed away this afternoon so for about the first time in my life I've been watching MOTD without any idea of the scores.

Villa were my Grandad's team so I've been keeping half an eye on them of late as things have started to look ominous for them. Hopefully that's a good point for them but (nothing to do with Liverpool) 3 points would have been even better. Fingers crossed they'll stay safe though.

He's deadly from one yard out! ;)

All the results went our way today - we can actually be relaxed for the Utd match - we're still odds on favourites to lose, however I'm more confident now as the pressure is off.

Stranger things have happened...but not for a while!

It's interesting isn't it. Especially when you consider that Mark Hughes played in that game and Ryan Giggs came on as a sub. Giggs may well play tomorrow and, of course, Hughes is managing QPR.

Sorry to hear your news.

As for Villa, I'd be amazed if 3 of Bolton, QPR, Blackburn or Wigan finish above so I think they'll be ok.

Sorry to hear that Phil, my best wishes to all. :(

I think Villa have done enough to stay up, can't see 3 teams from the bottom pack overtaking them.

I remember Giggs scoring against us back in the 90s at Loftus Road, amazing to think he is still playing for, probably, the champions.

Man Utd were not the most attractive side at Loftus Road this season, but they just dominated us so much it was scary from a tactical point of view. We're a different team now of course - it could go either way. I think we are 14/1 for the win and sadly the bookies are normally right!

Thanks guys.

She was 95 years of age and 'Great Granny' to my kids and their numerous cousins.

She's only been seriously ill for a couple of months so thankfully nothing too drawn out. She remained sharp as a pin thoughout, active on the internet, always in know with news and sport etc.

Sad to see her go as she was an amazing lady.

I'll take any United win unless City then loose in which case a United draw wouldn't be the end of the world. :suspect:

Similar to my Nana, who died in 1985 at the age of 93. Ran us ragged around Brent Cross shopping centre just a couple of months earlier.

Yep, sometimes when I'm feeling sorry for myself I look at older folk and get a reality check.

So - squeaky bum time today.

Couple of big, wrong decisions for Utd of late, couple of bad ones against QPR.

We would in all likely hood have lost anyway, but how hard is it to look in a straight line? :bang:

United are a class above, no question. They probably would have won anyway. So why do officials think they have to give them an additional advantage? That red card came out of the referee's pocket so quickly, I was surprised it didn't fly out of his hand!

That said, QPR defended extremely well and should be proud. To play at Old Trafford for 80 minutes with 10 men and only concede 1 goal says it all.

The penalty shouldn't even be a talking point because the linesman dropped a clanger. After the offside - it's yet another of those ones that you can quite easily justify giving and also quite easily justify waving away.

Fairly toothless performance on the whole from United. Despite all the possesion and build up play they seemed to lack that cutting edge up front.

All said - happy with 3 points at this satge of the season and I hope Arsenal can put in a decent performance against City.

How balotelli is on the pitch is beyond me. Yet again the FA employ blind refs. What is the point of the 4th official?

Great 3 points for arsenal. Have to admit I didn't expect to come away with anything but yet again when the pressure is on we get the result. No doubt now we have a slight cushion again next weekend's performance will be less impressive...more than happy to be proved wrong though :D

Sadly the main talking poitn will be about United gettig a soft penalty from a missed offside decision :( I love Manchester United (sorry am I being arrogant?) but despair when we get that rare bit of luck to help us beat a relegation facing side at Old Trafford...
If the QPR fella had stayed on the pitch then I'm sure we would have struggled to win 6:0 or something .... as it was, we looked ashamed.
I wish we were more like those other NW reds, that relish beating disadvantaged sides. :D

I beat you.

4-2 to me now.

Absolute shocker by the ref in the united game and shame on young for going to ground like that as well! That's one of the worst dives I've seen all season!

Must have been from the school of ronaldo :D

Nah it was way better than Ronaldo, possibly Gerrard or Suarez quality :naughty:

Joking aside - the sad thing is that when incidents like that happen the ref isn't actually in the wrong to award the penalty and unfortunately depending on the incident the red card then has to follow.

it was a bit of a comedy of errors. Young was offside.. so play should have been halted as soon as he touched the ball.. once contact had been made (and yes, contact was made), he was (and any other player would have done the same) right to go down.

I think Sparky was just gutted that he never got the chance to have a go at united with 11 men. He was under no illusions that the game would have been difficult to win, but it would have been nice to get the chance.

And i'm a united fan btw.

A couple of months ago i was on tenterhooks about the derby at the Etihad... now i can't wait

We''l just have to wait and see how many critics he has when he does it in an England shirt at Euro 2012! :rules::wave:

Looking at the sums - based on the current 8 point lead - It could easily be the big day :naughty:

Thinking about it - IF we can manage 2 points more than city over the next 3 games - it would be over before the derby.

United

Wigan v Man Utd
Man Utd v Aston Villa
Man Utd v Everton
Man City v Man Utd
Man Utd v Swansea
Sunderland v Man Utd

City

Man City V West Brom
Norwich V Man City
Wolves V Man City
Man City V Man Utd
Newcastle V Man City
Man City V QPR

Looking like some good results today. Hope Blackburn win tomorrow too.

Great win for Norwich (drawing level with Liverpool) against Spurs who must be feeling the pressure from Newcastle now after their win.

Good win for Everton today to go 4 clear of Liverpool although a Sunderland win would have seen them join Everton above Liverpool. Stoke and Fulham could potentially both end the day above Liverpool.

I also hope Blackburn get a win tomorrow (not because of who they're playing) but because I want them to stay up.

Great win for norwich, really enjoying them in the premier league this season! Also glad to see Everton win comfortably and of course Newcastle winning is great to see too. If Chelsea win by 2 or more goals later they stand to take 4th off tottenham too! The fight for CL is really hotting up!

You're as bad as the sky sports presenters. None of that counts until the end of the game week and all games are played.

Course it counts.

Everton getting the win to go 4 points clear means they'll be ahead of Liverpool regardless of Liverpool's result against Blackburn.

Norwich beating Spurs and Newcastle winning means Spurs and Newcastle are now level on points having both played their games.

Soke and Fulham potentially 'ending the day' above Liverpool was just statement of fact. Probably won't though.

Course it counts.

No it doesn't. You said everton are 4 points clear. That doesn't count until tomorrows game is over. We've said before in this thread how stupid it is when people count the points and positions before the week is over.

You sound like a bitter Liverpool fan.

Yes it does.

It means that they are above Liverpool now and being 4 points above, will be above Liverpool after tomorrow's game is over.
