Joe, ever been happier to have been wrong about city dropping points at the toon?

Joe's predictions are always designed to either prove him right or be happily wrong.

Never mind hedge - I reckon there will be topiary going on :naughty:

Nope, never been happier to be wrong. Let's not dismiss qpr though, stranger things have happened, the fat lady hasn't sung yet

0/6 with one game to go today for my predictions but I don't care because against the odds arsenal are still 3rd. It's simple now; 1 game, 3 points and £45m pounds is the reward.

So it all goes down to the last day, except for wolves.

Here's how I hope it all ends:

Liverpool draw against Chelsea and win their last game by three goals. Everton lose last game 2-0, so Liverpool finish above them on gd. This is a nice to have, wherever we finish now , we've had a poor prem league season.

Arsenal clinch third and newcastle clinch 4th then Chelsea lose cup final meaning the toon get into cl qualifiers.

City beat qpr and qpr go down with Blackburn. I'd rather villa went down but that would mean a qpr draw at least which would hand the title to united.

Man u beat Sunderland so that they lose the title on gd. Neville keeps saying that it's fergies worst nightmare to lose the league on gd. The thought of that makes me happy.

Pretty poor game at Loftus Road today, but we got the result somehow in the end. Amazing atmosphere as we scored on 89 mins and the news filtered through that Bolton had been pegged back to 2-2. We've now won our last 5 home games in a row against Liverpool, Arsenal, Swansea, Tottenham and now Stoke, and still have a good chance of going down. I'll be watching Stoke v Bolton more the Man City v QPR I think. Everyone has us down to lose at City, and of course we should, and we have the worse away record in the Premier League. Still, if I was a City I'd be nervous, if Diakate is back I could see us sneaking a draw - I won't however be putting any money on that!

What a great last day of the season it will be, title to be decided, Euro places and one of Bolton or QPR to go down (assuming Blackburn are down - if they beat Wigan tomorrow and we lose heavily to Man City, they could still stay up). Wigan of course could still go down, but they'd need to lose both against Blackburn and Wolves, unlikely on their current form.

In a perfect world I would like Arsenal to be third (I think, or 5th to teach Wenger a lesson), Toon 4th, and Villa to drop with Blackburn - In reality, I think Bolton will drop, with Gooners 3rd and Spurs 4th.

Think I'll change my avatar for luck. Clutching at straws but you never know.

Blackburn down. I have to take my hat off to Wigan, and their Chairman, they were truly awful earlier in the season and looked certain to go down - chairman stuck with the manager and what a turnaround. Fair play to Martinez as well. Wolves were probably down as well, but who knows if they have stuck with McCarthy, who would also have been ideal for getting them back up next year - that board really should fire itself.

Just bolton to go now after Qpr win at the Etihad:cuckoo::D

once again, people misunderstanding the way a term is used in south america.:shake:

Messi was playing in Spain and Suarez in England, speaking to Europeans, no?

So it's really pretty irrelevant what it means in South America, to South Americans. Perhaps they should learn how to behave away from home.

Hopefully the Spanish fa will learn from the English fiasco and not make the mountain out of a molehill that was made here.

Absolutely.

Agreed.

On to the football and liverpool winning as expected. They seemed to have found the key to unlocking Chelsea in the fa cup final but just didn't have time to make it count so I fully expected them to step up this game. They've certainly got the English touch when it comes to penalties though :naughty:

No pressure either.

Not been watching - Has Downing got himself a Premier League assist yet ?

I've only been watching live updates on my iPhone but nope, no assists for Downing and it was him that missed their penalty. Shelvey sounds like he just scored a great goal. It's all a little late for Liverpool to start finding the back of the net now but maybe next season will yield more in the way of results and less in the way of controversy for them.

What's Mr Suarez been up to now then ?

He's getting a slating on the radio

Lovely.

Caroll was immense tonight. I'd like to see the stats of the number of balls he won in the air. He seemed to just win everything. Hopefully he'll take this form to the euros

Surez hit ivanovic in the face in a tussle. No big deal, wasn't anything in it, just a flailing of arms. No drama here, move on please :)

I just hope any of our players can take some form into the Euro's

Found what they're on about.

Bit more than a flailing arm but hey ho. Perhaps it's like eye gauging and biting. Just misunderstood as everyone does that in Uraguay

Meh, it was no worse than what ivanovic did to Carroll earlier

And it was nothing compared to this:

Is it worth me waiting to see that load Joe or is it some old Rooney clip ?

I saw the Ivanovic one on Carroll. It was in the chest even though Carroll went down holding his face LOL. Agreed. Still not the done thing though.

:D

It's the old Rooney elbow classic!

Not sure what happened with caroll holding his face because when he got up he was rubbing his chest, jury is out on whether he was doing a bit of amateur dramatics or just doing a face hold of general pain. The camera didn't stay on him long enough to be sure one way or the other.

Looks like I spoke too soon about leaving the controversy behind. I fear as long as Suarez is with Liverpool he'll be stirring up a ****-storm.

The way he handled the whole Evra episode coupled with his temperament
he's easy pray for players to wind up and for journalists to crucify to be fair:(

Suarez is such a liability. Ajax recognised that which is why they offloaded "The Cannibal of Ajax" to Liverpool. That's certainly not a clash of arms with Ivanovich....more like a forearm smash! Any other team would be preparing to move him on already but I suppose Liverpool don't have any other options.

More importantly though, if I was a Liverpool supporter, I'd want to know why we didn't play like that against Chelsea on Saturday or why Carroll* wasn't brought on from the start.

*having mentioned his name, please don't suggest that he might be in the squad for the Euros

Anyway - I've watched the match and was more puzzled by Chelsea's selection / approach to the game. In some ways I feel they'd written the game off despite a chance of getting a top four finish. Damned if they do and damned if they don't sprang to mind tonight.

There were obviously players they weren't prepared to play with the CL final around the corner. Leaving them out keeps them for the final which they could easily loose but playing them and risking a knock wouldn't do either.

I suspect they thought 3 points probably wouldn't have resulted in 4th anyway so eggs into the CL final basket.

As for Suarez.....

I know I've given him a fair amount of stick over the course of the season but I do agree he's a liability.

It's not so much what he does (because loads of players commit fouls and take pot shots at other players) but it's the way it happens with him.

I used to do similar things and I've seen it so clearly in Suarez a number of times now. It's just a split second thing that you have almost no control over. It's like you 'lash out' before you even know you're going to do it or why, and then within a split second it's gone, you're instantly apologetic and almost don't even know what you've done.

You saw him holding Ivanovich straight away last night and again with Scott Parker a couple of months ago.

His problem (and I think it is a genuine problem for him) is that these things can happen far more easily during competitive sport or when the old adreniline is coursing and it's something people will exploit to the full.
